Great job!! I have seen that my old oil filter was a febi with the wrong oring (maybe that it has caused a massive leaking?) . Now with the mahle oil filter , it looks everything as the original one. I changed the seal of oil housing filter, and hope that i solved any oil leaking problem. Thanks again for sharing all your job!!
I always change the oil and filter every 10k km and the air filter every second time so 20k km🙃 no need to change the air filter as often as oil i think
@ililiililliliill9498 I change the oil every 5k miles or 8k km and air filter probably every 2 years as the climate in Northern Ireland is very wet and it is less dusty than other countries🤝🏻
There are some changes over the years. Early models like mine have the big air filter, the newer models have made some small changes to the N57 and air filter housing is one of these changes. Thanks for watching
I bought 3 of these Febi 38530 oil filters for my 2013 E70 N57. They all came with the wrong o-ring/seal for installing in the cap. The original one is a flat rubber seal ring but the Febi filters came with a u-shaped rubber ring seal (a wide seal with a groove in it). Completely useless, so I had to use the old seal.
First check if you can remove the plastic filter housing or not. No need to drain the old oil if you cant even change the filter. You can also let some air in by removing the oil filler cap for easy drainage.
I never do engine flush. Fresh oil and filter is the only thing you need and no additives. If you change your oil regularly it will keep the engine clean. You can drain the engine quicker with warm engine but I always take my time and give it plenty of time to fully drain so not worried if engine is warm or cold. Remember I change my oil at 5k miles so the internals of the engine are as clean as they can be🤝🏻
I watch one of your video where you repair a BMW with a problem! DRIVETRAIN was shown on the dashboard… So I am the OWN Of a BMW 520d 2015 and I have the same problem

@Tonino-r6p You are welcome🤝🏻
When you did the oil and filter y did you not do the air filter because it is cheap and easy y
I didn't do it as it was only replaced a few months ago by the owner. When he came for the next service I installed a new Febi air filter

Why do some f10's have that massive filter toward the firewall whereas others (like mine) have a small panel filter?
Great video brother.

Thanks for sharing this. Might be best to let them know. They are usually great when it comes to fitment but mistakes happen.
Super video .Thank you.🚙

Do you have to drain oil before changing filter?
Yes, loosen oil filter housing a bit to drain the oil from it into the sump, then drain oil from sump🤝

what do you spray??
Brake cleaner spray. I buy it in bulk containers as it is cheaper and dispense it in a smaller spray bottle
No engine flush, no letting the engine run before draining?

Great vid thankyou. Same amount of oil in a 520D or would it be less?
Hi Steven. Glad you like the video. I have many videos on the F10 model. 520d F10 would hold about 5.2litres.
