I constantly make jokes about penguins being feathered little deviants with no shame, and I could never dislike any animal because they're just doing animal things, but I severely side-eye chimps, especially when I'm around them. If any could get close to me disliking them, it would be chimps. They're a little too human for this animal industry worker.
Penguins are little evil freaks thou
They're not human, that's the problem. People need to stop humanizing them. Being extremely similar to us doesn't mean they can control themselves anywhere near the extent we can. Even the most loved and well trained dog will try to eat you if it's starving. That's why we take measures to ensure they never begin to starve around us.
So are Orcas, Dolphins, and Elephants they’re about as smart as us Humans, so when they do harm or inflict torment on us or other life forms, you can bet that the reasons are the same ones we Humans have for doing that stuff to other Humans other people or plain ole simple “I CAN’T TAKE THIS SHIT ANYMORE” situations in the case of Enslaved Orca and Elephant Persons by Sea World, Circuses, and Thomas Edisons respectively.
Also, Humanizing Penguins doesn’t work as they aren't very smart. There are, however, animals that are a peer in intelligible ability to us, but they are sadly very few but they do indeed possess Sapient Mental Characteristics.
@@InquisitorXarius grape-kun the penguin want to disagree with you
This is why i prefer bonobos the hippie chimps of the congo
Gorillas are also huge pacifists
Bonobos are also have the intercourse a lot, even as a way to say hello.
Bonobos are just a violent as chimps in some cases. They just have better PR than chimps
Chimps in the Congo....... Yeah I've got more than one video that you should check out.
Just in the UA-cam search bar type in Congolese chimpanzees.
Those Bonobos.....the "hippie chimps" you talk about. Are the most evil creatures on the planet outside humans. They literally tear each other limb from limb for no reason whatsoever on an annual basis.
To add on with the Travis story, his owner was so relaxed with everything he did including his medication.
It wasn't ever tested if Xanex helps chimps at all, but it apparently does.
HOWEVER, what she did was give him MORE than what is usually given. So instead of 1-2 pills she gave him like 3-4.
If you look up what happens when you overdose on Xanex it basically explains what happened to Travis.
i hope you wrote the same thing in the comment section of the actual video because people need to see this.
Chimps still shouldn't be kept as pets.
There is a reason most movies, they don't use adult chimps. It's why the face most people think of when they see a Chimp is actually a young chimp, not an adult chimp. Adult Chimps are ugly.... very very ugly. I was surprised the first time I saw what an adult chimp looks like. I was so used to the cute chimps you see in movies.
I recommend “ why elephant don’t think you’re cute” and “without otter the world would be on fire” these are fun and informative video that I recommend.
One other thing to mention about komodoes is they can smell you so far away they have no reason to ignore you. They can smell you miles away so unless you are the greatest marathon runner or in a vehicle you won't escape them.
they also live on an island, so you need a plane or a boat to actually escape.
@@windhelmguard5295Not even, Komodos can swim.
@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim yea but they can't survive in salt water for very long
@@windhelmguard5295 Fair enough. But they'd certainly try.
HatGuy actually has it wrong. The couple that owned Travis adopted him after their own child had grown up and moved out of the home. That child-now-adult (can't remember if son or daughter) wasn't that big in Travis' life before s/he died, I believe, in an accident. What HatGuy is probably confusing is that Jerome, the husband of Sandra and "father" to Travis, died after a long illness. The death of Jerome deeply affected Travis and there was no longer a strong male figure in the house. By the time the tragedy happened with Charla, Travis' was still upset over the loss of Jerome. The household kind of fell apart and everything changed. With each year, Sandra was less and less able to control Travis. He was overweight and much stronger than any normal human. So Sandra kept him in the house almost all the time, so he lived a pretty confined lifestyle. This was completely different from when Sandra and Jerome took Travis anywhere. So suddenly going from visiting restaurants, regular car rides, visiting all kinds of people, so playing and receiving plenty of stimulation, to suddenly being stuck at home watching tv and receiving no exercise or socialization. It had to be frustrating. Even dogs lash out in negative behaviors when confined and given no outlet for their energy and boredom, and chimps are considerably more intelligent. Then add on the fact he was becoming a teenager and hormones were kicking in. So mood swings were common and he'd displayed aggressive behaviors towards others. Another reason why Sandra kept him at home.
