This was always the poor man's AstroBlaster but I loved the sound on it. I used to play a glitchy one that would give out free credits. I think that one was full size with the buttons...
That's a fantastic little cab! I've never encountered a Supermini before - what a great design, can you share a few of the dimensions? How tall is it? Looks like it's a standard width ~24", I'm guessing it's about 40" tall or so? I'd love to try my hand at replicating that cab design, it has great lines!
I know this is an old video, but I just picked up a mini cabinet today and it turns out it happens to be one of these! :D Its using a donkey kong game it seems, and its not working right now but I can hear the crt getting power
hi i love your vids very informative and funny lol. just have a question ive got a mame set up and on mame astro fighter has a blue background where as this cab has a black background think the game looks way cooler in black but cant find a different rom any where. p.s love to own a dedicated cab one day shame i live in england lol
I am sure there may have been different ROM versions out there, but never made anote of them. I DO know all the Astro Fighters I have had have this same screen.
hi cheers for response just had another look on mame and found super astro fighter which is black !! its a deco tape version and now im happy happy gaming
MrRatbasher Yes....I remember the Decoi well, but never saw a Astro Fighter Deco...at least here in America. Only a few of those tapes were offered here. I remember Astro Fantasy...saw one of those. Not 100% sure that was the title either.
Hey I just found this video. I have a Astro Fighter Super Mini cab similar to the one show in this video. The flyback on the monitor is shot and I was wondering if you have a compatible replacement that I could purchase from you to repair the chassis. Also, I was hoping that you might be able to confirm the voltage and amperage of the fuse on the monitor chassis as the silk screen on the board has faded over time. Finally, would you be able to provide me with a complete cap kit for the chassis. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide. As an aside, my super mini came with an additional stand built and installed onto the bottom of the cabinet to raise it an additional 12" off the floor. I can send you photos and will probably copy this message into an email as I am not sure how frequently you answer youtube questions. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
i have a really old cocktail table of that game it has joysticks and little square buttons it says space fighter on the button panels but the wiring is a bit of a mess ive been trying to fix it but the wiring dosn't seem to be the same as the sega gremlin it's got a deco page under the lid it says mark 2 at the top of the page and deco at the bottom it's got dip switch settings and the layout of everything in there but it's not much help cause its all in another language anyone know where i can find the data east/deco owners manual or shop manual
Yes! This is part of the "Moppet" series...another company which made we think six of a smaller sized cabinet for kids. I have several of them and will feature them soon!
Those pure analogue sound effects are really unique. This is what makes all the early arcade video games so special. No generic AY or FM based crap.
I played that game when I was 12. Never seen the mini version! Awesome Job refurbishing it!
Love these rare cabinets, you're educating us all!
It's always good to learn something new!
Glad you are enjoying them!
THATS A GREAT SUPER MINI, I NEVER SEEN THESE BEFORE. YOUR SOUND EFFECTS WITH THE CRACKING BACK IS SO FUNNY! GREAT VIDEO TODD!
Joystick Evolution 1 These are super rare it seems! I love doing the Stooges sound effects!!

pigknickers Remember, that this game came out a year BEFORE the wonderful Astro Blaster!
Sure, but what a difference a year makes in the 'golden age'! :)

Where did you find a new flyback for the monitor?
There's a timeline one for sale in the local ads. Would it be a kit?
uniroyalbarrie I do not think it was a kit.

All shooters should have precise rotary controls. A mod would be awesome.
I will write a letter to the remaining game builders!
