Could we add the cheese to the heated milk instead? Then add the onion soup mix. For ease of melting?

When I was a kid I used to look forward to H&J Smiths where the cafe did cheese rolls. Childhood memories.

Live in Northland, have heard about these famous cheese rolls from Southland... have tried 3 sites and this looks original and makes common sense. Thanks a lot, cheers!

I moved to NZ 5 years ago, and was introduced to the routine food, like pavlova, mince n cheese pie, etc. One day learned about these cheese rolls, and now it's really popular with my family here and back home too!
Had no idea you could freeze it! Will try this recipe next time. Thank you a lot!

Tkx so much for your video. We heard about cheese rolls while watching the show Brokenwood on TV, and wondered what they were! Delightful 🥰

My wife & I are UK residents. Like many others here we had not been aware of the NZ cheese rolls existence. The TV series The Brokenwood Mysteries brought them & other things NZ to our attention. It’s a pity the series omitted to mention motorcycle street & track racing.

I really need to try these, they look so good! And I love food that I can just take out of the freezer and into the oven. Greetings from Germany :)

These were great as student, well done to you and mum!🤘👏👏 Never thought about evaporate milk or onion soup. I did grated cheese, finely chopped onion, tablespoon of grain mustard and chopped fried bacon till its spreadable. Your way is faster.🥰👍 Thankyou, absolutely keeping!

I think this looks like an evolved version of Julia Child's onion soup (I watched her video yesterday)!
I'll try to make these, but in my airfryer.
