I just love the way you make red, orange and yellow blend together excellent. Also, I wanted to say thank you for sharing your work. It makes people like me who are still trying to figure out how to use acrylic paints the right way & what kind of painting you can do. So, from me. I say " thankyou ". ☺
Awesome painting. If you wouldn't mind, please list the colors you used. I love the effect and want to try it. I';m very new to painting so I'm not ready to experiment on colors yet. Thanks.
Hi Ray, I'm trying the technique you show in your videos. I use the canvas on paper. I would like to better understand how to manage to recreate the effect you make after having wet the cloth and buffered with the cloth. Could you explain to me how I can create this effect? Do I have to wait for the first coat of color to dry, paint the second color, wet the canvas and then wipe the cloth? Thank you so much for your help.
Once you've painted a single layer spray the canvas, wait a little bit, then come back and dab the painting with the cloth. You can do this as many times as you wish to create many layers with similar effect.
Thanks a lot for the answer. One last thing, you can use this technique, of the cloth and dab, even on stretched canvas or is it better on a canvas panel? Would you get the same result?
This could use a bit of subtitle direction. For instance, as a complete beginner I have no idea what I am supposed to do. For instance: Is your brush wet or dry? Are you cleaning your brush or grabbing a brand new one? Is your cloth wet or dry?
I'm blown away by this artwork! 💖No experience in painting but I want to learn abstract art. I have a question do I need to let the paint dry before putting on the tape?
Really like your use of water to stiple the wet surface, use it too. when using tape I have used GAC 500 to seal for a crisp edge line….do you? This is a great composition Ray, Thanks for sharing with us. Been trying some of this in larger format. I look orward to each of your videos. Lewis
Wonderful to watch. Beautiful, rich colors. And you make it look so easy. Curious about the thought process before painting is begun. Do you know the shapes and effects you want before starting, or do you just load up the brush and see what happens? I'd love to try something like this, but my brain hits a wall when I try to think where and how to start.
Is there anything we need to do before we start painting? I've started with acrylic recently and the paint never flows smoothly. Doesn't matter how I move the brush, the paint is always broken and appears like dots.
Ray Grimes - Abstract Art ohh okay !! For some reason ,,, I thought English wasn’t your first language ... lol ... !!! Great job .,, your videos are so soothing !!
I've tried the spraying water technique before but am having a hard time getting the same effect. When I do it, I let it sit for a minute and then attempt to dab it up but often it just picks up paint, creating a bumpy texture but not leaving the water effect. Do I need to wait for the paint to dry more before spraying or do you have any other suggestions? Thanks Ray, love your work!
The water droplets will keep the paint from drying while the paint around them starts to dry. Try waiting a little longer after spraying before dabbing.

I haven't tried that. Good tip though. Thanks Lewis :)
Beautiful! Is your brush on the drier side when adding the black? Or does that not matter?

Thanks. Sometimes I just go with the flow, other times I have an idea of what to paint. It's different each time.

Spray the canvas and wait for a little, then dab at the painting with the cloth. The cloth will pick up the wet droplets along with some paint.
Do you apply the tape after the paint has completely dried?
Yes
Adoro😍
Can you please write the name of the colors used in your videos ?
👏👏👏👏👏
