That is a better part than it was new. Thank you for saving that foot instead of taking the easy road and buying new. This is the mindset that our Dads and Grandpas had. This is the elbow grease that made America great. This repair also made a great video for all of us to enjoy. Counting the welding rods, grinding wheel, gas for the torches and welder I would estimate you spent around $15. You saved a great deal of money and produced a tip top video. 2 birds with one stone my friend. I wish I could hit the like button twice. You tube needs to put in a 3rd selection where you can love the video! A good weld repair video is like holding a baby, it just makes you happy inside.
Digginok well considering the price I am not going to complain. I was rambling through the comments section and wanted to throw my 2 cents in on the 6010/6011 root pass. I know that I am old fashioned I admit that I learned the old fashioned way. I am holding to my convictions that on mild steel the way you are teaching is the best. I enjoy every time you do that just because all the new day critics that say it is wrong. That foot will take a beating and it will hold end of story! The core wire in a 6010 and 7018 are the same metal. The 7018 hot pass that you put right over the top will anneal the root pass and it will be at 70K psi tensile also. The men who taught us to do this were setting us up to be successful. I believe in the men I learned from. Thanks for honoring the past and your teachers, they taught you well.
Digginok I don't blame you a bit, no reason to reinvent the wheel. Stick with it on stick welding that is a great little pun. Are you now going to add some comedy? With running the business, welding, wrenching, you tube and playing in the dirt you are already busy but if you add comedy it could never hurt. Thanks for making me smile.
Great job! Yeah those pads are high! You obviously have the know how and talent to fix them, great looking welds too! Keep you the good work and thanks for sharing
Yeah, in a repair like this or really most repairs where you can, add more metal in there with the weld to help prevent the failure from happening again. Metal breaks from bending or shear and a little extra in the weld always helps. You did it right.
So, this is the first I've heard of using 6011 for a root pass and topping it off with 7018. I read through the comments and it sounds pretty legitimate. I'll have to keep that trick in my back pocket for next time! I'll probably be doing some welding on my loader when I take it off one tractor to put on another sometime soon, so it might be a good chance to try it out. Great stuff as always! Thanks for the video!
It sure is a pleasure to watch you work my Friend and not to be a smarty Britches or nuttin mind ya I could see the bend in that peace b4 ya noticed it bud but Reckon that just comes from the gift of seeing grade lol real fine vid Frank! Sheel be ready for another couple thousand hrs now buddy!
Man what a good video , !! Well don Frank again , the welds , video , the way to approch things very smooth etc We are learning along , when i hear the sa200 , man it turns me On !!! What a nice machine ( welder ) You are very skill person , his there anything that you cannot do ???? Thanks Serge ( from Mtl )
Ha ha..I love the company title..Smarter Than Dirt Productions. That is so cool and funny. You do excellent work, unlike some of the amateurs on UA-cam that talk a lot, brag as if they are pros, have cheap equipment, but their work is really crappy and sloppy.
@@Digginok ..Sir, you are a lot smarter than most of these wannabee UA-camrs that have no talents or skills. I was taught out of the goodness of their hearts, two techs that showed me a few skills as they graduated from welding school.Anyway, thank you and keep up the good work.
Hey Frank how are you one of your older videos popped up on my phone it was the one where you welded the out rigger I don't if have replaced the pads since then I just wanted to let you know I replaced our pads on the New Holland I found a place on line the name of the company is Filp Pad International and they were sixty dollars a piece it's just a little information you need it if not just diss regard this comment ok keep on trucking
Digginok it is when i view a video i am the 184th to see it and the 20th like. when i go back to the video later i can see how much changed. now it is 237/29.
When you’re welding is sounds like you’re running the wrong polarity. 7018 should be DCEP (direct current electrode positive) sounds like you’re running DCEN (direct current electrode negative)
I don't know if you can but round hay balers use pretty thick rubber for their belts. If you could get a hold of one them to cut up to make pads, might be cheaper than buying the pad from the dealer?
Six hundred dollars??? Better that money in your pocket than theirs at that price. Is there a place on that loader that you haven't welded or otherwise repaired?
Yes it is possible and I have done it that way before, but I like the way the 6011 fills in to begin the weld seems to me it gives a good base plus the 7018 likes some preheat. Just the way I like to do it, It has proven to work time and time again, there are other ways to do it this is only one. Thanks for watching and the good question!!!
well I understand, if the 7018 are something hard to start, I'm welding, a 1/8 inch angles to build a beam, and in my ignorance to give it better structure began to weld them with 7018 and discovered that they are hard to start.
I have a video of welding Eric’s gate, we are using only 7018 for it. If all I have is 7018 that is all I use, same with any rod But you are right the 7018 is very hard to beat for strength and is my go to.
@@chevyford100 Before trying to strike an arc with the 7018, drag the tip across a rough surface, or tap the tip on a rough surface, like concrete, to knock some of the flux off the end of the rod. In the welding class I took several years ago, there was a chunk of concrete in each welding booth to help with starting the 7018.... Do the same thing each time you stop and have to restart a rod.
The welding experts are always lurking the keyboards on UA-cam! I doubt most of them can strike an arc with a stick machine, but oh well. Lol I stand behind the repair, after all it’s my machine. Thanks for watching
At last! A professional welder doing it right. Dressed for the job and using proper tools and setup.
Thank you sir, pleasure to watch.
Thanks!

