I’m an hvac guy although lizard skin is definitely a cleaner finished look I prefer a mastic sealer that we use on ac duct work that you can just brush on or use a roller. It’s thicker and a great thermal barrier and a lot cheaper. I use #9 which paints on nicely and comes in 2.5 gallon buckets.

Would this give the same water sealing benefits as Lizard Skin? I like the idea of being able to just roll it on, and since it's going to be hidden behind the inner skin I don't care about the finished look.

Good information! Being that I live full time in a Airstream, if I knew about the product at the time I would have definitely spend the cash!

6:30 You should be a lot more careful about sticking your hand in front of that nozzle. Injection injuries are pretty gruesome, and it's likely you'll end up getting your hand amputated to try and get that shit out of your body.

I know you said it also acts as a sealant. Did you check all the rivets and seams and seal those traditionally before you sprayed? What are your thoughts?

I may not have mentioned it in this video but yes, we did all rivet and body repair first. All seams that need polyurethane are sealed before hand and the lizard skin applied over the top.

Hi Ian! Great video on the insulation that was very interesting. How do Airstreams cope with a Dutch Oven setup? Do you need extra extractor fans or do you just have to open the windows a bit wider?

Set a late to the party here, but when I looked at the reviews and instructions talks about 40 mill, did you have a mill gauge or did you go with just eyeballing it?

Would it work on the top outside? I see newer Airstreams with white tops.

The Lizard Skin is not recommended for roll on application. You could attempt to spray it but it would probably not go well. We have used Buskote and Dicor Cool Roof. Both are great.

Put lizard skin on Mini Mo, it will spend most of its life in Palm Springs.

Why couldn’t u just use layers of paint or latex instead of lizard skin, it’s cheaper and it provides some kind of thermal barrier no?
