Shemp puts his arms up to protect himself from Christine's punishing blows and she says "Don't you dare strike me!". Hilarious. Boy, she really connected with some of those slaps. And his disheveled hair makes it funnier. Great scene.
Christine was such a lady, she couldn't hit Shemp convincingly. Shemp pleaded with her. 'Honey,' he said, "A lot of half-hearted slaps hurts more than one good one. Give it to me, Chris, and let's get it over with.' Chris got up her courage and on the next take, let Shemp have it, especially the last punch. After the take, Chris put her arms around him and apologized tearfully. 'It's alright, honey,' Shemp said painfully. 'I said you should cut loose and you did. You sure as hell did!'"
The room-service waiter is played by Johnny Kascier; he was the stooges' main stunt double (he did the split-second shot of Shemp crashing through the door here, also doubled for Shemp sliding across the floor in the hilarious Piano scene). Director Edward Bernds was a master of "light" comedy, which Jules White would NEVER have done. I'm referring to the bit with Moe kissing Larry, then blaming it on him when the incredulous waiter (Kascier) walks by. Only Ed Bernds was able to bring this sort of clever comic interplay to the Shemp films. LR
Shemp never said that he was Cousin Basil, especially he wasn't trying to pretend to be Cousin Basil in the first place. That woman just immediately mistaken Shemp for Cousin Basil and immediately start accusing him for impersonating Cousin Basil after the real Cousin Basil phoned up.
Samuel Horwitz(30) married Gertrude Frank(25) on September 4,1925. He died of a Heart Attack on November 22,1955. Gertrude died at the age of 82 in 1982. They’re son Morton Frank Howard, died of cancer in 1972.

"Taking advantage of a poor, weak, helpless woman." Love how Christine clobbers Shemp.

I would have taken Christine's best shot if I could have had a minute of the Cousin Basil action.
Thank you for copying and pasting off the Christina McIntyre Wikipedia page.
Shemp ended up in the hospital
This scene was so funny. Great actors!
"My little ol' dreamboat!"
"Your little dreamboat has sailed. (makes horn-blowing sound)"
If only Christine didn't get that phone call from the real cousin Basil, I think Shemp could have pulled it off.
He tried to tell her, she was too ditzy to listen.
One of the funniest Stooges skits of all time. Christine is marvelous.
Shemp: Can I help if I ain't cousin Basil? (Then collapses)
😹😹
Poor Shemp.
Nice to see Christine McIntyre in color.:-)
She is very beautiful, I love her.
Moe: "Ya gonna sail away from 6 million bucks?!" 👏🏻

Misunderstandings, deep emotions, pleasure, and peril.
Totally unlike real relationships, of course.
