Bunjie (The Original Bunjie, The O.B.) is my 2010 Excalibur Axiom that got me hooked on crossbow hunting. This was my "one gun" for more than a decade and Bunjie's reliability is the reason I ONLY hunt with a crossbow. After killing dozens of deer, hogs, squirrels, woodchucks, and even a bear, Bunjie is now semi-retired, but still gets out every year and even killed two deer 2023--and a woodchuck at 81 yards!
Bunjie, Jr., is my daughter Genevieve's crossbow, an Excalibur Micro Suppressor 355. I was late for the live chat 🤬. Great info- In my opinion from experience is that the Swhacker is the best choice for a mechanical B H
However I also love the single bevel fixed blade. Yes it takes time and effort to get them to “fly” correctly so I do not recommend them to new X-bow hunters. Besides that you should be proficient at sharpening. Get a pack of Swhackers if you’re new to the X-Bow Family,you can’t go wrong with that decision!

Lusk Archery Adventures on UA-cam does really nice broadhead tests and sold me on trying out the Sevr this fall. Going with the 2.0 in the 125 grain to replace the 100 grain Rage Hypodermic I used previously.

They let me down once. Broadhead did its job going in, but on the exit it scissored and caused a small exit wound

Missed the livestream but enjoyed the video. (as always) appreciate what you bring to the crossbow world... I think the same day your livestream occurred, was the first day of TN velvet season. Made my first shot with a Swhacker #260 hybrid. 125gn 1"fixed x 2 1/4" mechanical. He ran with a luminoc showing. "WHAT, no pass through." Piled up in 40yards. It really was a pass through, the far leg was hit at the thickest part of the bone above the joint. Broke leg and temporarily stuck. Blood trail was phenomenal though not needed, I saw him pile up/flip/flop. I suspect if I posted photos of the heart, you would get a strike but WOW. Big X cut going in heart and the blades finished opening inside slicing just as wide as the 3" monster does on exit of heart. This is my new go to broadhead, I know you love that 3" but I am a believer in that X cut for blood trail. A good option and something for you/friends of Bunjie to consider/test.
Started using the Swhacker #200, made for x-bow. 125 grain and 2.25" cut. They have a set screw system similar to the Sevr, allowing you to practice with your actual broadhead without them opening. They also come with both, the bands and the rubber plugs to retain the blades, or you can use both if you have a super fast bow. Excellent flight/groups and devastating downrange performance. Extremely pleased with them.
Love to hear the talk about broadheads. More opinions than I can count! After my Barnet stopped working I had to upgrade to a modern crossbow, wicked ridge shooting 380. Total arrow weight is 550. Sighted in and will keep shooting for practice. Still using 150 gr bolt cutters on the business end because with heart and/or lung shots on an unsuspecting buck, I've not had any issues. So that's my 2 cents.
415 grains is what I am at.. total bolt weight. Crazy light crazy fast and crazy deadly… for me… always got to say that.. works for my set up and my style of ground hunting with very close shots… I don’t shoot past 30 yards at most. I might throw a Hail Mary at a huge buck if he is between 30 and 40 yards.
This is with 125 grain mega meats…..!!!!….!!!!😮
Never used a rage just because I felt like everyone I know went with rage and I just wanted to be different and find something that works and I wanted to do my own homework and my own field testing to find the results I desired.. again mega meats… it all started with the dead meat and then I went bigger with the mega meats…..
I agree, speed kills! It worked with my compound and it works on my Tenpoint. I don't shoot 600 grain logs, I believe in shots under 30 , and I want my bolt to get there fast and hard !! My total bolt weight is 400 gr. Shooting at 392 thru chronograph.
I tossed around the idea of trying a fixed Exodus Broadhead..I keep telling myself what I have works.Rage hasn't let me down yet..Keep these greats videos coming.
I agree with you on more people to hunt with crossbow there is such a hate between compound bow hunters and crossbow hunting which I think is so crazy to each there own I love that you strictly shoot crossbow that is awesome .
It started from the trad primitive guys, we gave compounds a hard time telling them it isn’t real archery get a real bow they’ll kill all the deer. Any of these sound familiar hahahahha? So they are just spreading what we gave them to crossbows though I don’t think they know that crossbows predate compounds by several thousands of years hahahahah. But oh well.

I’m a stingy ole fart. I have quite a few GrimReapers Extra Cut 1 3/4 left over from compound hunting. Been using rubber bands to keep them closed. When I use them up I am pretty sure I will give them Swahackers a try. I also have 3 original NAP F.O.C. 170gr mechanical broadheads, 3 inch in and out😮.
This season I’m going back to fixed blades. Those are beautiful single bevel broadheads 👍the ranch fairy would approve. I’m going back to stinger buzz cut.

