I was 10 years old here with my dad at this event. Great memories. I just got back from Houston and the final Spring Nationals race with my 12 year old daughter. Its amazing how time flies.

How many of you grew fond of those single magneto nitro burnouts and funny car dry hops? Man do I ever miss that. That great sound is just not there any more at an NHRA event.

This event ended in 1990 and the entire era in a way ended for all the races when only the richest competitors could compete any longer.

+Dave McFarland Dave the golden era of the NHRA was from the mid 80's all the way though the 90's. It started to falter as the legends started to retire and nobody with the same personalities accept for Force was left. His domination of FC turned off tons of fans. The death of popular drivers like Blaine Johnson and Scott Kalitta didn't help and finally shortening the races to 1,000 ft is the worst decision, that's the same as playing 7 man football, it shouldn't have happen. The truth is the tracks that couldn't handle cars going 320-330 mph should have been taken off the schedule and new facilities built. Sigh I am going to stop my rant but you get the point.

+Anthony Thomas I agree. I have lost a lot of desire to even attend races.
