      Creepy Shades Being older has nothing to do with becoming the very thing you hate. He hated and mocked these people for decades, made his name off it. Now he's become what he despised. That's called completely selling out and it's a personal failure. Ever listen to stern lately? It's unlistenable, absolutely horrible the past 5 years.

    • @magazinekitchen
      @magazinekitchen 3 роки тому +16

      Sadly, the 1988 Howard would likely think, "Oh my god! I finally got the respect from Hollywood I deserve and no longer have to cater to a loser audience!" Make no mistake, Howard always wanted to be a part of the in-crowd. He just didn't have the looks and such to do it that way, so he became a "shock jock" to get attention. Even then, if you really listen to what he said back in the day, it bothered him that mainstream entertainment media and people thought he was a vile creep. But he toughed it out long enough, and made such a big name for himself, that he actually began to get some respect. The start was getting on "America's Got Talent", which introduced him to a new audience and showed his detractors he had more to him than the sex and non-PC skits from his radio show. He also was around long enough that new, rising stars like Jimmy Kimmel, who grew up listening to his show, actually liked him and were in positions to help him get more mainstream recognition. Howard always was the guy he is revealed to be under the Marci Turk era. It's that older persona that was fake, in parts. The parts that were real is the insecure man who railed against the machine because he wanted to really be a part of it. And he used his audience from those years like he used his staff and the mentally deficient Wack Packers: As a means to an end to achieve his goal of getting famous, and eventually respected by the mainstream.

Howard has always been about accumulating power. Personally I have no interest in celebrity interviews and will not watch them. I liked the old Stern show which focused on the weirdness of non famous people. But you have to give the guy credit. He got mega famous, mega credit with celebrities and if worth like 500 million. The show has been unlistenable the past 4-5 years. Richard and Sal and a few wack packers are the only good thing left. Howard just wants A list celeb interviews. The show is basically PC now.

    this is so bizarre to watch. Granted, I haven't really listened or watched in 20 years or so since his move to XM Sirius and the E! show ended but this just seems to be the complete antithesis of what Howard used to be.

    Why is it so bad that someone is trying to evolve their purpose and business? It’s a business. I still like Stern, I think it’s interesting to see someone make an attempt to evolve. But I obviously understand that others might not like the change.

    Pelican? Bro that man right there gave you a life, without him you would be absolutely nothing. No tonight show, no record deal, not Sh!t. I’d just keep quite an be happy you had a good career, which you would not have had without that “pelican”

    Did someone with a professional background proofread the presentation? There are multiple grammatical, structural, capitalization, consistency issues in the slides. Yikes.
    Especially with the fact that Stern always tries to correct people’s grammar.

    I listened to the show from 1988-2015. When Artie left the show it lost that edge it never recovered from and yes the show was still very good but not like before. It's funny how there was a meeting to find out who leaked the video and they still don't know how it happened. I'm sure we'll find out after the show finally ends.

    Why is it ALL about getting the A list celebrities? The interviews go on forever and its just Howard doing his therapist act on them (prob only reason he is in therapy)
    It also waters down 101 because who wants to hear re runs of those interviews from 10 years ago?
    His most fascinating guests are not A list..

    Siruius Radio may have 23 million listeners, but Howard has about 800,000 daily. But Howard thinks that his show IS Sirius and there are no other stations! I don't know ANYONE who listens to Howard 100.