Love my Tooth of the arrow 4 blades.
Spine tuning and nock tuning is very important with fixed blades. I have been using Single Bevel for a couple years and love them. Took a while to dial them in though.Always pass through. The one upside from these is bone contact and heavy ligaments are less of a problem for them. Also, though less of an issue than is made out on UA-cam, the broadhead cannot fail to open properly. I don't use bleeder blades on mine, don't trust them.

Ironwill’s X broadheads are amazing! I would love to use the single bevel broadhead , but my current ravin arrows have straight fletching.
I use the rage hypodermic NC 100 gr. I pull the blades off and sharpen them with a jig and diamond plates and finish with lapping film down to .3 microns. They are polished basically when done where you could see yourself in them. They slice through them like butter!
the bleeders on the iron will still give you 1 3/4" overall "cut" - which is not that much less than a 2" cut, for what its worth.
I don't like those measurements, that's kind of the point I was trying to make. There is no way that broadhead cuts anything an inch away from the shaft so it doesn't count.
I love all the cases and organization of all the hunting stuff from over the years crazy you can look back and see just how the industry has changed and what was good and what what b.s.

Love the Sevr Robusto. That’s what I’m using this year. Very forgiving flight. Sevr is direct to consumer only so they do not sell them in archery stores or retailers. You have to buy them online but they do sell them individually or as multiples. I think a Robusto runs about $14 online. I have some unused Schwacker 251s too but have not used them yet … I have options.
I sent Rich one of these last year, I hope he does a video on it one day.
It's pretty sweet, especially looking at it again today, but man I do like my swahackers
You will love how they fly. The other cool thing is the blades lock when opened and they also pivot incase one hits bone

My broadhead of choice is the orange Rage X crossbow 2” cut, 10+ deer no issues 👍🏻 my first broadheads were nap spitfires and I had several issues with early blade deployment 👎🏻

Swat X mag. Is what I use. It's a swhacker and rage together.
The broadheads i use are only 1.25" wide. I'd take those you've got in a heartbeat!
Love those Swhackers too sir, I like how the tip is deep in (guiding direction) before opening the undulled main blades inside the animal, the best broadhead I have ever used IMHO, I will not go back to my fixed blades or other mechanicals(they are officially retired), many deer down & quick, if it's not broke I am not gonna fix it. -W. @@susanliggett3982 agreed in the guided direction keeping arrow straight allowing bolt to carry all the kinetic energy straight not dumping all the energy wobbling side to side..
Aluminum arrows will shoot fixed blade broadheads much more accurate than carbon. Using weighted inserts also helps with accuracy and penetration. This doesn't mean you have to shoot a heavy arrow, just adding 50 grains to the front can greatly improve arrow lethality. The cutting width of a small three blade is much greater than the appearance. A two blade is shooting a one dimensional slit and a three blade is shooting a two dimensional hole. You don't just measure the blades. Push the three blade thru a piece of paper and measure the slits to the CENTER of the hole . Even a small three blade can easily have 1 1/2 inches of cut. Have had multiple deer thru the years fall within sight even using a tiny 7/8 inch wide three blade. Because crossbows have become so fast, at least 100 fps faster than a compound, the chance for a large change in the arrow impact location out to 30 yards, due to animal reacting to the crossbow sound, is greatly diminished. Just make sure your arrow system can survive impact and has a high potential for a pass thru shot.

Sorry I missed the live stream. I’d love to join in next time. Best video this month. I switched to swhacker and my arrow set with my RevX is pin point accurate. Do you tape your BHs during practice or do you trust the practice blade. I’ve found the practice blade vs the BH are the same.
For the Swahackers I use the practice head. With some others I'm not so sure the head matches the broadhead. When they don't look the same, it tells me they might not fly the same.
I have been getting a lot of Emails from Sever broadheads..they look well made...thanks
Been using Swhackers for over ten years and have yet to lose any deer that I have ever hit with one, knock on wood, and a couple of those were kinda marginal hits. As Levi says, they just work.
Hey you would check out the g5 mega meat…. Switched to those from the Swhacker puts a massive hole on deer

Those do look nice I really like the case they come in. But again my mega meats is where it’s at for my set up.
So many great heads VPA omega is a hybrid of double and single bevels and tanto tips too. But all these heads have the same problem very small cutting diameter and that’s how they work.
Yes there are some fixed that are 2” cuts or whatever but good luck getting them to fly and they are way too heavy too.
Fixed has its place though and always good to have just incase SHTF and we can no longer get Swhacker’s ahahaha.
I am thinking of good fixed single bevels like the omega or iron wills and get them engraved. But that won’t be until later.

Still haven't been able to evaluate the swackers. Past on a five, six and seven pointer last year. Figured I'd still have time and get one of the big boys I was looking for. Didn't happen. But I got close. Story in itself, if you know what I mean.
A lot of the big meat killers, use the fixed. There must be a reason. Not sure. Not lucky enough to sling that many bolts at trophy animals, myself.

