I have been collecting Swiss automatics for a long time. Last summer I saw this watch at a garage sale and the guy wanted $5 for it, so I picked it up. After spending 30 minutes on the settings, I gave up and left it on my desktop. Today, I happen to find this video and finally understand its adjustments. Thanks for uploading this tutorial, very helpful.
Greg -- Thank you for taking the time to do this review. The tip on how to reset the hand position was a life saver! You've got my favorite watch doing great again. Thanks.
Greg - thank you very much for the efforts in posting these videos. I did not had manual and was not able to use my favorite watch for 3 years now. I just configured the manual handle to the correct time and feel very happy.
2023 now and I just got my hands on a even loder one of them. Resin case and strap in black and no solar or markings in the bessel.* The setup was easy with your guide! Awsome work =D
I have this exact watch and I just replaced the battery in it. Your video helped me to get everything set up correctly. I wasn't sure where to springs in the back went so I just put them in some holes and closed it up. Seems to be working fine. I love this watch. Thanks again for making this video, super helpful.
I actually really love the WVA-470. I just bought another one off eBay for $50 used, but it is in awesome condition. I am thinking the newer model you are mentioning is the WVA-M630 that seems like a pretty sweet version, but there is something about the WVA-470 that has attracted me back to it. Great review Greg!
I like the WVA-470’s 4-button design and find that it’s easier to operate the various functions compared to the newer 3-button version. But I have enjoyed the various colors and styles of the newer version too. It’s about time I think seriously about one of the Lineage watches. Hmmm.
@@GoodTimekeeper Agreed! There are some Lineage versions that look really sweet! I had my eye on one of the WVQ-M410 Lineage versions and now I can't seem to find it. I guess I should have snagged that one up as soon as I saw it. :)
I picked one of these up at a Estate Sale and it's one of my favorite watches to wear. It looked as thought it was sitting in a box for several years and the display was not on or hands moving, therefore other folks left the watch on the table. It works fine after leaving it under the sunlight for a couple of days. I still wear my Casio Oceanus T3000 but not as often, don't want to scratch that watch and only use it when not working in the field.
Thank you for doing this video! I've owned this watch for at least 10 years andit's the only watch I own. I absolutely love it and it's still keeping perfect time, but I've long since lost the manual and have forgotten how all the adjustments work and how to access them. This was REALLY helpful to me, and I love how clearly and concisely you explained everything. I also followed you over to your Behind the Scenes and enjoyed that as well. Great job all around! I know you said you got yours in 2012. Is that the year it came out? I'm trying to figure out how long I've actually had mine and, like I said, it feels like it's been at least 10 years. Any idea when the WVA-470 was first released?
You're hands were off by 1 minute but you fixed it during the hand set demo. 🙂 Great video as always. You seem to have every model I think of getting. Love your collection.
Your information allowed me to figure out why my watch was not successfully receiving a radio signal. It was not displaying the “US 60” and needed to be changed to that. Fixed! Thank you.
Super cool you’re collecting and reviewing all these Lineage variations Greg! These ‘budget-Oceanus’ models are just logically functional. MB6, slim case and solar-powered back lights. I often look at the titanium JDM models on Casio Japan’s site and every time I think I’ll order one, another ProTek ani-digi or Citizen comes out and I put these on the back burner. I think there’s a market for Casio to embed the Lineage movement into basic field or diver style cases. Casio should take a page from Seiko’s new Sports 5 releases and produce MB6+Solar ani-digi models in Duro or Pro-Trek climber style cases - without spendy ABC or 200M WR features so they stay under $150 retail. Just my 3 cents. HNY Greg!
I own the newer model and it has served me well in the sense that I should never Have to buy another watch again. I did apply a fitted circle of Armor Suit screen protector material on the crystal to keep the face in good shape as the only modification. While I wish I could use some of the nato straps I keep around for my Duro and 1079 Super Illuminator, I can always use this one as a reference piece to keep those accurate whenever I feel like wearing them and get by timing things with their rotating bezels. Hey another great vid, happy new year!
@@GoodTimekeeper I have the 430J....around 2009/10 and still going strong. it has the 4 buttons also and I will add............it pickups up the signal from Japan, I assume, every so often. I reside in Oz by the way.
