Great Tip Kevin . I think so often new welders want to drive that torch into the middle of the joint like they might if they were mig welding . Problem is ,, no wire filler . The trick is just as you show it . Wack it with a quick shot , drag the pool across
Thanks for watching and posting. I know I get in a hurry sometimes and just make a mess of things. Slow down, think, plan and then turn on the machine.
In addition to these great tips I find that the secret to tacking thin sheet is to use a very shallow angle on the torch like 45 degrees it seems to be more gentle on the metal and avoid holes.
@@KevincaronSculpture I have 5052 aluminum in .050. Was “told” it might be too thin to weld if one hasn’t tried aluminum in over 30 years. Only way to know, *I guess,* is to try it.
So with tacking in general, even with regular gauge material, you just need to crank the amps up a little bit more? I've kinda been having to teach myself here, so I'm curious.
What do you think about laying a piece of filler rod across the gap to to tac 2 pieces of aluminum together to tac it for a butt weld an/or corner weld?
Boa noite. E aí quevin ta tentando me ajudar com o presidente Trump e o presidente bolsonaro? Ou não vai da para eu comprar um power mts 252 sti ac/dc tig bivolt?
Well, Trump is going to be out of a job in a few days. As to your President, sorry, can't do anything about him. If I was you I would just get online and order a machine.
I like that you mention that we (the viewers) realize that we don't need that particular welder, to get the job done.
I have a budget just like you all. These things don't grow on trees here.
Thanks this is helpful as I am new to tig I really like your videos-you simplify your instructions and have a great demeanor.
Thanks for watching!

I have found that also
Yea the same as intercooler piping I had to make seems like 100ft of lol but yep not to bad once u get goin....As always another great video
Thanks 👍
This reminds me. I have got to get busy inventing that aluminum magnet I have been thinking about. Hello, Shark Tank! (Thanks for the info, guys!)
Go for it!
What flavor/alloy? 3003 is *said* to tack w/out filler, no/little cracking.
I hope to get some soon. Been 30+ years since I last did Aluminum.
5051 if I remember correctly.

Yes, exactly. At least that is how I do it.

Works for me. Thanks for the tip!
That Everlast sure is high tech!
I really like how this machine runs!
What do you think about laying a piece of filler rod across the gap to to tac 2 pieces of aluminum together to tac it for a butt weld an/or corner weld?
Do it all the time! Go for it.
Love the content, such good explanations.
Glad you like them!
Good video Love your fancy tig machine but it wasn’t really thin alloy in my opinion
Sometimes you work with what you have on hand.
What model everlast welder do you have?
That is the MTS 275 Lightning. A real work horse of a machine!
Thanks!!
No problem!
One thing you can count on from Everlast is the garbage grinder fan noise.
I would say a good 75% of the noise is from the water cooler. Turn it off and the welder is easy to be around.
That only works for some grades of aluminium and most importantly requires perfect fit up.
and the material is very clean on both sides
"now you can come back and weld it" ...now you can come back and tack with filler, those fusion tacks will not be very strong
Often so weak it breaks when you move it.
Very true, just keeping the metal in place till I can grab a filler rod and get back to it.
Isn't that why its called a tack?