Sandra could really only control Travis through food and other temptations, but that was becoming more and more ineffective. Travis was starting to understand he was stronger and didn't have to listen. Food and toys weren't enough. So Sandra began giving him the Xanax in the hopes of pacifying him. However, she was overdosing him. This became the perfect storm for disaster.
Sadder yet, in the years following Jerome's death and before the tragic event, Sandra had considered and nearly took Travis to a chimp rescue. She had even arranged it and was suppose to drive him there, but changed her mind. Because _she_ needed Travis, rather than doing what was best for Travis. So all of this could have been avoided.
There is also a similar story to Travis and Charla. It happened to St. James Davis and his wife Donna. They owned a chimp named Moe, but as he was also becoming a teenager he grew more aggressive and the couple was forced to surrender him to a sanctuary. However, they were welcomed to visit him. On one visit to Moe to celebrate his birthday with a cake, they were in a separate cage with him, apart from the other chimps. However, two other chimps escaped their enclosure and made their way over to the Davis'. The 2 new chimps attacked and both St James and Donna were injured, but St. James defended his wife and thus took the worst of it, getting torn apart much like Charla Nash. He survived, too.
There's also a story about how a couple dozen chimps escaped the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Sierra Leone. Among them the hyper aggressive and 6ft tall alpha male, Bruno. They targeted some tourists, lunged their car, then attacked the people inside. One of the tourist fought back and actually sent Bruno retreating, but the chimps stalked them as the injured tourists raced to safety.
Chimps are scary.
The James Franco planet of the apes movies doesn't have a boy that goes off to college. James' father has dementia and gets into an argument with the neighbor and the ape attacks the neighbor, gets removed from the house and sent to a research laboratory with lots of other apes.
I didn't think we were going to talk about the Connecticut chimp event, but we did. There is a lot of audio that exists of the chip event, I heard it on a show a long time ago and they showed the lady with the ripped off face (he's right BTW, don't look that up)
I was today years old when I found out what a chigger was, all my life we've been calling them blood bugs.
Trigger me Elmo made Travis angry
amazing video!, one fun fact that you guys might not know, babies 4 to 6 months have enough grip strength to support their own weight and hold on for a good amount of time. this might be an ancestral feature we got from our monkey and chimp friends since the Mother of a monkey, chimp, ape or whatever monkey had to swing around trees constantly and there would always be that chance of it flying in the air and getting hurt. its very interesting!
Coincidently just read a story right before coming here, group of monkeys stole a baby out of the parents' hands and threw it off a 3rd story balcony in India. Then saw a video of a toddler being dragged away by large monkey in China, a man stopped it.
A wholesome Casual Geographic video I recommend is titled “If you haven’t smiled yet”.
A great video to prove to Nikki your not confusing movies and reality would be "Absolute Mad Lads - The Gombe Chimpanzee War" by Count Dankula.

We should remind ourselves that we aren't really that different from chimps, after all we're both primates. I'd assume that other primates are evolving towards a homo (man) like species.
I remember seeing a series on Animal Planet (or Discovery?) that used speculative evolution to see the kinds of animals that would be here after millions of years. It was called "The Future is Wild" I think. Squid/octopus eventually moved onto land and filled the roles of primates.
I love the new intro :)
I remember seeing those red mites pretty frequently in Florida, glad I never got bit
Look up the story of the guy in New York who had a tiger 🐅 in his apartment and his roommates didn’t even know

I fear chimpanzees to my core, Idk if females are as aggressive as males
But either or humanity and chimpz don't mix, especially if you try to keep them as pets
It's an animal but kind of smart, but with the emotional control of a toddler one second you're fine the next you're not
With enough strength to tear people apart with extreme prejudice
