I was looking at a 215 the other day and it was a little weak for some of what I do but at a great price point. Now I found its big brother. Love your videos Bob.
I got to FCAW test the machine at SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN in Dusseldorf last year. Felt as good as my old Deltaweld 452. The ESAB guy had to kick me out of the booth, I welded 4 or 5 fillet passes, then a backed groove weld in the 3G test position. Since ESAB has a big rebate on this unit right now ($300), I'm tempted to pull the trigger. I think this unit has more to offer than the competition, at least at the price.
Great video. I kinda have my hands tied with a job and absolutely have to buy a portable mig welder that still has lots of power. This welder is insanely nice. I have no confusion if this machine is the right one.
I have had a Millermatic 211 for 6 years and it has been flawless, however, I find that I could benefit from a bigger MIG for the work I do. I have really taken a liking to the ESAB emp215ic I bought to do some mobile stuff, so I am seriously considering jumping up to the emp 285ic next. Although, I saw that the Millermatic/Multimatic 255 is out and I'm not sure if that would be better over the ESAB or just a matter of what color I like more.
great machine, i just purchased 320ic, yes for the first weld fans blow all the gas from the workpiece so i even thought i didn't open gas ))) fans really loud and powerfull, in general great machice, love it same as lincoln)
Maybe it's me and either no one else cares or everyone else knows way more than I do, but I'd like to see more explanations of why you choose the settings you do and what's their effects?
WE've done some videos in the past on how to set your machine. Unfortunately, we can't put that in every video when we set the machine or it would add too much time to each video.
hey Bob first off nice video I'm looking in getting one to weld tractor s rails trailers and repair boats and other odd jobs is the 215 what I'm looking for
GREAT VIDS, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU RIB THE CAMERA GUY :} i learned tig on aluminum first , then steel, then stick now i'm trying to learn a bit about mig, could you explain the spray part? i was told by one guy that does autobody that he uses spray because no chance of hurting electronics on car... is that true? how does the spray process work? still need a ground? not much on detail when people make vids, thank you
Killer video. Could u do some metal core. I have just stared running it at work. I’m using a 86 14 mix. I think I need a 90 10 or 92 8 mix. What are ur thoughts.
This is the first time I have heard of Constant Voltage and Constant Current. Is constant Voltage another term for DCEN and Constant Current the same as DCEP?
I have an old Linde 225 that i picked up and it is only intended for hard wire. There is no way to change the polarity to run dual shield. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to set this machine up to run both ways? I don't need to hear buy a different machine. I am lucky to have this one and buying another is probably not going to happen anytime soon. Thanks
@W. You have the option with the 285 to order it in single phase or three phase but you can't simply flip a switch on the machine to be able to use it on single or three phase. Single phase will be your best bet as 3 phase often can't be utilized. A lot of shops just don't have the availability of hooking up 3 phase and it costs quite a bit to have installed.
@W. If you already have 3 phase hookups then I would buy the 3 phase 285. 3 phase is gonna give you a nice constant power draw. No dips like single phase can happen every now and again.
@W. No especially because 3 phase isn't really mobile. I'm pretty sure even on some of the big expensive welder/ generator machines still just single phase power. There are some that will accept 3 phase but probably not worth the cost. I'm in a union and even at our union hall shop we only have one 3 phase plug. Everything else is still just single phase and it works great.
Just bought a 235 but im a noob is there any videos that show what rods use what polaraty and how to set it up? I know what dc and ac mean just get confused on dc + and dc - and how to set up ac, i have been looking everywhere but no answers can anyone help? Thanks
Diego Rodriguez Standard electrode specs are out all over. One of the best resources is ESAB filler metal download. It's free and packed with all the vitals.

There's also a 235. Thanks for the support
Mine showed up last Thursday while the ESAB rep was at our facility with his demo unit, awesome machine! Run .045 metal core on it all day today.
If you turn the non faster . It jumps bigger numbers.
Hello Bob from Canada. could you do a segment on the spoolgun that comes with the welder. Great videos by the way.

