I've heard a lot of horrible versions of the US anthem, but Tiffany's version is not one of them. I'm not a fan of Girls Generation, but - they work really hard, so cut them some goddamn slack.

She can support from G3 (even have some moments of F#3 support and her lower register is probably the second most developed in snsd along with jessica's and even better than taeyeon's) up to Bb4 (she also had moments of resonant A4s) . Tiffany did sing a little out of pitch turthfully, but as far as I understand she did her best, and for a singer who was diagnosed with vocal nodules nad has her vocal range narrowed and has been having vocal disorder up till now, she really sings well. She can be placed among the best in Korea if she has a pristine voice. She meesed up the beginning part, but things got the best for her when the national anthem rose to the middle part till the end. She's truly a great singer.

But of course Whitney Houston's interpretation was splendid. Beyonce's performance was good too. :)

Her strugllng with voice control is nothing new, uncommon or unexpected for Tiffany's vocal covers. She is unnstable in singing especially high notes. But she pulled it off quite well here even though she went a little off key at one point or another. Still sounded much better than assorted anthem singing at baseball games where people tries to adlib their way throughout the whole thing without quite being able to pull it trough.
Um, actually, it's an in-ear monitor. While they have almost the same function IEMs have this ability to minimize noise and be able to hear yourself (plus the accompaniment). So somewhat, you're right since if you have problems with you IEM without any speakers in front of you, you don't know if you're singing on or off key

Wait wait wait wait I think most of you don't undrestand... She DID hit the high notes but with sofly voice or falsetto but she actually DID and with amazing vibratos! That's why people were cheering because that is not easy I think she did a great job!

IMO, they should've re-arranged the song to suit Tiffany's level.. she's always singing outside of her range. the key should have been lowered. star spangled banner is a very hard song to sing so still good attempt to Tiff

I'm late to the party (*cough* at least by 3 years *cough*) And I agree with many commenters who say that Tiffany was tryna flex but failed because she did not acknowledge her limitations (lack of good technique, limited range for a big song, added runs in the most weirdest places when she can't do runs well in the first place). Would also like to add that she had very weak breath support and changes keys very often which makes the whole rendition sound so messy. She should have just kept her rendition simple like Taeyeon and understand what are her limitations as a singer and maybe have the song play in a lower key so that it would match her range. But oh well, this episode is long over and I just feel sad for her if she were to chance upon this video and be reminded that she was overly ambitious and created a fool out of herself for this performance. I'm a fan of Tiffany and Taeyeon in SNSD, so there's no hate here. TL:DR Acknowledge your limitation/weakness and turn it into a strength.
Tiffany was born in San Francisco but moved shortly after to Diamond Bar, California where she lived until she was 14, I think, before she went to South Korea to try out her luck at auditioning.

Guys, use your brain and think for one second, Jessica Jung is from San Francisco, Northern California, while Tiffany Hwang is from Los Angeles, Southern California, which makes Tiff eligible to sing the USA anthem, and who did she represent? The LA Dodgers honey buns, get over it. Her past surgery has affected her voice, and like any other injury even the slightest back injury for example can leave a mark, can we just be glad that she's singing it representing herself a damn proud American? And sweetdumps, I'm not an American and yet I know better. Although, she was born at San Francisco, am I right? But she grew up at L.A so imo its better for her to sing it other than Jessica. WHAT EVEN. Tiffany was amazing! Sure she did messed up a few times, but really, who wouldn't mess up? She's literally guiding the whole America (maybe not whole but you get what i mean) and its only natural for her to feel nervous which eventually leads to mistakes. That sounded heavenly but sorry, Tiffany was pretty good in the beginning but as the high notes came, everything sounded stressed, uncomfortable to listen to. can't even finish her whole part. Her strugllng with voice control is nothing new, uncommon or unexpected for Tiffany's vocal covers. She is unnstable in singing especially high notes.
But she pulled it off quite well here even though she went a little off key at one point or another. Still sounded much better than assorted anthem singing at baseball games where people tries to adlib their way throughout the whole thing without quite being able to pull it trough.
Um, actually, it's an in-ear monitor. While they have almost the same function IEMs have this ability to minimize noise and be able to hear yourself (plus the accompaniment). So somewhat, you're right since if you have problems with you IEM without any speakers in front of you, you don't know if you're singing on or off key
if u're a profesional singer u should be able to sing the whole song once u've heard the 1st chord or the key playing.......even i can do that

Wait wait wait wait I think most of you don't undrestand... She DID hit the high notes but with sofly voice or falsetto but she actually DID and with amazing vibratos! That's why people were cheering because that is not easy I think she did a great job!
she strained, was off key here and there, and her voice cracked, I think that's why people were criticizing.. also, switching to falsetto meant she couldn't reach that note. vibrato is always more for style, and just because you hear vibrato, it doesn't mean much. IMO, they should've re-arranged the song to suit Tiffany's level.. she's always singing outside of her range. the key should have been lowered. star spangled banner is a very hard song to sing so still good attempt to Tiff

And I agree with many commenters who say that Tiffany was tryna flex but failed because she did not acknowledge her limitations (lack of good technique, limited range for a big song, added runs in the most weirdest places when she can't do runs well in the first place).
Would also like to add that she had very weak breath support and changes keys very often which makes the whole rendition sound so messy.
She should have just kept her rendition simple like Taeyeon and understand what are her limitations as a singer and maybe have the song play in a lower key so that it would match her range.
But oh well, this episode is long over and I just feel sad for her if she were to chance upon this video and be reminded that she was overly ambitious and created a fool out of herself for this performance.
I'm a fan of Tiffany and Taeyeon in SNSD, so there's no hate here.

Tiffany was born in San Francisco but moved shortly after to Diamond Bar, California where she lived until she was 14, I think, before she went to South Korea to try out her luck at auditioning.

From what I heard, she can't reach high notes because of her throat problems. I, myself, can barely sing high notes because of my asthma yet here she is singing ALL the notes of the anthem for a country that she doesn't even live in anymore.
She knows more lyrics than most people in our country and she actually has the guts to try the high notes even with her condition.
