Excellent instructions, simple and efficient, all this lag, hold the angle, rotate the body nonsense has destroyed more golfers tham i care to imagine. I'm almost 70 and play on the course with L to L which in reality turns into a 3/4 swing back and through. I still get it out there distance wise and play of a low single digit handicap. Most importantly is easy on my damaged old body. Anyone looking to improve, fast, simply practice L to L you'll be surprised how far you'll be able to carry the ball

This is it!!! 🎉 I’m a great believer in the ‘feet together’ drill but I’ve been doing it all wrong. Left elbow bending through 🐓wing and facing the target too soon. This brilliant explanation has changed everything in my mind and my swing. It takes repetition to get out of old habits but it’s worth it when you can see the end result is what you’ve been searching for, forever! Thank you 🎉

I really like your jam Andrew, your Britishness gives you an advantage over so many American coaches who are nowhere near as articulate and often fail to get to the point. It always amazes me when I see guys with arms like noodles who can carry drives 300 yards with apparently little effort, clearly the effective application of ground forces, linear speed in the arms, angular speed with the hands and wrists and a good hip turn add up to club head speed that’s probably 25mph faster than guys who use muscle! Easier said than done!
I’ve lost a lot of my Britishness having been in the States for so many years! (lol). I’ve found that the art of instruction is less about impressing and more about taking complex ideas and expressing them into simple to understand points! Believe me when I say - that part is easier said than done!! Thanks for watching and welcome aboard! Coach A. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
For years I attempted the L to L without much success, now I understand why, I was casting the club from the top and getting the arms down first like you demonstrated, thanks Pro

This is Gold! One of the best videos on releasing the energy into the clubhead. So many of us are working so hard moving our hands and bodies through the impact zone but are dragging the club through this zone. Andrew can you talk about where the energy is going into the backswing and downswing. I know you talk about it here but I think people need to know from an energy and speed section of each arc of the backswing and downswing. Most AMs think they go slow to the top of the backswing then throw all the energy out at the top of the downswing. Somebody needs to map out the power pulses in the arc of the swing from start to ending of backswing to starting of downswing to impact. I think you are the guy to do it. Thank you for this video - just subscribed.
As always great advice from Coach A.! I like how you described this as a blend, so much information on the swing isolates individual movements, but as you clearly explain it is an amalgamation of movements ( the kinetic chain ) . We do this in other sports such as throwing, baseball, tennis, without thinking but because the ball in golf is stationary we have this innate HIT tendency which messes us up big time. Great video…keep them coming. Cheers from Nova Scotia. MikeR.

Andrew, I really like the swing feel of keeping the back to the target. One thing I am noticing, though, is I am under the plane when I do this and sometimes by a lot. When things go bad for me it is usually because of a big hook sometimes bordering on the 🦆 hook. I know without seeing a swing your totally flying blind, but is it possible I need to rotate more? You, btw, should have a million subscribers. If your a slicer, after watching your videos for awhile and practicing the drills that slice will disappear. 👊 🤘
If your arms are deep and the clubs mass works out in front of your hands as you approach the ball the hook is highly unlikely! I am indeed flying blind however experience tells me that you’re either on plane but over rotating OR under the plane which requires a flip! I would keep the same feel making sure the club isn’t dropping behind you as you transition. Get Steeper!!! Happy to take a look if your family wants to treat you this holiday season!!! 🏌️♂️⛳️🎅 ua-cam.com/video/kBM0dV95Ln0/v-deo.htmlsi=YjxSpwRzSU8oHEzn

