IIRC THPS3’s Xbox release had to be delayed for whatever development reason so they slapped together an Xbox port of 1 and 2 (which wouldn’t be too difficult to do since 2x is just the Dreamcast version upscaled with new mediocre levels) to hold fans over. Though if THPS3 had to be delayed for Xbox I can’t see how they got the game to work on PS2 and GameCube by release date and not the OG Xbox.
I think I read something about that last night. But yeah I agree. Not sure why the Xbox was the outlier. I'd say it could be that they couldn't get a dev kit, but they got 2x onto it so they had to test it on something.
@Paul Bell Indeed. It was due to API's. THPS2 was already coded for DX so it was easier to port where 3 was developed for the PS2 and Gamecube as a priority
I enjoy the game for its graphics, it’s backwards compatible for the 360 so it’s extra crisp. I wish they removed the manual and other features when you unlocked the THPS1 levels, or at least have an option to turn it off
I figured it was familiar music that was also so low quality that it wouldn't get a copyright strike 😂 Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it! And I'm glad you liked it.
I enjoyed this video. I've beaten 2x specifically like 6 times this year alone cuz i just love thps2 and I'd rather play it with better graphics and an xbox pro controller, but I thought this video was insightful and pretty funny. whats the song you use at 1:50?
It does have one feature I absolutely love: custom soundtracks off the hard drive. Running through the game, nah, you don’t need it. But back in the day playing a ton of multiplayer, we were very glad to have more than the same handful of songs. Anyway, just found your channel and subbed. Good stuff!
I like how you added the midi soundtracks from THUG2 on the gba but some points of the video it sounds like it overlaps your voice or is just really annoying but overall the video was very good.
Good video man Underground 1&2 was my introduction to the franchise Never played this since i never owned an xbox in my life And im planning to buy it along with this
The underground series was definitely a great place to start! I’d be interested to see what you think of the original two pro skater games since you haven’t played them before. They’re really different than the underground games.
Believe it or not the 2x version was the first version of the game that I ever owned and played through most of, so I only experienced both games with all those new mechanics and the extra levels (I heard extras weren't made by Neversoft? 🤔). Never owned a PS2, I went N64 > Xbox. I remember even back then not liking it that much, but I liked 3/4/Underground a lot and was nostalgic for them. I tried 1 & 2 years later but on the Ps1 and N64 via emulation (PSP & old Android phone) and wrote them off as too primitive and unplayable. How wrong I was. But recently I learned that DC had the best versions and gave it a go like 2 months ago, while waiting to buy the re-makes. I played it on my Note 9 and even a Chromecast with Google TV & Onn 4k TV Box, all of which can run it surprisingly well on Redream. I fell in love and am nearly 100% on both games (I have a ridiculous back catalogue). I got the remake and love having on Switch as well as Xb1, But the originals are like fine wine & more challenging/realistic. I enjoy them more than the later installments tbh. Its crazy how I can now emulate them on a $30 4k Android TV box and get a good experience, at 960p w/ v sync and all. The Spiderman game was also DC>PS1, such an underrated console for its time.
I agree with you 100% but I would say for some people that if you wanted the best version of pro skater 2X is the Xbox version cause of graphics. if you have an Xbox, ps1, ps2 or gamecube then I would recommend the Xbox one since it’s the “best” one just it’s timing was sooo off lol
Yeah it came out at such a weird time. Although if THPS3 wouldn't have had an Xbox delay, we might never have seen 2X so it might be a blessing in disguise.
Too bad we never received this in Europe. Still want to add it to my Xbox collection... Do you think it would also work on my European Xbox 360? Or should I just use my original Xbox?
I'm not terribly sure about it working on the Xbox 360 because as of last week, none of my Tony Hawk games work on my 360. I think their compatibility might have been patched out. To be safe I'd probably just use the original Xbox.
under10hours I’m happy with it, as well. Chugging through all of the challenges now. Might be doing this for awhile!! I’ll be sure to watch more of your videos, glad I found you!
Out of date? Maybe. Manuals changing the dynamics of THPS1 levels? Maybe. Is this game fun? YES! And San Francisco without manuals just lacks something for me. It's hard to go back to my Dreamcast THPS1 and play San Francisco. This was one of my first games for the Xbox, and I had a blast with it. It's still my favorite THPS game. I still have my original DVD, but I've moved on to using the CXBX Reloaded emulator to play the game these days. Pro tip: At least for the version I downloaded on April 14th of this year, the game does play with pretty much zero noticeable glitches, but you've got to go into the game's options (not the emulator options) and turn off motion blur for it to run correctly. (Yes, this was an in game option, not an option of the emulator.) You've got to go to the options and turn it off every time, but it's soooooooooooooo worth it. Career data saves no problem, too.
Maybe not N64. The workarounds to get the games to fit on carts are more noticeable than ever. It's still playable but the games on the other systems are still great, and way better.

The original Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2. I also notice you used the GBA THUG2 music. Those digitized voices.
I enjoy the game for its graphics, it’s backwards compatible for the 360 so it’s extra crisp. I wish they removed the manual and other features when you unlocked the THPS1 levels, or at least have an option to turn it off
Yeah those are all great features. I wish they would have just turned up the scores and difficulty a bit
Pretty smart using the THUG 2 GBA soundtrack. Great vid

how many times are they gonna remake this game 😂 we got 1 2 2x and now they are making another one
I have no idea 😂
Andrew Elie oh no no, we don’t talk about that one
@@wxrlord I liked it. Yeah the physics were janky but for 15€ it was good and I had fun with it.
It was ProSkater 1 & 4 for me
Crazy how Treyarch went from making ports like this to making the most iconic game mode in video game history, COD zombies

You gonna play THPS 1+2 that just came out? I actually found your channel looking for videos on it!
I have been! I played the first game's levels on stream when it came out, but haven't streamed it since. It's excellent, and I'm so happy with it!

cool vids man
Thanks a ton! Glad you like them.
The remake/remastered Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 in 2020 is way better than Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2x on Xbox. Correct me if I’m wrong.
But uhhhhh.... is this game worth holding out on the N64/PS1/DC versions of the game????? :P
Yes, actually. The DC versions are considered the best versions in some people's opinion.
Maybe not N64. The workarounds to get the games to fit on carts are more noticeable than ever. It's still playable but the games on the other systems are still great, and way better.
Actually thps3 didn't hit the n64 until 2002.
This game is really unneeded now with 1+2 being out. lol
Shut up Ernest
If only it was on ps2 as well that pissed me off it was not on playstation