Hello,i hace a wwa 430 de ,i bought in march 2005, and today july 2020 still works perfect, with the same battery and never open the watch..very nice watch..
I have had a WVA-470 since 2010. Sometime in 2023 the battery started showing MID when fully charged. I have talked to a couple of jewelers and a well known battery franchise location and have not found anyone who can replace the battery on this watch. Do you have any suggestions where/how to replace the battery?
By chance do you have the mtd 1080 Casio model? I want to bye it with black dial in a good low price. But all this watches are preowned and very high cost45þ
Hello Greg. Really love these casino wave ceptor watches, had 2 1st 1 still works fine, use them every day. This video was so helpful thanks so much for explaining so clearly. I always had issues resetting the times and getting it to set using signal. Newer 1 gained 2 hours inexplicably a week ago and old 1 about 2 hours out. However because of your video tonight I've quickly got both to now tell perfect time. I'd looked at other tutorials on you tube before but they weren't clear. So thanks so much for your time and I've subscribed and liked. Not really into watches but always loved these and I can see why you have collected. Both my watches were presents from wife and daughter so mean a lot to me. Both exactly same, old 1 10 years old 'new' watch, 5 years old. Plus never knew about the magnet thing, my watch must have gained time because I put a magnet near it last week so this must have changed it. Embarrassingly, I also never knew how to change time manually. Thanks Greg so much. Cheers. I'm from U.K, by the way.
Hi Greg. I need your help. The Chrono on my WVA 470, which I have had since 2006, have suddenly stopped working. They are stuck at 10.05 and wont move. Kindly advice me in what to do. Thanks.
I picked up one of these off amazon some 5 years ago or so, with the resin band rather than a metal band. Would have preferred a metal band, but it is what it is. This is not my first Casio Atomic, but the other one requires being shipped to a Casio repair center to get the battery replaced because it is not a solar. (I thought it was when I bought it, my bad.) After my hybrid battery failed, which I replaced, that watch wouldn't sync up with my phone any more, so it's a nice attractive bracelet that's functionally useless to me. I went looking for this watch again. It had been out of the light long enough that I've got a blinking C at the moment, though it might have been at an 'R' before I set it on the led shop light. Letting that run like that for a bit to re-charge the battery, but have gotten to the point where I was able to set the digital side. It hasn't started moving the hands (in PS mod it moved them to exactly 12 o'clock, so I suspect that once the battery has sufficient recharge, it will move the hands to the current time as I've set it, or as it collects that from the radio receiver. The only problem I've really had with this watch is the resin band. It was enough of a problem that I stopped wearing it, and picked up an inexpensive Timex which is probably now in need of a battery and floating around here some where. I do make use of the hybrid features for health tracking though, so I expect to be putting this back on the shelf, on a stand so that it keeps getting enough daylight to keep a charge, and stays synced. Oh, and there is the 'minor' issue of having to move it in and out of DST because someone decided to change the DST start/end schedule after this watch was programmed with those auto adjustments. Not an issue at the moment, but it does present issues at other times of the year. Thanks for the walk through. I seem to recall that the DST set/unset was a separate minor process compared to the rest of the time setting. I'm not going to worry about it, but others may be interested. I'll see if I can find those instructions. Thank you.
Love your videos, very informative. I know it's your thing to announce who you are and then the channel name The Good Timekeeping Show with Greg Anderson - your name repeated a second time. Trust me, I've followed your channel for a while and know you as a UA-camr. May I be so bold and suggest welcoming everyone to the channel name and yourself? I love your watch collections, keep it up!
I have a 4756 module wave ceptor Its a damn nightmare and wont set properly. Manual or automatic. I took it to my watch guy and it may have a defect, he mucked around with it for days.

Greg, could you tell me how to sync radio wave wva 470
Excellent instructions, thank you 🙏.
I bought the AWG-M100 because of your videos. I love the watch. Thanks so much, please make another video soon.
How do you update the hour hand also, that seems out of sync for me..
Good day Mr. Greg.
By chance, do you have a Casio watch model WVA-M650.
And if you have it, can you tell me what that model is like?
How do you change the date languang
you think the newer versions of this from japan are good buys compare to the old citizen field watches that are now discontinued?
