De Vida Iyalorisa Ọyafúnkẹ́ I believe she came across as bitter and cold long before she buried her child. Just the way she comes across, not saying it's the case. Maybe that's why she didn't become commercially successful, people didn't take to her. Whereas Whitney had a softer, more endearing demeanour.
JDhappy81, Hi there. You know, your point is well made and likely very valid. Great observation, actually. Disappointment effects people differently. Some of use it as fuel for traveling to a better and more productive place. (While) others use disappointment as a rest stop and meeting place for pain. Whatever it is with Ms. Cissy Houston, I am certain suffering has taken its toll. Maybe now she may enter peace via her acceptance that she did the best she could with what she had for her beloved daughter and granddaughter. It's all very sad. Thank you for replying. Blessing to you. Peace to everyone here. Whitney Houston appeared to be so much more than her struggles with addiction. Rest in Perfect Pitch, Whitney Houston. We miss your gifts and talents. 🙏🏽🌬💞✨
Joe I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I understand people wanting to give their version of events if facts are incorrect. That makes sense. But to be honest the only things the press ever said about Whitney were that she took drugs, her husband cheated, their marriage was in trouble. All of these things were true, so I don't see where they lied about her. Cissy writing the book confirmed all this and more, which I felt dragged her (Whitney) further through the mud. Whitney would not have wanted a lot of the details about her personal life exposed by someone so close, so it just sits uncomfortably with me as I do believe it was solely done for the money.
Joe Yes I have to agree Pat Houston (who isn't even called Houston it's Garland) was a shady character. From the start she was never qualified to be Whitney's manager. Whitney was most certainly not in any fit shape physically, vocally and mentally to go out on a world tour, Pat advised her to do this again, I assume for money. However that tour ruined her reputation as one of the best live vocal singers and I believe led to her ultimate downfall. I think she showcased to the world just how much she lost the voice and it will have devastated her. She should have just done studio work or retired. For Pat to go on to record on our own so soon afterwards was a disgrace and the show was just appaling.
Joe Yes absolutely. Whitney really had the wrong in-laws around her and unfortunately from both sides, Houston's and the Browns. They all exploited her.
Catrinia Smith Hmm wow, she left her children with different family members, Whitney being gay was demonic because her religious family couldn’t accept it, she was molested as a child, both mother and father cheated, mother even with a pastor. Man o man, she did great. People who take drugs have deep childhood wounds, not all was sunny there.
SoooGood1975 What about 15 year old children who use drugs like Whitney did? Cissy, as a parent, should have put her foot down and sent Whitney to rehab before she was an adult!
@@4my2boys2 i have to put most of the blame on john. He was the parent who was home most of the time and shouldve been raising the kids correctly, since cissy was always away touring to support the household. I dont think its fair to put all of the blame on cissy
Whitney lives on through her music. She still inspires and touches a whole new generation. No matter what happened Cissy lost her baby and only she lives with that pain every day.
After kids grow up into adults...parents can’t tell them what to do.... they’re gonna do what they want. Whitney was vulnerable and just wasn’t strong enough...period.
The book was to soon as well as that reality show..Pat Houston was behind that reality show and Cissy Houston agreed to it....not caring anything about her daughter and how she felt, they should have all been in the grieving process instead of trying to make financial gain off of Whitney's death. You have to call a spade for a spade and that's what it was...
In my opinion they had the right to do a reality show if they wanted to and her mom had a right to write a book if that's what helping them get through there grieving process then so be it and Whitney in my opinion would've mined one bit. I don't believe they were trying to make money off her I do believe they trying to get through it all. As for Bobbie Kristen not happy about her grandma writing the book she should've realize that she didn't have a say because that's your mother's mother that knows more about her then she did and Bobbi Kirsten needed to respect her grandma like it or not.
I like Cissy Houston and I read her book. A mother’s love. It’s a respect thing of that generation. I honour that. Bless you Cissy. RIP Whitney and Krissi
From one grieving mother to the next… I feel for Miss Cissy’s!! She lost her child. Now she’s just left with a collage of memories, both good and bad. I pray she find some peace, knowing that she did her job, and that she gave birth to the world’s best singer! A legend and an Angel all in one package! Sending her warm hugs 🤗🌺❤️💕