But what really hit home was getting the hands deeper over the heel line! I just gained 10 - 15 yards with my wedges! Can’t wait to hit all my clubs.
Never could quite grasp impact with the L to L. Seems like the club head is turning too much. I know this is my lack of concept. Would appreciate some content on this. Thanks. Great instruction.
Andrew, I just ran across another UA-camr that teaches the swing very similarly to you. Are you familiar with the Warren Bennet Golf Academy? He's based in Chestfield. His mantra is "Less Is More" in the golf swing. Check him out and you will see how similar his swing principals are, but he uses slightly different drills and terminology. Andrew, your videos are very helpful. I am 72 and have lost alot of distance over the last few years along with lower back problems. This is a great, very informative. What I’m trying to determine is how you can get the butt of the club to stop as the hands whip through at a high swing speed, as opposed to more of a throw from the top? Thx!
Like any new motor pattern, you start slowly Travis! I recommend the Hitchhiker Drill off a tee to start. You are in effect (to your point) throwing the club as your body is turning through. The butt end of the club simply changes direction through impact. It’s not so much about determining HOW but rather ALLOWING it to happen naturally, the arms want to swing freely and the wrists want to articulate! When golfers stop hitting and start SWINGING much of this happens automatically with no effort whatsoever! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻 PS “Watch my next video (Tomorrow!) You’ll see how transformative “Releasing your Speed can be!”
For me @2 meters the feeling was like I was whipping the club head. But I didn’t realize that the translation point was so low. It added 15 mph to my club head speed. I don’t spray the ball as well. I think I’m still turning to soon ..Going to work on your drill. Thanks
It’s a flexed to extended lead wrist through the ball which keeps the club face remarkable square to the path as you “release” your speed! You’re referring to an OPEN to CLOSED release pattern which is not what I’m prescribing! That pattern was very common in the 80’s and 90’s in particular. Hopefully this YT short helps. Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻 ua-cam.com/users/shorts6rRFjEoiXII?si=iTgfFhAuoFWciZ-H

Here’s a link if you want to check it out! scramblersgolf.com/ Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
So many reasons for missing left. Start by checking your club face AIM at address. And make sure you keep your weight favoring your front foot with your wedges. If you’re stuck on your trail foot that can be a big contributor to left misses! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
That is not normal at all!? Please stop doing the drill if it brings you any discomfort or pain! If the pain persists I would consult with a Doctor. Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Rick, there’s a marriage between the glide phase and the arms. Keep your back to the target as you transition, that’s extremely important! Feel your arms working down as you engage your lead foot simultaneously! Most golfers spin too soon throwing the club out and getting it trapped behind them! Thanks for watching! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Studio looks great. Can you address what will square the club face? I've been practicing these drills but sometimes with longer irons I'll hook and with driver at times the face is open and I'll slice. Thanks for the video.
@@topgunbass that sounds neutral which is a great place to be. Do you feel you might be getting a little spinny with the driver and dragging the handle?
@@wasatchgolfacademy1046 I can guess that I'm maybe late squaring the face as I drop it down. I don't think I'm dragging the handle. Maybe it a timing thing and I need to practice more. I can hit several nice drives and then have an errant one here and there. I guess I imagine a low handicap not missing much. I'm an 18 hdc.
It’s impossible to swing your arms without the thoracic segment engaging! Just make sure you keep your back to the target as you change direction Gary! Your chest will be facing the ball and then facing the target before you know it! It will react dynamically! The trick is to remain relaxed and to get some energy into the club with the arms early! Simply allow your chest to respond to that linear momentum. Cheers! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
12:47 Guy swings in slow motion and hits his 7 iron 162 yards barely lifting his right heel off the ground. I think I need new clubs, or at least a more expensive quality. My 73 mph 7 iron gets me about 140 yards carry.
Make sure you have a good grip!! Then simply swing your arms faster and quieten your body! At that point start to introduce your body as a “force multiplier!!!” Thanks for watching! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Hi Larry, I just ran a couple of tests. One through my contact page and another via a separate email account and both were received okay. I’ve had people send emails to andrewemerygolf.com. My email has a (.) between Emery and golf. It’s andrewemery.golf.com. Can you give it another try and lmk. Thanks you! A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
The linear forces that initiate the transition are extremely important. The lower body needs to glide as the arms work down simultaneously!Your low point is strongly influenced by the initial glide as you change direction. Most golfers spin their bodies to soon! If the club head passes the hands prior to impact then you need to work on your body dynamics! At that point a more supported release is required!! I believe that linear and angular forces should be engaged first for most golfers! Hitting a hook gives you ‘permission’ to improve! Weak slices do not! Thanks for watching! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Enjoy the journey. I am stuck in my golf swing. I love everyday I have a chance to be a better Christian and better golfer!.God has a sense of humor with the golf tho! Thank you for the video. I am gonna try this today in garden
@@AndrewEmeryGolf Jam is better because it involves 3 simultaneous factors jammed together into the slot ; body glide no spin, arms moving down, back facing target.

