The better your mastery of language, the better you can understand reality. The more languages you speak the better you can understand other cultures, the better you empathize. This is for the people in the past that have said to me, "Oh Pete speaks 8 languages, so what?" The 'so what' is that it does more for you than you know. When you couple this study with his abilities in math and music, you can really start to see how his mind excels. His piano skills say to me that his hands can work independently, and so can his mind, that he can hold several dissonant or conflicting thoughts in his mind simultaneously. So, this Rhodes Scholar can speak 8 languages and play several instruments. Its a big deal. We should take advantage of this kind soul while he is willing and eager to serve.

I wanted it to be him as the democratic candidate. I would have voted for him. Unfortunately, knowing my country as I do, the fact that he’s gay would definitely be an issue for a lot of homophobic people here.
Honestly? I think, if anything, it's his age (or lack thereof). The most flack about his homosexuality came from the LGBTQ+ community itself for - I swear I'm not making this up! - "not being GAY enough" or for being the "wrong kind" of gay to represent their needs and interests adequately. Which was ludicrous and prejudicial all-time low moment for us, in my personal opinion. (Take that with a grain of salt, but as part of the LGBTQ+ community, that's what I saw.) Pete is one of the most effective communicators I've seen in my lifetime, and I genuinely TRUST him, which surprised me as much as anything else. He will have a role in the Biden Harris admin, and I can't wait to see what he can do!
I don't recall specifically wanting an individual Democratic contender in the white house but I would have really liked to see Booker or Buttigieg win. I think Buttigieg didn't get the nomination primarily because of homophobia but gatekeeping from within the LGBTQ+ community also didn't help.
@@TabethaAurochs I agree, there was a lot of negativity towards him and especially his husband from the LGBTQ+ community which i thought was really strange and stereotypical tbh. The "not being gay enough" threw me off completely

He is a man who surely could bring the people of the world together. That is exactly what we need: earthlings making a joint effort to promote a good life for all beings on this planet
I'd love to see that happen. I myself am Dutch, we only hear Americans speaking English. If someone genuinely tries to, for example, speak Dutch, it just really softens my heart and makes me want to make extra effort in return. New languages are hard - any effort you make will be noted and appreciated. So I think it might be really good for relations in the Middle-East to have someone who's got a bit of Arabic. The US has a lot of burnt bridges to mend, a guy like this would be a great start.
@@TiaMat99 I agree, and I think Biden’s going to nominate him as the UN Ambassador for the USA, which would be fantastic seeing as he can already speak so many languages. Susan Rice is a far better candidate. Buttigieg's only political experience is mayor of a town in Indiana. How much foreign policy do you think he had to deal with? Him speaking languages doesn't mean sh*t. And Wendy Sherman is a better option for UN ambassador because she, again, has actual foreign policy experience. So I started learning more expressions from Egyptian and Levantine dialects. Both dialects are commonly understood by arabs around the world and are reasonably close to the standard. My personal tip: Take a look at the different dialects, compare them to MSA and you start to see common features like sound shifts or loss of complicated grammar rules.
Beautifully said.
Brilliant! Seven languages will come in handy with international diplomacy
You say that probably you don't even understand one of them. He speaks (at best / if the lines were not practiced !!!) Spanish and French intermediate and he knows a few lines in a bunch of different other languages.
@@HamabaJuJu with practice in any one of them it'd probably come back pretty quickly. Even when you get up towards a fluent level in a language, if you stop using it for a long time you'll get rusty at verbal communication and hearing comprehension, but it all comes back with just a little practice

Apart from being intelligent, what other aspects should a candidate have to have your vote? Shouldn't policy be on top of any other?

@@yaribsuarez8725 Ideally. But you can't pass policy domestic or abroad if people reject you as a person.
@@DiCola119 I agree, but which policies does he offer? I don't see him as a people's candidate
Why the hell isn’t this guy your next president? The guy is intelligent, eloquent and even shows wisdom beyond his age. Is him being gay really such a big issue for you?
Because they fumbled the votes in the Iowa primary (which he actually won), and he didn't gain the initial momentum he needed.

That kid is amazing. Sounds like he speaks about ten languages. I sure hope he gets the nomination.
Pete is basically the Secretary of State waiting to happen. Bring him in Joe!
I’d like to move to the Netherlands someday - it seems like people there are more educated and have more common sense than the 71 million Americans that voted for Trump...
Pete should try for veterans affairs, that's the only cabinet position he should be considered for.

However, depending on the context, MSA may sound a bit too formal.
An Arab once told me that I sound like a news reporter when speaking MSA.
Then you can learn to switch or mix between Al-Fusha and Al-Lahja (dialect/common speech).
Hope this helps!