I think she handled this interview with a lot of class. She was asked some very difficult questions about some very raw content in front of a live studio audience on national television. She could have erupted and said anything. And you know what? I’d have still commended her for attempting an interview. The thing is, we expect to bury our parents one day, but parents never expect to bury their children. So the fact that she was able to hold herself together so well for this interview, after only a year, is quite remarkable to me. Unless you’ve been dealt that hand, you can’t say much about it. I don’t want to join that club and I pray I never have to. I believe she wrote that book to defend her daughter against all the garbage circulating through the media. It was the only way she could ensure that her words would be repeated the exact way she intended for them to be and this avenue (a book) allowed her to cover any/all topics with as much depth as she wanted, while giving her time to think of how she wanted to word it in order to keep it as tasteful as she could. I haven’t read it, but come on, given the subjects that followed Whitney throughout her life (even after her death) that’s a pretty large task to take on. I commend Cissy for her strength in attempting to do so. Her granddaughter didn’t like it, but she was also a grieving young person. We don’t always see things so clearly through our own pain, especially at that age. Also, some times as children, we feel we can lay more claim to our parents than the other loved ones can (i.e. “MY mother”). I’m sure Bobbi Kristina wasn’t in a clear mindset during her grieving to think about Cissy carrying Whitney in her womb, singing to her, cradling her, protecting her, nurturing her, praying for her, teaching her to walk, waiting to hear her say “mama”, helping with her homework, giving all that motherly advice ...Bobbi Kristina wouldn’t have completely understood all the love, hopes, dreams and fears that a mother carries with her while raising a child. If she did, I don’t think she would have been so upset with her grandmother. She (Bobbi Kristina) was in mourning and reacted. She was a little girl who just lost her mommy. At the same time, this much older woman is grieving the same person, but in a very different way... Cissy was a mommy grieving the loss of her baby girl. Such different memories, such different heartaches. Both grieving the same person in such a substantially different way. A mothers love and attention is selfless; always giving. Whereas a child’s existence is more of the taking nature until the child gets to be much older. It’s just the way we were designed. Truly it was heartbreaking for both sides. They were both robbed of a beautiful person.
Drugs is the 80’s was everywhere. I don’t smoke or do drugs but I tried them in the 80’s ( peer pressure) and I was raised in a loving and stable home. But I never liked it or got hooked on them. So when you’re rich and under so much pressure I can see how they got hooked.
Cissy is real. God bless you Cissy and Thank You for giving us...the one and only Miss Whitney Houston❤️ You sound like a wonderful Mother. You did a great job....And No matter what...Whitney was the Original. She started it all. She will never be forgotten. She is the most amazing singer of all time. Nobody could do it like Whitney. And many copied her style and tried. She will reign as the Queen of Pop forever...Love you Whitney❤️❤️❤️
The family tried to help Kristina but Kristina was spoiled. Cissy was right when she said Kristina needed therapy. Sad, that Whitney and Kristina are gone too soon but Cissy was not in denial about her children or grand daughter.
Great interview Mrs Cissy Houston! I love this strong lady. I wish Cissy would handle all interviews and media related to Whitney instead of Pat Houston. God bless Cissy. I certainly feel for her.
I like Pat Houston. I like Cissy. But Pat was her best friend for many years and Cissy is right when she says children don't come around their parents when they're doing the wrong thing. So as an adult, Pat probably knew her better.
something about her writing that book and doing this interview so soon after her passing just doesn’t sit right with me. they were right to ask why and her answer only made me more uncomfortable..
Damn I wish she never ever tried drugs because she was an legend and she could of been alive with her mother I still cannot get over this seeing this on the news her death...she was and still is an amazing beautiful woman 💗😇 Keep on flying high Whitney because you and your whole family is outstandingly amazing and talented
Drugs didn’t kill her someone killed her she been doing drugs for years she just got caught up in the drugs and once you get caught up there hard to get off.
EVERYONE knows what his children said about Joe Jackson. His children, who hated and feared him their entire lives. And it's all in print because they gave interviews.
miss T She was a lousy mother. Period. Whitney could never develop properly as a human. She was only good when she was a perfect singer, perfect straight christian and financing her family. She behaved like a child and was so exploited because she was never raised properly and loved unconditionally by her parents. Mother is a better version of psycho Joe Jackson.
Cissy, Whitney Houston's mother, displayed remarkable strength and approachability during this 2013 interview, just a year after her daughter's tragic death. Despite the immense loss, Cissy exuded relatability and ease, making her a compelling figure to engage with. Her demeanor, though grounded, resonated with many, showcasing a blend of resilience and humility that was both admirable and comforting.
You will never get over, losing a child. Through it all, she showed us. Courage and strength, at the New Hope Baptist Church. I believe her faith in God, was what kept her strong. Through the death of her daughter and her granddaughter. Watching her from a distance and seeing the strength she showed us. It has helped me to, pull through some recent death in my family. I at admire her and have the up most repect for her strength. When you leave this world, unless it's an investigation upon the death. Me myself, I like to remember a person. About their beautiful and how they made me laugh. Let's remember with Whitney, not for her down falls. The beautiful singing, she shared with us.🙏🙋💕💝💕💝