PS “Watch my next video (Tomorrow!) You’ll see how transformative “Releasing your Speed can be!”
For me @2 meters the feeling was like I was whipping the club head. But I didn’t realize that the translation point was so low. It added 15 mph to my club head speed. I don’t spray the ball as well. I think I’m still turning to soon ..Going to work on your drill. Thanks
Get after it! Thanks for watching!

I was always under the impression that L to L promoted flipping of the hands/club/(Old school way of swinging a golf club). Or is that not the case?
It’s a flexed to extended lead wrist through the ball which keeps the club face remarkable square to the path as you “release” your speed!
You’re referring to an OPEN to CLOSED release pattern which is not what I’m prescribing! That pattern was very common in the 80’s and 90’s in particular. Hopefully this YT short helps.

Ah, thank you for clarifying!
Enjoying and learning from your videos and knowledge. Awesome work Andrew! Where is your studio located? Is it in Scramblers golf Mt. Pleasant? Thank you sir.
I have a home Studio I use for my online lessons or for anyone wishing to work with me 1:1 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Scramblers is a fantastic facility, they’ve been very good to me - allowing me to work with their members at the club.
Here’s a link if you want to check it out!

Love it when I do this sometimes the ball goal is it’s more of a pull to the left on my right hand player. What am I doing wrong?
So many reasons for missing left. Start by checking your club face AIM at address. And make sure you keep your weight favoring your front foot with your wedges. If you’re stuck on your trail foot that can be a big contributor to left misses! Thanks for watching!

Andrew, I've got a strong grip and the "L to L" drill hurts like hell on my wrists on the follow through. That normal? Thanks!
That is not normal at all!? Please stop doing the drill if it brings you any discomfort or pain! If the pain persists I would consult with a Doctor. Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
@@AndrewEmeryGolf Thanks! Maybe my grip is too strong. I'll adjust.
Down swing starts with arms or lower body ?
Rick, there’s a marriage between the glide phase and the arms. Keep your back to the target as you transition, that’s extremely important! Feel your arms working down as you engage your lead foot simultaneously!
Most golfers spin too soon throwing the club out and getting it trapped behind them!
Thanks for watching!

Studio looks great. Can you address what will square the club face? I've been practicing these drills but sometimes with longer irons I'll hook and with driver at times the face is open and I'll slice. Thanks for the video.
Is your grip weak, neutral or strong?
@@wasatchgolfacademy1046 left hand 2 knuckles, right hand neutral
@@topgunbass that sounds neutral which is a great place to be. Do you feel you might be getting a little spinny with the driver and dragging the handle?
@@wasatchgolfacademy1046 I can guess that I'm maybe late squaring the face as I drop it down. I don't think I'm dragging the handle. Maybe it a timing thing and I need to practice more. I can hit several nice drives and then have an errant one here and there. I guess I imagine a low handicap not missing much. I'm an 18 hdc.
@@topgunbass low handicaps miss drives trust me on that. They hit errant shots as well. We all do!
When do we follow with the chest? After contact or at the same time?
It’s impossible to swing your arms without the thoracic segment engaging! Just make sure you keep your back to the target as you change direction Gary!
Your chest will be facing the ball and then facing the target before you know it! It will react dynamically! The trick is to remain relaxed and to get some energy into the club with the arms early!
Simply allow your chest to respond to that linear momentum.

@@AndrewEmeryGolf ty sir.
Especially when I’m hitting wedges
12:47 Guy swings in slow motion and hits his 7 iron 162 yards barely lifting his right heel off the ground. I think I need new clubs, or at least a more expensive quality.
My 73 mph 7 iron gets me about 140 yards carry.
Make sure you have a good grip!! Then simply swing your arms faster and quieten your body! At that point start to introduce your body as a “force multiplier!!!” Thanks for watching!

Hi Larry, I just ran a couple of tests. One through my contact page and another via a separate email account and both were received okay. I’ve had people send emails to andrewemerygolf.com. "SLING" is the word to use for a golf swing.
95 % people use rigid slowness Not supple quickness.
Supple quickness! Love it!
Thanks for watching!
Coach A. ⛳️🙏🏻🏌️♂️
When is the point of no return as to when the club kicks out and head takes over through finish. How far is enough to not drag the handle

Jam is better because it involves 3 simultaneous factors jammed together into the slot ; body glide no spin, arms moving down, back facing target.
Gold.
