LKY spent his whole life for the his country. These foreign journalists were for themselves.
"We fight to win"
It is sad that he talked about race and made comparison (time code:14.00) between races and singled out the Malay community and emphasised that Malay candidates were far more inferior than other candidates. LKY has successfully managed to cast racial stereotype that still lingers to this day in Singapore. After watching this interview, I no longer feel that his answers are stupendous and that people should be overly awed by the man's intellect.
RIP a great man
LKY is knowledgeable in the mass media field. Probably picked this up when he worked for the Imperial Japanese Army’s Kempeitai forces, during the war.
In the midst of financial liberalization and deregulation as advocated by neo-liberalism of late 70s and 80s, LKY remained clear headed and understood the underlying issues. He remains prudent and required banks to lower exposure to debt and potential bad debts.
Always someone I will look for inspiration from.
