We're really happy everyone is enjoying the Tech Talk, thanks for the feedback. You should also check out Magda's recent EB Radio Podcast for a look into a different side of her musical taste www.mixcloud.com/electronicbeats/podcast-magda/
+Telekom Electronic Beats Laurine Frost, Steevio, Ion Ludwig, Cabanne, Cab Drivers, Steve O Sullivan, Josh Brent, Margaret Dygas, Onur Ozer, Denis Kaznacheev, take your pick :D
+Telekom Electronic Beats Beau Wanzer, Prins Thomas, Josh Wink, Darshan Jesrani, Morgan Geist, Egyptian Lover, Steve Tang, Fred Umwelt, The Exaltics, Ali Renault, Radioactive Man ... I don't know the past episodes so there may be some ideas overlapped with past productions but i don't care.
i was so obsessed with this that ended up buying almost the entire Synth & drum machine collection. (Simmons included). But a few months ago sold almost everything.
Muy impresionante la labor dé Magda, eh seguido su carrera desde M_nus, hasta su último trabajó para Balance y no deja de renovarse, una maestra de verdad!
+Doug B. this seems to be a common request, hope it works out for you and the other commenter :) and i commend you being so polite just i did him as well.
Philipp seriously just sounds like an FM noise wave + a bit of reverb you could make that in operator in ableton in about 2 seconds! Down with samples!!!
I like the concept of that SSL mixer with it's alternative channel layout, but 2+k€ for a couple of channels might only be in the budget for a few. Are there mixers with similar functions (disregarding the trademark SSL sound) on the market?
I wonder when she multitrack thru the ssl, she records thru her rme's, right? How does she record thru the burl? One track by another or just the whole mixbus?
the b2 bomber is for your mixbus mostly. adds lots of silk. i havent used mine on individual tracks simply because it sounds amazing to have it layered on the whole mix
I was trying to understand what she's talking about here. What does she mean by "alternative mode"? Can anyone explain exactly how she does her recordings? Can she record things dry and through the mixer at the same time or something?
The SSL basicly has two inputs per channel which you can switch with the "alt" button. The way she has it set up I believe is she runs every machine through the desk. If she wants to record a track als she has to do is press record in ableton for that track. Afterwards push the alt switch to have the track coming from ableton into the desk instead of the machine.
I remember listening Magda music back in mid 2000', after watching this video I wanted to listen to her new stuff but I can't find anything ! Can someone helps me ?
What i always wondered, and might be a interesting thing to do for a interview is, ask them how did they found the place to build studio in. I think that's the hardest thing to find considering you need a place where you listen to music at high db. Did they build a house in a forest or find an empty garage or what? Because having a studio in a city seems like impossible thing to have. All replies are welcome :)
House in the forrest would be amazing but believe it or not most of the studios we visit are in fact in cities, some are in dedicated buildings a little out of the city centre but others are in residential apartments i.e. where they live.
André Teistura Considering that you're sitting many hours each day it is not that much anymore. I almost ruined my spine with a cheap chair. And if you find one used like I did they are pretty affordable again. I paid 300 Euro for mine...
Can you help me please, I see the Xlogic SSL on the desk of our lovely Magda, but the question - what is on the left side ? I suppose it is a chanel extension - what is the model ?
I thought I heard something between blur, blurp, and blah... but seems like you're getting it right, my friend. ;-) www.westfloridacomponents.com/T793APQ11/ADC82AG+Analog+to+Digital+A-D+Converter+IC+High+Speed+Burr+Brown.html
does anybody know how to run all those channels into the mixer and then into ableton? is the mixer an audio interface as well or there is an audio interface after the mixer that acquires all the signals?
I wish that in the future we can see more artist that doesn't use so much gear that cost ALOT of money. as most of the people cannot afford so much gear, synths and extra stuff... keep it minimal :) NONETHELESS, great videos! keep on the good work!
M. B. You can do everything on a single laptop there plenty of videos on youtube that show that. The reality is that artists that make money as producers use that money to buy gear.
I bought mine used on the Bay for around 300 Euro and picked it up locally. The chair is from Herman Miller and is called "Mirra". The dealer also had the "Aeron" chair from H. Miller which can be found in a lot of studios around the world. Tried it out too, but it wasn't nearly as comfortable. Especially if you are a taller person like me I would go with the "Mirra". Never had any pain in the back again after switching to this chair. Worth every single cent!
I'd get lost in the sound design and I'd probably overlay to many instruments. It would take me a lot more time than normal but I'm sure it would be fun.
my 2 cent but running from rme to burl make your sound do ADAD, not sure thats the optimal way to use a burl.... Maybe buy a couple of good preamps and run the mix out to burl...
Well... Magda has been in the game for a long time. Maybe a career in music helps? I am a software engineer and my studio is also impressive... so getting a job is a start
Using an iPad and audio bus could achieve the same workflow one that you could take everywhere you go using multiple tracks multiple instruments layering doing everything that you're doing is kind of crazy find a Audiobus baby and find out what it does
I watched this episode probably 20 times already! It won't be the last that's for sure!!! Magda has such a good vibe!!! :) Thank you guys!!!
I love the entire Tech Talk-series.

