Watercolor Painting and Talking About LIFE - No.6

  • Relax as I create my 6th watercolor painting since taking up this relaxing hobby. I never thought I'd pick up a brush and watercolor paints at my age, but indeed I have, and glad I did. I hope you find it relaxing and perhaps you'll even be motivated to give it try.
My videos are best enjoyed using headphones or earbuds.
This video was produced with relaxation in mind and hopefully has some ASMR qualities. Too much stress is harmful to your well-being and in today’s fast-paced world, stress management is more important than ever, and so I hope this ASMR video acts as a stress reliever for those watching and a sleep-aid for anyone having a difficult time falling asleep.
If you enjoy my videos and feel like you get something of value from them, you might consider becoming an official “patron” of my channel over at my Patreon page. Your patronage helps to propel this channel forward. Check it out at the link below:

Hi friend, hope things have taken a good turn for you since that time ♥️ I’m going through a very rough spot with depression and anxiety on top of a multitude of familial issues, so I can certainly sympathize. Hope you’re well and even if you’re not, just remember it’ll pass soon enough. I’m order to feel you’re at your worst, you had to have felt something incredible beforehand. It’s the only way you’d even begin to know how to compare the two to be able to tell how bad a place you’re in. There’s always a brighter side waiting on us ♥️

To mix paint without contaminating your sources, try using a putty knife or plastic spatula and clean between colors. Just cut, scoop and dab into your mixing area. It's a lot easier to clean a rigid, simple tool than a brush - just wipe it, usually just once does the trick.

I love the fact that there's a few birds in the background, just adds to the relaxing and calm atmosphere for me.
I live close to a bunch of trees and we get loads of turtle neck doves, owles and the occasional woodpecker in our back garden. The bird sounds in this video reminds me of slow summer holidays where we would all sit outside and just chill while listening to nature doing its thing.

honestly your videos just help me function normally... i know that sounds dramatic but getting enough sleep is very very very important for me. I'm bipolar and the quickest way to start a swing for me is by not getting proper sleep. but life is just the way it is and sometimes I have to wake up at times that are difficult for me... when that happens I put on one of your videos. it is like magic for me. i can be wide awake and out like a light in 30 min... doesn't matter if I've seen it before or not. your videos are a very important part of my life. no one else has that affect on me, i think you are just a comforting person and you help me relax and let go when i really need it. i always love seeing a new vid but i find comfort in the rewatches too. thank you for helping me so much. you help me in so many ways, I can keep my job because i don't oversleep and I am more stable. I have been watching for over 5 years. I dont know anything about your personal life but I always wish the best for you and your family. I am eternally grateful thank you again.

I believe when you chase some sort of objective and tell yourself “I’ll be happy once I get this or once I have this or do this” you’ll find that once you get that thing you’re no different than before. I believe the path to happiness is within, not some external point to run to, so look within and find a perspective that allows you to be happy in the present. And I think we should spend most our time in the present because happiness is maximized when you’re lost in the moment and not thinking of something else while you’re doing whatever it is that is bringing you happiness. I find meditation helps practice being present and being in your body more than your mind. I also find that while meditating the mind is put at ease, making it easier to find a healthy perspective on things. Peace and love mis amigos eternos :)

If you hit that mixing area surface with a scrubbing from one of those "magic eraser" type of durafoam sponges, you'll find your watercolors will tend to bead up a lot less when you're mixing.

Bob Ross was the man at mixing his own colors right there on the pallet at random. Then when it seemed like he had chosen a good solid color, he picked a little bit of this and that to mix together. Before you know it, his custom color for trees, barns and mountains were made up of 3-4 colors mixed together. Don't forget the titanium huh-white.

I don't know you but proud of you for entertaining the thought. I did a google search using the phrase "how to tell your parents that you want to join the military" and it pulled up tons of information. Maybe you'll find some useful information. Even if you have not made up your mind yet, there might be some value in feeling your parents out on the subject before reaching a decision unless you already know that they would discourage you. Sleep on it some more, and do what's best for you, unless there is a very compelling reason to set aside your wishes.

