To the people who asked why this model received a marginal rating: There was extensive intrusion of the instrument panel and the footrest, possibly due to them being pushed back by the left front wheel. This contributed to a high risk of injury on the dummy's lower legs & feet, earning it a marginal structural rating and a poor legs/feet rating, which downgraded its overall rating to marginal.
Why is it marginal? The dummy's position in relation to the door frame, steering wheel, and instrument panel after the crash test indicates that the driver's survival space was not maintained well. Intrusion of the door hinge pillar, footrest, and instrument panel contributed to a high risk of injury to the left lower leg and a moderate risk to the left foot.
Yeah, but it still looks like a car which does GOOD in this test. I.e., there is no crumpling of the structure like you see on other cars which get Marginal.
@@mussazyzzfitness309 Honestly... this is not a common crash situation and even then, the overall structure is quite safe. Maybe not against a wall, but against another car, the BMW will perform better. It's a great but and congrats for the car, that's an astonishing unit!
@@akj2387 It did well, it's just that in this situation the lower panel inside of the car seemed to have completely obliterated the dummies legs. A similar thing happened to the VW Golf in 2019, that's why they re-tested it this year.

Let’s bro the wheel smashed the legs.
How much does the thing the cars run into approximately weight?
The barrier is attached to a 320,000 pound block that we can move around on air casters.
