What a song for memories. I was 10 years old then, and n 1956 had escaped from Communist Hungary. Never did see a TV let alone such happy guys as these. Then I asked my step-dad can I have 25 cents to see Zorro at the village movies. He said I should learn to work for it. So I got a job mowing lawn in summer and shoveling snow in Winter. Each week I went to see Zorro as part of the short-shorts which went on and on so you would come back. By 4th grade, I had set aside some money and bought my first All Stars sneakers.
Btw, why should he be nervous? They only had to show up and mime as the song was already on the speakers so to speak. Maybe he was nervous being in front of all these white kids? You know, segregation and all - and maybe or possibly he had some bad memories from childhood? Keep it in mind.
@@musicman201047Are you out of your mind. I made a plausible explanation why the black fellow might be nervous. You know as well as I that race thing was still big in US in the 50s & that was bad so don't come with some stupid "race card" here accusing me you mf.
I remember when my brother was 14 and I was 10. He kept playing this song on his transistor radio and singing along to it. My dad looked at him and said "I wish you would get a job". I laughed so hard that day and still do till this day RIP Dad.

I got a job across the street from the McDonald's that used to play this song, and fired me. That's a job! Showed you right McDonald's. Thanks for my start. And I'm doing the same job.
I was listening to " Memories " by Barbara Streisand and through about this song, 'Get a Job', with the Bip Bip's and the Bom Bom's at eleven and " People ", at fifteen, as Streisand's singing the lyrics " what's to painful to remember ", " We simply choose to forget " and thought " Oh, NOW I Understand ".
Check out the beginning of the video, the word "Breathless" appears at the top of the Top 10 chart, the reason was that if you mailed in five Beech-Nut Gum wrappers and 50 cents for shipping & handling, you would receive an copy of the record "Breathless", and it was autographed by Jerry Lee Lewis... The show received 48,000 requests... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012} and The Killer celebrated his 77th birthday this past September 29th...

Raymond Edwards(bass) looked so nervous in this video. He had no reason to be,he was one of the best bass voices of the doo wop era.

"see Louis bet me that we both couldn't get rich and put yall in the poor house at the same time."