I feel like she was only strict with Whitney but not Michael and Gary. That’s probably why she always wanted approval from her mother and always talked about making her mother proud. Her brothers might’ve been confident to give their little sister drugs because they knew there wouldn’t be any repercussions to be received from their mother. She talks about how she raised a superstar but doesn’t want to acknowledge how she failed Whitney as a child. She knew Whitney’s brothers were bad influences on her daughter but she didn’t address it. Everyone failed Whitney.
People need to stop saying it's God's work when someone dies. He said life and death are in the power of YOUR tongue. Choose life so that you may live. Of course God already knows your heart so He knows what you will choose. As for me with long life He shall satisfy me. I choose life. It's up to you. What will you choose? You can't serve 2 masters.

Cissy did everything in her power to keep Whitney safe. I remembered when she called in on the radio stations to ask everyone to pray for Whitney because she was battling with her addition. And we had corporate prayer for Whitney. Everyone in the New York and New Jersey should remember I believe it was on WBLS
Whitney never had a chance with these greedy grifters in her family. Cissy's 'I made her' comment was one of the cruelest things a mother could say to her daughter. Cissy is pure evil!

Your job doesn’t stop when you are a parent. Never. Once is unfortunate twice unacceptable three times someone needs to be having a different conversation. Whitney was a lost soul looking for love in all the wrong places.
No it doesn't stop but when she said that she did her job she meant as far As raising them to be successful and productive adults and that's what they ended up being. I also would like to say, she made her own choses and she like who she like and it was bobby. Not Eddie Murphy at the time. And people we forget she was a young girl when they dated and got married. Not this mature gown wearing women the Clive Davis created. She may have been booed but she paved away for for the Rhihanna to sing what ever style of music they wanted to sing. Listen to the music today everyone is singing all styles of music. She will be forever loved for her contribution to music. Not just her personal life. She was bigger than that.