The DRM1 is a lovely appealing machine, I truly love her, I don't have it but 2 of my friends have it and I'm so happy everytime I use it
Love the experimentation and sounds she makes, and shes gorgeous too.

Philipp seriously just sounds like an FM noise wave + a bit of reverb you could make that in operator in ableton in about 2 seconds! Down with samples!!!
That Smile 😊
Looks the chick from Law and Order: SVU
cool
Explained very well how she is getting the sound. Really cool. With a sympathetic sense of panache.
+Thomas Ueber absolutely, she has a really solid base and you can tell it's taken her a while to get the right mix in the studio
wonderful
+Pablo Arias it was a real treat recoding this, and we're glad you enjoyed it
I like the concept of that SSL mixer with it's alternative channel layout, but 2+k€ for a couple of channels might only be in the budget for a few. Are there mixers with similar functions (disregarding the trademark SSL sound) on the market?
Omg shes so cool

I wonder when she multitrack thru the ssl, she records thru her rme's, right? How does she record thru the burl? One track by another or just the whole mixbus?

true art
If you wanna do your spine a favor: I can highly recommend her chair! ---------------> Herman Miller "Mirra"
have to agree, it was heavenly to sit in
+800 bucks for a chair? no thank you
André Teistura Considering that you're sitting many hours each day it is not that much anymore. I almost ruined my spine with a cheap chair. And if you find one used like I did they are pretty affordable again. I paid 300 Euro for mine...
800 buck for your body i think is the best investment really
Haha yeah if you're gonna spend all that money on that gear and then sit in a cheap chair you're an idiot
einfach Top😊
Impressive! Great video

where can i buy this chair :D
it was ridiculously comfortable let me tell you
I bought mine used on the Bay for around 300 Euro and picked it up locally. The chair is from Herman Miller and is called "Mirra". The dealer also had the "Aeron" chair from H. What converter did she say @7:24
Burl Converter (B2 BOMBER ADC) ;)

It's not a compressor it's an AD converter, a Burl B2 bomber
magda es una excelente productora,,,muchos deberían aprender de estos beats,,,jajaja
No tienes ni puta idea anda
it's very cool studio. I'd have to set my self some sound limits if i had all that gear.
+Robert Naik 聶 like what?
I'd get lost in the sound design and I'd probably overlay to many instruments. It would take me a lot more time than normal but I'm sure it would be fun.
what does she do today?

It's a Burl B2 Bomber Ruslan Sergeevich
I don't see a ring on that finger..... Magda will you be my wife?? Your passion for sounds has me down on one knee :)
my 2 cent but running from rme to burl make your sound do ADAD, not sure thats the optimal way to use a burl.... Maybe buy a couple of good preamps and run the mix out to burl...
want to jam.
+mookie714 it ain't too much; just jam ;)
Yum and yum!
(I'm of course referring to optimized work flow and quality gear)
These video's should start with a detailed breakdown of how exactly the individual was able to afford all this exquisite albeit expensive gear.
Well... Magda has been in the game for a long time. Maybe a career in music helps? I am a software engineer and my studio is also impressive... so getting a job is a start
Best gear --》Derek Holzer's SoundBox

+Geff Niels it's not what gear you have but how you use it :) we have seen plenty of people work out of the box on a laptop and make amazing music
Using an iPad and audio bus could achieve the same workflow one that you could take everywhere you go using multiple tracks multiple instruments layering doing everything that you're doing is kind of crazy find a Audiobus baby and find out what it does
1:27 yeah yeah, originally it was 'ten..äääh.. hours!' =D =D =D
