The Word was a fantastic show too. To have that opportunity early in my 20's to meet Ian Astbury, The Cult, Kurt Cobain, Marc Almond, Inspiral Carpets, Oasis, etc the list goes on, so many legends! I feel I've truly lived. I can't say enough about Christian either, true gentleman.
I had the absolute pleasure of driving The Cult back to their hotel in Hammersmith that night after The Word. Minus Billy and another guitarist- i think from Balaam n Angel one......but I've never not forgotten my cherished tambourine.... Love, Peace, Harmony, Ian, Catra. And that we had John Hurt in common as our favorite actor, The Doors as our favorite band and Quentin Tarantino as our fcouldn't
i was just absolutely gutted, Ian put me on The Cult's guest list to a London gig that Christmas, as a thank you for the lift, then our mutual contact on The Word went off sick....so i had no contact. Booked Manchester and Nottingham tour dates, went with my sister, even took the tambourine. But I'm not sure she believes that i drove them to their hotel in Hammersmith this night. It would make my dream come true to take her, to a cult gig and say, "hay up Ian, thanks for this tambourine and see her swoon". About half my life later. I always say, "If theirs's ever a house fire, Ian's tambourine and her Cat Mask-from Milan-the eyes wide shut movie, are what I'm picking up and running out my door with". x
I wonder if they told Ian not to say fuck and he was like " catch me at 1:18..." haha Love this band and this album was so risky. One more reason for me to love the CULT!!!!
A band is more than just one or two major albums mate. They were beginning to enjoy music again with this album. Rather than having to produce another Electric or Sonic Temple just because the label wanted them to.
I thought that when the 'Black Sheep' album came out. But now, i realize that it is an incredibly mature record. I listen to it all the time, unlike the 80's albums. Also, Beyond Good and Evil and Choice of Weapon are great albums.

If anyone asks me: "Which is your favorite rock song?" I would reply: "This one."
Ian has to be one of the most underrated front men in rock
BlueMonk25 absolutely! The sheer body and quality of their work is incredible. A fantastic front man.
Went to see the cult in Portsmouth couple weeks ago and at age 62 its like he hasnt aged at all! Still good as ever!
