When I went to Korea, this was a bit of a culture shock to me how locals are feeling so safe and comfortable to leave their belongings at the seats unattended, like I saw some very expensive designer handbags just being left at the seats. I live in Toronto and I would never ever do that. Even leaving my laptop there and just go to the washroom gets me very anxious, that’s why I cannot sit and work at a cafe for the entire day, when I need to go to the washroom, it’s a sign for me to pack my stuff and leave. And I’ve been to over 30 countries and really only have seen Korea, Japan and maybe Taiwan locals would do that.

Singaporeans too! It's a habit that's hard to shake off. I currently live in the US, and recently left a relatively expensive bag unattended (about 3 metres away from me) for a bit while posing for a photograph, and my American friends were freaking out. But in Singapore, people leave all sorts of expensive things unattended all the time.

This reminds me of Germans on vacation reserving a lounger with towels. In Korea people reserve tables with laptops 😂. And Germans reserve them very early in the morning & don’t use them for many hours. I know I’m comparing pears with apples but it makes me giggle inside.

I live in Chicago, USA. The weekend is not over yet but we had 38 people shot with 6 killed in the past 2 and a half days. Add to that a ton of car jackings, armed robberies and burglaries. I know I maybe comparing apples to oranges but I don't think there's any downside of being "too safe." On a completely different note, I'm a huge fan of your "every day" videos!

The real sad thing is that most Chicagoans, including myself are immune to this kind of violence; we just think of this as a sad, sad statistic. Numbers like this are prevalent in the summer when it's hot and dry. Yes, weather plays a huge role as winter months bring a lower the number of shootings.
I live in the U.S and I also think that there's no downside to a safe society. I feel like it's turning into a nightmare here.🙁

I am the same as Kyuho, when i was younger, i often wore black clothes and in summer i felt just fine and now for a while i can't stand heat, eyes become sensitive and try to wear light and thin clothes. I'm like a vampire walking in the shades 😆

@eileenhathaway1674 - I'm the same, I'm subscribed to most of the Korean walker vlogs. Great video to have play when I'm working at my desk so I kind of feel like I'm outside and not stuck inside.
I have my storage under the ceiling. Hooks, nets and long linnen tarps. You forget its there, especially if your ceilings are high like yours is. You could start small. Put up a couple of hooks, get the net, and put all your food items currently stored under that cloth at the wall, up there. It will make your space feel much bigger :)

When I arrived here in Korea, the first day I went to a coffee shop I took all my stuff from the table to go to the toilet (as we used to do in latin america if we are alone in a place), then when I came back to the table, the rest of my coffee and cake were already cleaned 😅😂 they taught I was leaving hahaha I just didn't know (or trust -in my little knowledge about korean culture) about this cultural thing of leaving your stuff unattended!! Nowadays, I do 🤭 In Japan, they do the same as well...

오랫만에 영상을 보게 됐는데 벌써 20만이 되셨군요^^ 축하드립니다. 꽤 오래전 길냥이 급여 영상을 보면서 시청하게 됐는데 저도 그 무렵 가게를 시작하며 길냥이들 밥을 챙겨주게 됐었어요. 떠나고 새로 들어오는 일이 반복됐는데 사람 인생사와 비슷하구나 싶었네요.
한국의 여름은 뭐랄까 20년전 서울에 올라와 겪었던 여름과 비교할 때 많이 더워졌어요. 당시 막내 생활하며 느꼈던 5월 28도 더위는 라디오에서 역대급 더위라며 호들갑이었는데 이젠 기본이 되버렸죠. 옛날의 한국은 여름이라면 겨우 3개월 가량 지나면 크게 덥지 않았는데 이젠 아열대 기후 같은 느낌이에요.
장마 시즌이 다가오는데 안전하게 잘 지나가길 바래봅니다.

A thought, how about a nice design sheet for summer then a blanket for winter. My parents added a large in closed porch attached to the house over the back door and went down the side of the garage. Also connecting the garage door 🚪. My parents added a hot tub, which our father built a split covering so we could us it in the winter as well.

I wish i lived in a place where it was so safe you dont have to be on high alert and guard ur things all the time . I can see how it is a con like you said ppl leave their items to grab a bite etc and take up the seat so no one else can enjoy that seat while they are away.

I was talking with a friend about the oil blotter paper from gatsby when I lived in Japan. He was saying he thinks that toilet seat covers are made of the same material, but I was like I’m not going to go around with toilet seat covers to use in public on my face, lol.

