Olly heads to RaceCal to get his EP3 Type R mapped by Romain. Romain is an OG in the Honda mapping game and has all the experience you could ever ask for when it comes to the K20 engine. The Skunk2 Tuner Drop In Cams are designed to increase peak horsepower by at least 10hp. That, coupled with the Solid Fab Big Bore Exhaust Manifold and Super Silent 3 inch cat back exhaust system should allow the K20a2 to get the air flowing out. The mods flowing more air in are unchanged from the previous map. A Tegiwa Carbon Induction kit mounted to a standard throttle body which leads into a Skunk2 Ultra Street Inlet manifold. 410cc RDX injectors provide the right amount of fuel to run the cams. Once the Civic is mapped, the F20 Turbo Ford Sierra makes its way onto the dyno built by Ignite Automotive.

Great content as always man! Loving the new set up 🔥 summer gonna be a madness!!
Appreciate it man! You know it!
Absolutely love watching your vids mate! I’ve just started on the Ep3 scene and currently building a hillclimb car, your vid’s have been very helpful! Keep up the great content 🤙🏼
Thanks man! Really appreciate you watching! I am glad you have found them useful
Thank you heaps for putting up all the dyno graph info and digging into how the numbers work out - i now have something to compare against my jdm ep3 with its bits - thank you :) I feel a lot happier about mine now :)
No worries! That’s exactly why I wanted it in the video! Looking to help out as much as possible!
Let’s go dude another banger and a great number ❤
Thanks man! Appreciate you watching!
What an epic car and top bloke! Loving the videos Olly
Thanks man! Much appreciated! Glad you are enjoying the content! Took your advice on the bigger exhaust 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@OllyRoss nice one! Romain done some good work there as per usual. What’s next for the car?
Yeah man. It’s definitely feeling better now the exhaust isn’t holding it back. Got some cool stuff coming but I can’t give too much away
@@OllyRoss I look forward to the video!
Mate , you are so lucky to have Romaine the magician work on your dynotune. That Graph is a beautiful linear power curve. ive seen many a k20 with peaks and troughs and luls in the curve. You have a dynamic and greatly achieved HP figure. 255 is an excellent outcome. enjoy man.
Thanks man! Very happy with the curve! Super smooth and linear! It’s feeling great!
Awesome vid man, makes me want to get drop in cams 😭 the explanation from Romain was extremely insightful, thank you for sharing his wisdom!
Thanks man! Glad you found it useful! Sorry in advance to your bank account! Haha
Such a great build, something so good about a Honda Type R
Thanks man! Appreciate it! They are pretty rad! Haha
I've just purchased the same cams and injectors as you. I'm super stoked after watching this video!
You have some exciting times ahead then! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
@@OllyRoss Just thought I'd give you an update since I have a similar setup (+ a 70mm throttle body). I had my ep3 mapped by Romain and it made 266bhp!
@@WillAyeAce Congrats man! A nice strong power figure that! The car feels so different now doesn't it?!
you're in very good hands there Olly, I've been working with Romain for nearly 9 years. He's top of his game!
For sure man! A true OG in the game! Very happy with the results
Great result 🤩👌👌
Yeah man! Very happy with it!
Romain is a solid name to go to for mapping Hondas! Good choice Olly!
Yeah man! A master at work!
Lovely car mate -enjoy
Thanks! That is what I plan to do!
nice vid as always Olly! any particular reason why you not went with the new HPP cams? Tegiwa claims they are better than the skunk2 DIC
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed. They are only marginally better in some areas compared to the Skunk2. However, they are far more expensive. For me, it wasn’t worth another £400-500 on top of the Skunk2 cam cost
@@OllyRoss thx mate!
Very good ollie nice to see she made good power 👌 nice healthy engine 👍 😊
Thanks man! Yeah, glad to see that I have a good engine! Haha
Definitely need more of dyno content
Not sure when I will have my cars on the dyno again but I may be around for some other things on a dyno!
Great numbers! Can’t wait to see a proper test drive in dry conditions 👌
Thanks man! Next video is the first drive video
Congrats Olly on the whole journey of the build, is this it for the civic now?
Thanks! This is it for the power but I still have a few cool things coming with the Civic. Plenty more EP3 videos now it’s the way it is too!
@@OllyRoss thats great to hear dude, keep em coming! have you seen this channel yet? www.youtube.com/@LHTPerformance
Legend Romain
100% agree! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Great video. I wish Romain could tune my car out here in South Africa😢
He his an absolute legend! Message him as he might be able to do remote tuning! (Don’t know for sure)
How big is the exit of the header? I've got almost the same parts. Got a Tegiwa header customised to 3 inch exit and a Solid Fab 3 inch catback. Thinking of changing it to the same exhaust as yours. How is the noise at highway speed? Mine got 255hp to with Dragcartel drop in cams. Great car and great youtube channel. Tnx for making this clips :) Greetz from Holland!