It's true but when Robyn went to tell her about Whitney's drugs addiction before she became famous, why she and John Houston decided to ignore her??? It was the right time to send her in rehab!
NightSky its irritating and annoying to see all these comments about her mother she did nothing why would she kill her daughter her daughter got addicted and it was too late for her to turn back.. it was the end of the road for her
With all due respect I disagree with momma Houston and Whoopi about mom knowing Whitney longer. That doesn't mean that she knew the 'true' Whitney as she'd stated herself she didn't see much of Whitney only phone conversations where as Whitney shared her real side with Chrissy and Chrissy saw allot that mom Houston didn't see because Whitney didn't want to disappoint Cissy.
Straight up, Cissy saw everybody else cashing in and decided she wanted her piece of the action. Whitney was the family's cash cow but Cissy called the shots as she didn't want the money to stop flowing.
Mary Clinton-Eiland that’s NOT TRUE. She knew Whitney and Robyn was smoking pot and doing coke when Whitney was 17yrs and Robyn was 19yrs. Because Robyn’s mother called Cissy and told her what the both of them were doing. Whitney was given drugs from her own brother at the age of 14yrs old and the same brother that gave Whitney’s drugs his friend gave Robyn coke for the very 1st time.
On this matter, I think Whitney's daughter was right. It's macabre to be going on talk shows promoting a book within a year after Whitney's tragic death.
@sharon curry once someone dies all you can do is keep going it does not mean your not mourning in the process. Keeping busy for some helps them not dwell on things they can not change and their is no right or wrong time for that. Most people do not want a love one to mope in the pain in the early stages of a lost love one's death because it might be harder to come out of it because the pain is so fresh and powerful.
@sharon curry They made her do that shit. She was a kid needed her family. Mother gone all along. What was she going to do but what they wanted her to do.🤔
But how do you know the process of writing the book about her daughter wasn't therapeutic for her while she grieved? Watching the whole world talk and have an opinion about your child does not seem like any easy situation to restrain from. This is not her friend, husband, boyfriend, cousin, sibling, but her child, that SHE gave birth to. The fact that people still perceive her as being in the wrong is nonsensical. And since then, no one's heard from her. And still the world talks and milks her daughter's name any moment they get. She'll have to live with that reality for the rest of her life.
If you weren't so homophobe and cared more about what your church would say, whitney would still be alive. Robyn at the end of the day was the only one taking care of her, the rest of you just wanted the money coming in, you all lived your lives through Whitney`s success, they still do. I suppose at the end, no matter how much you loved her, it was painfull somehow to see your daughter have the career you never had and then some more, becoming the greatest singer ever!
Well said. Robyn was the only one who truly loved her. Her family was in for the cash, and I believe some family members have something to do with her death too.
Mary Sanchez you have to understand the culture. Cissy was of the generation who were taught to be strong not emotional ( if she cried or let out her feelings, she most likely did it alone in her room or with someone real close to her) So many black mothers have had to burry their children and still find the strength to keep on going. So most likely that is what you are seeing when she seems. Emotionless or cold..
A parent can only do so much. When you become a young adult you know right from wrong. Whitney and her brothers were exposed to drugs in the 80's when it was acceptable to aloft of people and n the industry. Some people get more addicted than others. Also when you have fame clout and $$$. People just give it to you when you're famous and in the circle. A lot of artist were doing cocaine but we knew Whitney. We didn't know the others. If we had the responsibility she had a lot of us wouldn't be able to deal with what she dealt with. PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA OF THE WORK AND WHAT IT TAKES TO STAY IN THAT BUSINESS. RIP NIPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mark Jackson It takes a strong will to RESIST the temptations of Hollywood. Unfortunately, those in Hollywood, who believe this, are weak-minded. If it were me, I'd never give in. I understand drugs are bad; my health and well-being will always precede money.
Robert Smith I'm not knocking your statement.but that is a very bold statement that you made that you would never because never say, never you never know the outcome of your life just because you think you do and say you would never
It is said Whitney was also abused as a young girl. This also may have contributed to her turning to drugs. Also everything is a choice . Whitney made her choices, dont blame the industry.
Because Cissy got busted cheating with their pastor. Wrecked the whole family! She needs to be truthful regarding her MAJOR part in the destruction of her kids. She left them to pursue her own singing career and Whitney was molested by a female cousin. She wants to deny these things but her own family is speaking out.
Whitney shared her gift with the world. The world treated her horribly in return. Yes a lot of people loved her and cherished her ..but majority was hurtful and cruel. Such a shame.
Unfortunately cissy may well have not been around enough for her you children ...they were vulnerable and not grounded enough to stay away from drugs....it takes away ur soul and reconstructs your mind towards negativity and evil...only bad things come from hard drugs...they let Whitney loose controle over time so that they could take over what she left behind......see all the franchises are out ...documentary...hologram tour and much more to come.
Just a note here both of cissy’s parents die when she was 18 ...first her mum...as a young child then her father at 18....cissy did well for herself ...she probably wanted financial independence that is why she worked too much and toured.
That's very powerful aspirational Mrs Cesney Houston say Sherri ask her how do you handle it is God work there's nothing I could do about my mother used to tell me I don't want nobody cry at my funeral save your tears I see you in heaven that was a perfect exploration word it's God work his will hallelujah 👍🏿🙏🏿💯
it gave nice insight in to her family, i think her drug addiction and her brothers wasn't a result of parenting but a result of fame. Sad truth but many great stars, aspiring stars too are subjected to people continually trying to ply them with drugs and alcohol . I think whitney was too good! and struggled to deal with all that came with fame, like her mother said 'all she wanted to do was sing'. Bobby was just hurting and we know the end result! she needed help. Very sad , but thank goodness they are together again and Whitney's music will live on forever.
daniel helliwell No matter the drugs availability only the damaged stars end up being addicted and dying. All drug users have issues usually stemming from childhood. If you’re mentally healthy you don’t destroy yourself.