Hello my name is Danny I live in North Louisiana for the last 2 years I've been using Mega Meat broadheads where's my missions sub 1 XR have been pleased with the blood Trails especially
I'm in northwest Louisiana myself. I like to use the grimreaper razor cut ss crossbow broadheads with my Excalibur 355 micro. They work great with a 560 grain arrows.
I also use the Magnus ser razor 4blade broadhead as well.
Great blood trails and great arrow flight. I do work up my own arrows, so they are way better then over the counter arrows.
Rich I have heard that the Swat X1 has an issue with the finish coming off the cams and fraying the string …., have u encountered this issue ???
Only recently, I have not had that personally but it is something to keep an eye out for that's for sure

Is removing the blades from a Rage Trypan acceptable to create a broadhead test point? I am talking about after using a field point to sight in. I hope I have explained myself adequately.
I think that changes the weight too much without the blades. What I have done is use a small amount of JB Weld to keep the blades closed. Maybe that would work for you?
Long time subscriber first time commenter i am leaning towards annihilater broadheads for this season small cutting surface on those to just like tooth of the arrow but i like the one piece broadhead but the scoop design is supposed to make a bigger hole your thoughts

There are a lot of factors though that go into picking abroad head, what you are hunting plus what you are shooting that sort of thing
I shot IronWills through my crossbow only in high density foam targets. They kept breaking the bleeder blades. I love the design but couldnt keep buying bleeders just to prictice with. Too bad also bc I really loved the single bevel design. And probably the reason the bleeders break bc of the twisting action. Also on the small single bevel, you would be surprised by a larger hole than blade size that they will produce.
Bleeders are a waste of time in my opinion. I am running Ranch Fairy design single bevel from Sirius archery along with their carbon Phoenix shafts. Total weight on the package is 625 grains.
Got to talk you into using a dead meat or mega meat mechanical broadhead. Even if it’s for a doe or maybe a pig. Got to give them a try if you have not tryed them… firm believer in these broadheads…

@@Deathbybunjie think they where just having fun when they named these broadheads. And I think the dead meat was the perfect name. Then they went bigger so I get the mega too.. I’ve used swacker and had good experiences just not painting the woods as red as the mega meats. I really think that third blade opens the cut king of like you explained the bleeder blades just opens that entrance cut just as big as the exit. Just crazy good at making them bleed out. Quick and fast for a nice clean ethical kill. No suffering animals waiting to die.. dead within eye sight almost everytime in my experiences. Going on 12 deer with these broadbeads and got to say almost every deer is dead in eye sight. Had two die outside my view and that’s because they went over a hill side and died just out of my view… got to give them a try… maybe when you go to try your robust sevr broadheads.

I shoot a killer instinct ripper 425fps or 415fps with a 400 grain arrow including broad head only at whitetail deer i have watched broad head videos and they claim that the swacker heads leave little slits going through the animal and the annihilator with there scoop design does more damage to the animal internally your thoughts and maybe a watermelon test thank you and have a good day

Thank you for the video! I've been watching your content for some time and really enjoy it! Just to throw in a few more cents worth of comments... I have consistently had trouble with Swahacker field tips dropping an inch or more from basic field tips when target shooting. This has translated to missed opportunities on deer at least once in the field. My go-to broadhead is the 100gr Muzzy Trocar. I have a perfect shot record with the Muzzy's. I'll be trying Rage for the first time this season and I'm looking forward to seeing the differences in real-world field applications. Thanks again! p.s. I'm not sure if you covered it (you probably did but I missed the first few moments of the video) but what is the detriment to using standard broadheads compared to crossbow specific broadheads? I've often wondered why it matters as I haven't really noticed any difference at effective ranges under 40 yds. Thanks!

I'll keep testing and target shooting but for now I'm gonna say that the 100gr Swhacker's are a great option sitting on the rail of a Mission Charge. Thanks for bringing me back to the fold.

How many Schwackers can get for the price of those ironewill BHs. I’m not sure just how accurate they would be on more modern crossbows.
Very important to paper tune ( spine index and nock tune) with these things. Especially check bullseye at 20 and 50 yards as they sometimes fly different at longer ranges ( or as in my case they don't )
You can get an awful lot of them for the price of those iron wills!
@@jeffduthrie4330 match the bevels to your vanes have the stiff side of the spine in 6:00 or 12:00 position sight in as best you can best results were when blades matched the cock vane or hen vanes but it doesn’t really matter they are not off by lot either way. This is with any fixed heads and single bevels I have not tried iron

@@Deathbybunjie a buddy shot a huge buck with one last year. The damage was ridiculous. They certainly work well but, the only issue I had was one of the blades broke off inside the carcass. I found it while cleaning it out, luckily I didn’t cut myself but easily could have. I suppose that can happen with any mechanical blade though. Any thoughts about that? Have you had any issues with blades breaking?