Do some dual shield flux core uphill

Thanks for another great video. Wish ESAB would offer a contest on this one.
Awesome vid brother

Nice machine. Looking forward to next weeks demo.
Put a clip and a cloth to wipe the wire as its fed through...
You can also use a piece of a washing sponge.
Had an old guy at work tell me he used to poke his wire through a cigarette filter back in the day.
Sounds like someone has been watching AvE
Quentin, nowadays... That 20 pack of filters would be in the right price range for consumables. 👍🏼 I've heard it before too.
I've always used an earplug
Awesome welding! Pleasure to watch.
I played with that at fabtech last fall for a bit, first impression was impressive machine. Keep up the good work sir!
Maybe it's me and either no one else cares or everyone else knows way more than I do, but I'd like to see more explanations of why you choose the settings you do and what's their effects?

Weld.com Got it - I'll have to go back and watch the others:). Thx.

Great unboxing video. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! @7:35 there is no splatter and so so smooth!! Is that from 98% gas? Instead of mix? That's very impressive.
YES I'm a nooby
Hey bob, ever tried the portable fronius stick/tig machine? Looks about the same size as the esab in this video.
Nice passes. Seems like a decent machine.
All the CV aspects ran very well. We're pumped to see what it does with some 6010.
ive got the esab buddy tig just a pocket size welder but boy can it burn rods...6013 and 7016....so the big rebel should impress you big
Hi Bob what would the settings be for dual shield .035 with 75/25 any info would be great thanks Mark
Can you do a review of the rebel ACDC multi machine???
Isaac Hernandez If I had one.
Bob Moffatt of anyone can get one its you sir
Esab pushed release of that unit to October....lame.
ukau just ruined my day..
Isaac Hernandez I feel the same way.... Got cash burning a hole in my pocket. ESAB keeps pushing it back....
I want one... is the one you tested 1phase or 3 phase?
Never mind I see it on the machine 1phase
Hi, just want to ask if this machine will work without gas? Like other gasless flux core welding machine.
Hi Bob I am looking to buy this machine or the emp 215 ic, does this have a spot weld timer for uniform spot welds?
thank u bob, u do a great job:)
Muy buena máquina Bob, excelente tu trabajo

not much on detail when people make vids,
thank you
Can you use the dual shield wire in spray transfer or just short arc
Why the fabric covers over the gas tanks?
Question !miller 350p vs this for the price which one would you buy?
Killer video. Could u do some metal core. I have just stared running it at work. I’m using a 86 14 mix. I think I need a 90 10 or 92 8 mix. What are ur thoughts.

Cc and cv are on mig welding machines. Dcen and dcep are arc welding polaritys.
how do you like the ESAB helmet?
thanks bob,
Manda uma dessa aqui para o Brasil de presente 😍😍 amo solda

REBEL™ EMP 285IC with MIG PULSE?
Maybe a silly question, but can you spray flux core?
Flux core is done in globular mode.
You could with dual shield, I've never seen anyone do it with self shielded wire
Is the machine demonstrated a single or three phase?
This is a single phase machine which is why its so impressive. To achieve 34 volts off of 220 power is amazing !
@W. You have the option with the 285 to order it in single phase or three phase but you can't simply flip a switch on the machine to be able to use it on single or three phase. Does this welder has Pulse MIG function ?
I like it.
hey can someone help and tell me what exactly do i need to do to run this machine at home.
What are the differences between the 285 emp and the 235 EMP?
285 will weld full range of .045 wire. 235 will weld full range of .035 wire.
Just bought a 235 but im a noob is there any videos that show what rods use what polaraty and how to set it up? I know what dc and ac mean just get confused on dc + and dc - and how to set up ac, i have been looking everywhere but no answers can anyone help? Thanks

where did you purchase the cylinder covers?
Anibal Salinas we got them from Airgas.
Weld.com looked for them on there. Could not find them.
Hi Bob I hope you well. Me name it's Mark
I am from uk London
Can you do 6g with MIG
PLEASE
Best regards
Where's Part Two ?
Good boy
It's not an "unboxing", if it's already been unboxed!
Sad that a welder that gets paid for aliving cant afford a decent rig. Guess ill keep using the company's welder.
Budget better.
@@asherdie already at full capacity on budgeting. That with no car(s) payments and such
Got the trifecikon 3 in 1 rig. Made in china is the standard now
Ok so he can weld up a 3foot gap
If anyone can it will be Bob Moffat. I'll give you a hint, he would cut a new plate to fill in the gap and weld the sides.