Thank you Mr. Relaxing ASMR. Your life lessons are invaluable. I am struggling at the moment and this came at such a great time. I have not spoken to my family for nearly two years as they are so toxic (as am I) and I don't know what to do about this. Do you have any advice for how to accept our families and find a way to have them in our lives when they are a toxic mess of mental health problems and arguments? I know you are not a therapist, and I am working with my therapist on this but your life lessons I think would apply to my situation. I think anyway. Great painting btw. I think it looked great!

25:17 - "Now you might be thinking that your life is just one problem after another. Well of course it is. That IS life."
Do you have any advice in how to communicate this effectively? My family is in a lot of pain because so many are just completely averse to this fundamental truth and now some things are happening that make it unavoidable and yet they still resist it, which only makes a bad situation worse.
And I promise I'm not arbitrating, there are increasing moments of crises where help is being begged for. Hours of tears and rage in these explosive moments. I don't feel as though the way I am trying to express this sentiment is working and yet I feel I have a responsibility to try in these moments.
I have worked very hard in my own life to develop a healthy sense of self development. But it has become really painful to associate seeing my family with being knocked off my own track out of love for them. Even in simple and practical ways like the amount of sleep I lose in these interactions. The following day and week after these explosions I am exhausted and far less productive. I don't want to abandon my family, I want to be there for them, but I see no improvement coming from THEIR end. Am I even helping? I don't know. I want to be able to be there in ways that are at least helpful for them but I'm also starting to wonder what the proper boundaries are for MYSELF.
I'm trying to accept the situation as it is. To surrender to it. But I am having a hard time letting go of how ineffective I feel in trying to do that.

Though you don't actually go into any detail concerning their situation, I can hear the seriousness in your words. It's hard to watch loved ones grappling with issues that life has a habit of throwing at us, especially when we have plans of our own and energy spent elsewhere is sapping us. You don't say if their issues are temporary or long term but I do feel for you as you are trying to figure out what, if anything you can do for them. I understand you are limited when it comes to changing someone's mindset when it comes to life and what it means, but a starting point might be as simple as a good book written for people in crisis. Therapy can work wonders too but based on some of your wording, more may be required. I'm sorry I can't offer anything more, but without knowing more, I can only suggest that you be helpful in ways that are positive for them, and, healthy for you. Try not to worry and have patience with them and exhibit a stoic demeanor and free ear to listen, and the willingness to excuse yourself from the environment if hostility is directed toward you. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

@@RelaxingASMR Thank you so much for this response. I have recommended therapy to everyone and offered to go too.
The thing is, I feel healthier in my own life (internal and external) than I think I have ever been. I feel a sense of responsibility to use this to help in any way possible.
I don't want to get into specifics publicly and totally understand why you can't give specific advice as a result. I'd love to chat with you some time but don't want you to feel any sense of obligation (I'm sure you wouldn't as you must have agood sense of personal boundaries). I doubt you do, but since you play games, do you ever use discord?
Regardless of any response to this comment, thank you. In listening to this video I felt like you were speaking directly to me and it really helps. It is a longterm issue, it will never go away. It's heartwrenchgly difficult for a lot of reasons, but I really think it's a good thing all things considered. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic. Maybe it's because I'm not the one who is directly going through it. I feel I"m rambling now. Thank you again Mr. ASMR. And thank you for all of your videos. I was a Patron for a while, I had to stop but I hope I can become one again soon just to be able to feel I am actively supporting the good creations I am able to consume.

Thanks Mary. The paper I have on hand just won't stay flat.
On another note; I clicked on your avatar thinking that maybe you had an art channel and indeed you do! It's art all right, though of a different flavor. Your tone is different and your pitch is perfect. Good stuff.

@@RelaxingASMR Thank you very much! Means alot coming from the man with the golden vocal chords!
I actually am a 3rd generation watercolor color artist, sometimes I mix mediums too. Still getting used to calling myself that.
As far as paper goes Amazon has some pretty affordable 300lbs weight water color paper. It can take on a lot more water.
Some folks use electrical tape on the corners to keep it down if they dont want to turn the paper as they paint. Clipboards are nice too. My whole family loves your channel, the boys love your car collection!! Thanks for doing what you do!!✌❤🌈🎶
