- Here's my take on one of the creepiest tracks from the Pikmin 2 soundtrack, the Submerged Castle theme. I hope you enjoy it, if you dare...

This is pretty much what Olimar and Louie would see from their point of view. The player has the luxury of looking above the place to see what's coming. The captains don't.
Plus, the sound of the Waterwraith rolling right at the camera is terrifying too. Sounds like a buzzsaw or something.

If the captains and the pikmin decide to leave the submerged castle early, this video is the last few minutes of a bulbmins life from its perspective.

That's an eerie thought.
Pretty sure by that point you already slayed the Waterwraith, considering you don’t get bulbmin until floor 2 and there isn’t another Geyser until the final floor.

What a nice surprise to see you here!
The eerie moaning... the dark atmosphere... the castle itself warns you of the horror that lies within... but you don't turn back. You plunge deeper into this cursed place, gathering the treasure as fast as possible. Even Louie speaks up of not feeling natural or safe here, as if something is following you, but you press on. Treading through these dark halls... they feel familiar. Is this what became of the old distant spring? Truly shattering to see it cursed to such a existence as a dark labyrinth. Beware, however, as like the distant spring carried with it a entity most smoky... A hollow ghost of the past lingers... in an endless search for the captain.
For a split second at 0:50 and if you reduce it to a slower speed, you can see the Waterwraith's eyes staring back at you from deep within the cavern. I regret my life choices. Love this rendition. The high notes make me laugh and cry at the same time.
That might just be a shiny spot on it’s body, since it’s a water like substance creature. Still, it’s pretty creepy.

If you’re talking about those two specks of light, those aren’t eyes. The actual head is further up the screen. The light specks could just be an error. Eerily enough, the Waterwraith in this video does appear to have some kind of face if you look closely…

1. Don't go to the ending. I was expecting it, but then I got scared.

4. I actually didn't have a hard time on this...Well, unless you count me stressing for like...5 minutes until the wraith came, which then I did have a hard time.

Gotta say Olimar and Louie got some balls of steel to be goin down there.
Here’s a small tip for those having trouble on this dungeon. It helps if on Sublevel’s 3 and 4 if you break a wall that leads to a dead end (preferably one that doesn’t have a bomb trap on the other side) but keep the wall up by 1/3 or 2/3’s. Then, toss over all of your leaves and any Bulbmin you wanna keep. The Water Wraith can’t get them! And if you need to break them out, disband them and they will tear down the wall.
Another good tip is to use the C-Stick (or down on the D-Pad if you use the Wii version) and push your group into a corner of a hallway when the Wraith comes by. He can’t squish into corners like you can.
When combining these two tips plus having all of the Explorer’s Kit items (besides the Pluckaphone for obvious reasons) and with a bit of practice and forward thinking, this dungeon is a total pushover! Also, don’t forget to use those spicy and bitter potions!

I recomend doing it without light upgrade. As much as its a bit more difficult, the armosphere changes a ton, and the entire cave ends up having much more ominous vibes. J recomend heavily

Its even creepier when you notive the geiser in the first sublevel. Its like the game itself is giving you the option to escape before its too late.
0:50 I see it and think "What was that?" I start to panic. Also note: Whatever you do, DON'T TURN YOUR VOLUME DOWN! LEAVE YOUR VOLUME WHERE IT IS! TURNING THE VOLUME DOWN MAKES THINGS EVEN SCARIER! TRUST ME!!

I was arrogant when I first played this game. It was before the time of youtube, back then we didn't know the horrors that waited for us.
I didn't properly catch that ending the first time. After rewatching it, that's one of the best jumpscares ever and there wasn't even any audio sting
The Submerged Castle is My Favorite Cave in Pikmin 2. The many traps and dangers that were in that cave, really keep you on your toes. It's quite difficult to beat this cave without any Pikmin deaths. But it is such a great accomplishment if you do beat the cave without any Pikmin deaths. Also, let's not forget about the Waterwraith. That creature is so mysterious and dangerous. The amount of terror the Waterwraith causes you to have is unforgettable. The Submerged Castle is one of the greatest things about Pikmin 2. The experience that you get from this cave, is something that you will never forget.
Quick summary of what I feel like is going on in this song from six years later:
This is a journey into the Waterwraith's den (well obviously), with the low chords at the beginning representing the dangers of what lies further in and the high chords representing the countless dead pikmin wailing in a chorus of despair.
As you delve further into the dungeon, what was once an eerie vocal pattern slips further and further away, with something eerie, dangerous lurking further still. Once you get far enough, you begin to hallucinate. You can't quite put your finger on what it is, but you know that it is out there. Hunting. In the depths of the cave, the wailing and crying of the dead is all but silenced. You don't know what it is, but something is beckoning you further in, silently calling. As you walk almost against your will at this point, you feel something coming. Suddenly, you wake up again at the peak of the Submerged Castle. This video is what the spirits of all the dead pikmin see forever now that they've met their end to the hands, or wheels, of the waterwraith. Just remember, five minutes is WAAAY too much time to spend on any of these floors. You should've been faster. All of this is your fault for dillydallying when the game literally tells you to run.

THIS IS FOR THE PIKMIN 4 PLAYERS: The first time you go through Engulfed Castle, FUCKING RUN TO EVERY EXIT. Don't bother with enemies, don't bother with treasure, just haul ass until you reach the final sublevel when you fight the water wraith. After you beat him, he's now completely dead, meaning you can go back and 100% every level without fear of the water wraith. Take your time. There's nothing to fear now.

I am SO glad I made it through the first three sublevels of this dungeon without the Water Wraith appearing on my first try, thought I'm scared to do sublevel four for fear of the streak being broken.However, if I do make it through sublevel four without the Wraith appearing, then it will be pretty entertaining to see its entrance as a boss paired with the ship freaking out about it while I have purple Pikmin in my squad.
I feel bad for replying to such an old comment, but it turns out there’s actually a timer mechanic! I think it’s like 3 or 5 minutes or something, though it’s definitely very stressful when you don’t know. It was even stressful when I found out the trick, it’s like a doomsday clock
yup, the waterwraith spawn timer is ; sub 1: doesn't appear, sub 2-4: appear after 5 minutes, sub 5: spawns when you're in its activation radius/hit box.

Oh, listening to this with headphones is *fun.* First time I think I've ever done it, but the 'ding! ding! ding!' coming from alternating ears and the voices sounding like they're surrounding you - And slightly behind you? - are way creepy. Bravo, Scruffy. Coming to this after a several day binge of your Pikmin 4 playthrough was just what I needed.

a horror game where you eternally delve into the submerged castle, and the water wraith is on every floor, but as it kills pikmin that you try to save in such futility, the wraith becomes more stained with the blood of the pikmin, until you are the only thing left for the wraith to crush

This amazing arrangement, reminded me of how I always wanted to know how the plasm wraith and the water wraith are connected. I always thought they were somehow connected because of how darn similar they are to each other, and how mysterious they both are. Can someone please tell me their theories on how they might be related? Im really curious to see what people think.
Shane Craig Well the only thing I could come up with is since the Water Wraith comes a different dimension I guess so does the Plasm Wraith.

There’s a tradition me and my siblings do every halloween.
At 11:00 PM one of us walks around the house with no lights on, this blasting on speakers just enough to be in your brain, and only with a very dim flashlight with dying batteries. The other siblings can put creepy stuff around the house beforehand, and if you last it to completely walk around the house, you win. Even though it sounds pretty easy, it is VERY hard some years. (probably because my brother is a menace)