That will never break! Stronger than it was when it was new, for sure!!!
It’s holding so far.
Great job.! Ole SA 200 welds like a dream!! Thanks for the video.

Great! I loved this fix, using proper PPE, nice beefy repair.
I had to do a similar repair on my mother in laws hoof.....could have used some of your clamps to get her to old still.

davevanden1 Good machine! 9000 hours and counting , my 3rd new holland machine , 20000 hours between the 3, I would buy another.
I have 13000 hrs on mine just doing the normal fix it things on it. great work there !!!

Looks like you push the rod rather than drag it? Is it just the way you learned or is there something a out this fix that makes it easier to push?
it depends, sometimes I find it helps with the slag.
Keep those videos coming my friend
I’ll try!

What kind of machine did u use bro?
Sa200 Lincoln black face. Thanks for watching
Seems ya never get it hot enough the first time. Lol
I'm a one hand welder also. Drives people around me nuts.
Yep! Every time. Good to be able to one hand for sure!
Great job...
Thanks
I was looking to see how many "welders" stopped to tell you to use 11018. LOL
Once almost a steel worker my butt LOL
Almost I promise!!!!
dogs are the best, i recommend a vidio of brett eldredge "love someone", it is a great vid. 184/20
I’ll check it out. Thanks Mr. Ifarmer!!!
BTW what is up with your numbers. 184/20? Asking for a friend!

Wade Wilson yeah I’ve given that some thought too, my da probably has some old ones somewhere.
Nice repair, you can't run without those feet.
Now if you had some of Jeff Anderson's pretty Cat yellow paint!
maybe he will send me some!!!
Six hundred dollars??? Better that money in your pocket than theirs at that price. Is there a place on that loader that you haven't welded or otherwise repaired?
whats with the bobcat
The bobcat belongs to a local farmer who thought I could fix it, I don't have the flow meters to test the pumps so...... ?
seen it there just wonderd
you always have to give a base with 6011 before 7018?
Is it possible to start directly with 7018?
Yes it is possible and I have done it that way before, but I like the way the 6011 fills in to begin the weld seems to me it gives a good base plus the 7018 likes some preheat. What kind of welding hood are you using?
It’s an old huntsman.
Grind you. Welding it. Back too metal.
I love the comments. Some people get so critical, but at the end of the day it’s holding together. Not building a church rite

Yes sir
Muito bom!!