Oof another downside to feeling too safe is when Koreans study abroad. I went to an international school and I heard on several occasions that Koreans got their stuff stolen when outside in my country (the Netherlands) or while on break in another European country. I had to tell many foreign students (not just Koreans) that when your bike or detachable bike lights gets stolen, you'll feel more like a Dutchie. It's like a thing that has to happen to you before you feel at home here. It often happens in the first few months though🤦🏼♀️
Sarah I like your blue dress. Where did you get it? Regarding heat that must have been almost 15 years ago that you started dating? Korea is hotter due to climate change and naturally as you get older heat tolerance decreases. I like all seasons including winter, but too many hours in the sun can affect me.

Maybe you should go through all your belongings and do a purge? You have another storage room in the apartment too, yes? That way you might find that you have more storage than you think. Me and my partner who lives in a studio apartment used to do that and it's so nice. We only keep what's important, so essentialists. I'm European, but there's 300,000 items in the average American home. That's insane :O
The other storage room is for our jackets, coats, winter clothes, and where we store our suitcases :) We do a purge there every fall when we put away our summer clothes and take out the fall/winter ones. The veranda is where we need to store things like detergent, cat litter, food items, etc. They’re essentials, but when you live in such a small space, it’s a little tricky to store them discretely 😅
Kyuho and I have the same obsession/addiction.......mugs/cups/drinkware. LOL!
It’s so nice to see Sarah dressed up and Kyuho shopping 😂 I was in Seoul recently and can’t help noticing the ladies still wearing sleeves even though it was beginning to get really hot. It made me self conscious to go sleeveless 😅 is it still conservative or just to avoid uv rays?

When I first moved to Korea over 10 years ago, it was really rare to see Korean women wearing sleeveless tops or dresses. If they did wear them, they usually wear cardigan over it. Now, I notice a lottt more Korean women wearing sleeveless clothing- though it’s still not quite as common compared to what I would see in Canada. I feel sooo much cooler and comfortable going sleeveless in really hot weather-it’s a must for me 💦
Yay for storage! I love all of those bookstore/mall/cafes that you all show on here. When I see those books that are stories high above reach, I wonder what kind of systems do they have to retrieve those books? Is it a vending machine like system or more of an automated dumbwaiter? Just curious.

I (Sarah) thrift clothes all the time at Vin Prime! Since most of the clothes there come from Japan, they’re quite short on me, but I have scored some really nice quality men’s linen button-up shirts that fit me really well! Dresses and pants are a challenge though, since I’m tall 😅
Arriving Friday for 5 weeks...look out for a leprechaun 💚💚 wandering the streets....😂

my opinion, replace shelve that you now to get storage narrow cabinet (has two doors and with built in shelves), that way only one furniture in veranda - it makes more sense and look better, sorry
We wanted something more multifunctional that we can use as furniture 😁 Plus, a narrow cabinet would be too tall and would block the window view when we open our curtains from our bedroom.

Hi Kyuho and Sarah! My husband and I live in USA for many, many, many years. He is USA born and I am Korean born. My parents are living in USA for many, many, many years, but, was born in Korea. I havee been watching youir videos since you started and is caught up now. I would love to make comments from your questions that you have asked; but, there are too many to answer. I love the Korea sites that you visit. I haven't visited Korea since 1985-86 timeframe and noticed how much it has changed especially Myung Dong. Trust me, I am on your side regarding the color blind glasses and think the guy was jealous because of your popularity. I hope Beemo is doing well and I love cats; which we don't own one. I wish you have lived in USA for a year and see how much different it is compared to Korea or Russia. Of couirse in USA, there is so much places tp go because we own a car and a house. You are young right now.. I loved your traditional ceremony clothing video including your visits to Canada. We live in Ohio and is very close to Canada so we can visit when we want including driving. Also, I have lived in California for many years too. We have traveled almost all 52 states and most of the countries and love it very much. I am awaiting for your next video and hope you can every other day instead of every week. I know you have to do editing for Korean audiences and keeps you busy. There should be an app for you to do Korean interpretation from English to Korean automatically, so you don't have to continue editing. It will save you time an energy so you can use your time on something else. By the way, your Christmas videos are beautiful,; but, in USA of course, they really celebrate and decorate. I am assuming you knew that. And in USA, there are so many other holidays that isn't celebrated in Korea or Canada like Easter, Mothers and Fathers Day, 4th of July, Halloween, andThanksgiving.
Hi Sarah, in Korea, where closet space is at a premium , whst do you and Kyuho do when you run out of closet space? Do u re-sell the older pieces of clothing or donate?
We always donate the clothes that we no longer want/wear in the clothing donation bins around our neighborhood :)

Yes I have :) And Kyuho and I went to NYC in the summer back in 2018 🗽 Would love to visit Hawaii and California 🌴