Mom don't, play. She is strong and tough. As a mother you raise your kids right and when they get older and on their own they make their own choses.
They were taking drugs as kids. This society is too quick revere mothers who dont deserve it.
SoooGood1975
What about 15 year old children who use drugs like Whitney did? Cissy, as a parent, should have put her foot down and sent Whitney to rehab before she was an adult!
She didnt raise them right when ALL THREE OF HER KIDS ended up addicts
@@4my2boys2 i have to put most of the blame on john. He was the parent who was home most of the time and shouldve been raising the kids correctly, since cissy was always away touring to support the household. I dont think its fair to put all of the blame on cissy
Cissy kept it real all the way through, I loved her responses!
Right 👍
In my opinion they had the right to do a reality show if they wanted to and her mom had a right to write a book if that's what helping them get through there grieving process then so be it and Whitney in my opinion would've mined one bit.
Gee, I bet you make a fortune in your line of work, Richard.🙄
I like Cissy Houston and I read her book. A mother’s love. It’s a respect thing of that generation. I honour that. Bless you Cissy. RIP Whitney and Krissi
From one grieving mother to the next… I feel for Miss Cissy’s!! She lost her child. Now she’s just left with a collage of memories, both good and bad. I pray she find some peace, knowing that she did her job, and that she gave birth to the world’s best singer! A legend and an Angel all in one package! Sending her warm hugs 🤗🌺❤️💕
Beautiful Cissy Houston!! Ms. Houston raised a beautiful daughter. You did your job Ms. Houston. And God bless you! 💔😘🙏
Such a wise, enlightened and deeply spiritual lady Sissy Houston 🙏🏼
Whitney Huston was just like her amazing mother. RIP
Annabelle shut up

She behaved like a child and was so exploited because she was never raised properly and loved unconditionally by her parents. Mother is a better version of psycho Joe Jackson.
Cissy, Whitney Houston's mother, displayed remarkable strength and approachability during this 2013 interview, just a year after her daughter's tragic death. Despite the immense loss, Cissy exuded relatability and ease, making her a compelling figure to engage with. Her demeanor, though grounded, resonated with many, showcasing a blend of resilience and humility that was both admirable and comforting.

Right Juscallme Justice, she really didn't know her daughter was on drugs like she was until later!
Well here we are one day away from being ten years later a whole decade and I admire her strength and courage
to keep up appearances...appearances are deceiving...keep smiling...just an image
On this matter, I think Whitney's daughter was right. It's macabre to be going on talk shows promoting a book within a year after Whitney's tragic death.
@sharon curry You seem like a very pleasant person ..... NOT! I feel sorry for anyone who comes across your path.

Mary Sanchez you have to understand the culture. Cissy was of the generation who were taught to be strong not emotional ( if she cried or let out her feelings, she most likely did it alone in her room or with someone real close to her) So many black mothers have had to burry their children and still find the strength to keep on going.

Something wrong ...when all 3 of your children were on hard drugs long term.