The exit is a 3” to meet up to the solid fab cat back. It’s probably not going to make much difference to your numbers. There is a chance you could loose a couple peak horsepower with the big bore manifold but could gain some torque. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth changing from your current set up. The manifold probably won’t make too much of a difference to your volume either. This set up is way quieter than my previous one!
Olly, with the new cams and the VTEC limit moved back up, how do you find that? Would that put you off installing the cams again? I'm currently on stock cams and like the VTEC a bit lower. Love to know what you think, cheers 👍
I don't really mind it moved back up because of how smooth it is now. It is still lower than standard though. I don't really feel the "kick" anymore anyway. It just feels so effortless now
What oil are you running?
Got my Nct (Irish mot) today for mine cars been off the road for a year
Hope it all goes well!
How much was this tune? Also what ECU do they tune on? I have an S2000 that I am currently building with a turbo and looking for a good tuner
Tune and Dyno Hire was £630. This is mapped on a Hondavert ECU board. Im not too sure whether it can be used with the F series engine but their website says it is possible. The Sierra with the Turbo S2000 engine at the end of this video was mapped using a Haltech 1500 Standalone ECU
Where is your fuel rail from mate? Looks smart
It was from Kaizen when they were around but I think it is just a generic one and then it has a carbon skin on the top. No links to it unfortunately!
Would be good to sack off that intake. Tegiwa isn’t the one for best power, but good figures none the less.
For me, it’s a good middle ground! Not hunting total power output in every area. I still have the standard throttle body too. If I do a K24 frank in the future then I would switch it up.
I love the carbon too so it’s worth it for me.
What would you say is the best intake
@@stevesracingbits short pipe off the throttle body. 3” or 3.5” depending on spec of engine. 3” or 3.5” velocity stack with open filter and then a direct cold air feed.
@@joshwatton9335 Exactly, 3 or 3.5 with velocity stack no filter, running straight down instead of back by the header. It's a noticeable difference. Look up the Hybrid Racing cold air intake.
@@stevesracingbits Number 1: skunk2 CAI , they have proved a great HP maker on many dyno runs at dynodaze.
CPL BIG bore CAI is a good one too.
As is the Hybrid racing CAI.
are you still running hondavert ecu? did dynodaze not lock your ecu off?
They only lock the map they put on it, you can upload a new map but can't amend the one that they have uploaded
Tuner protection doesn’t lock Ecu out
I have the Hondavert ECU still and Romain has replaced the Dynodaze map with this one. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What sort of price did you pay for the map? Can romain supply the ecu too?
I paid £350 for the map I think and £280 for the dyno hire. He can’t supply the Hondavert but I do think he can supply the Kpro
Any reason you didn’t go back to dynodayze?
👀👀
Because they are shite.
I think when the engine has cams and lots of mods, it probably needs a more custom tune than they can offer
I think they mostly do stock/bolt on cars, rather than cars with manifolds and cams etc
@@quest8795 I know for a fact that that isn’t true 🤷🏽♂️ they map loads of cars with cams and intake manifolds, they do loads of turbo and supercharger conversions too
@@MXTR16 fair enough then, maybe it was just Olly's choice
What power is it making, before cams?
With the previous map it was making 221hp peak power
You need to sort the rust under the car, that would be Nice to follow!
That is the plan too! Seriously expensive though so hopefully it's something I can make happen this year
What was the torque it made also
222.8 NM 👍🏻
How’s the drone with this setup
Nothing like the Spoon system. So far it’s far more liveable. Will be making more exhaust videos in the future though so stay tuned
195 wheel and 250 fly seems like a lot of drivetrain loss? Either way, great graph, sure it's lovely to drive
Yeah, bit of an odd one. But yeah, the graph shows how great the car is to drive
@@OllyRoss That is a bit odd, i would think 255 at wheels with your set up, and by looking at that nice torque curve and number. I made 205 at wheel with cheap intake and cheap 2.5 in exhaust, in hot weather.
every dyno reads different. This car on another dyno could show over 205 at the wheels. A dyno is of value when you use the SAME one to reference progression of additional mods (and each gain) over time.
How many miles has the engine?
134k miles
Thank god you went to a good tuner rather than say Dynotwats.
Spray contact adhesive on slowly spinning warm tires, wait a minute or two and the wheel spin will be gone.
We tried that too. It wasn't enough on this occasion. It is all sorted now, there is another video on the channel of it on the dyno again
What's the cost of the map?
I don't know if it varies based on where you are but I paid for Romain separately from the hire of the dyno. £350 of Romain's services and £280 for the dyno hire (I was only 1 of 3 cars on the day)
@@OllyRoss expensive then with dyno hire
Yeah it was. Not sure whether that is the case with other dynos. Could also be cheaper per car if there were 5-6 cars on the same day/session 🤷🏻♂️
Around 252 bhp simlar set up like my mine
Nice man! It’s feeling good so far!
He has a french accent 😅
He certainly does
