- The Shocker AMP is the 3rd in the line of "newer" Shockers released under the Shocker Paintball name. The AMP features improved ergonomic and a new bolt that is lower pressure with increased air efficiency.

Overall the changes to the AMP are great, the gun feels better in hand and I prefer the shot of the new bolt system. For my money though the Planet Eclipse 170R is still the maker that I would pick, they are nearly the same price, but I prefer the feel of the 170R over the AMP a bit more. The AMP is a great buy though and would be a perfect fit for most paintball players.

Been looking forward to this upload for days now. Best pb channel on UA-cam hands down. You deserve 1million subs.
This
1 million people don’t even play paintball, lol.
Thank you!
Agreed
Just bought 1 today after 20 years out of the sport...super excited
Have fun!
Had my AMP for 3 months, shooting 4,000+ paintballs a week. Works amazing, I love it.
It’s been 10 months. Super reliable, the only thing i hate is the trigger which I changed it for a SSC.
@@realkingrey2732 thanks for the update, thinking I need an AMP now.
@@realkingrey2732 another update ? 😂 I currently have etha 3 I’m thinking of getting AMP now
@@QlueIess AMP seems to be the most bang for your buck
Man that’s a lot of paint
Been shooting solely the shocker line since the 2003 sft which like it or not was the marker that TRULY revolutionized what a modern paintball marker was. Slim efficient form factor no external moving parts or openings/pneumatics to constantly clean paint out of. Ball sensing "VISION" anti chop eye system. Super smooth and luxurious spooly shot , aims super clean thanks to body and barrel design and so on. Was a dam good reason everyone and there mom used the shocker sfts including the most dominate dynasty teams ever. So many sick private labels came around as result too. Point being shocker line is the real heart of modern tourney paintball and am glad to see the Amp continuing this legacy . Will add it alongside my already excellent Shocker Sft NXT XlS line up. Proud and loyal of these guns.
Time for you to upgrade to PE
My amp arrives Thursday. I'm stoked to get my hands on it!
get the ssc soft tip bolt, mine broke alot of paint ( i shoot 5 star) out the box and once i got that it made a world of difference.
It's amazing - I have the 299th one and I use it over my CS2 Pro due to how much slimmer it is and it's nostalgia from early/mid-2000s when I used an Ion and Z-Series Intimidator; you'll love it. I also got the Super Stanchy Customs Luxe X/Shocker AMP Super Soft Bolt from Lone Wolf Paintball.
I only had an issue w/the on/off button breakin off, so I had to call GOG/SP to send me a replacement and they sent me an RSX bolt for some reason, then I called again and they sent the correct part overnight. Then I had an issue w/how to take it apart, so I can actually replace it. ANS Gear made a special video and sent it to me on my phone on how to disassemble it. GOG/SP said they would do it, but they never did even after I e-mailed them back.
Hopefully you won't have a basic issue like this, especially w/their poor customer service.
@@denverpurgepaintball7147 I heard about that so I ordered one at the same time.
@@denverpurgepaintball7147 did you get the O-ring replacement for your AMP? SP came out with a revision to the O-rings on the bolt for better shot quality on softer paint. Check their site.
@@Th3unknownuser111 I know they released that o-ring kit and also started putting the new o-rings on the new amps from the factory. Just have to wait and see what mine comes with.
Just shot my new Shocker Amp this past weekend! great review.
I'm getting into the game way late but that's just how I do everything..I appreciate you're knowledgeable experience and opinions.
great review. Your videos are always straightforward and cover all the important points without the fluff.
Mine is out for delivery as we speak lol can’t wait !!! Awesome review
Coming back into paintball after taking 10 years off , and playing for ten years before that love new markers. Etha and emek are awesome my shocker has giving me only
Issues so far
SP can be a hit or miss. Sorry to hear that, but they should get you taken care of
@@proudaref9185 just sent it in. See what happens
Thank you. I really enjoy your videos. I’m an old school player and looking at getting back into it with my son. We love planet E. But really appreciate your angle of thinking on all the products. Keep up the great work.
Would love to see gameplay in the review like you did with the lv 1.6. Still love the videos and I think you are very down to earth and have the right mentality about the current landscape of paintball guns.
What I’d really like it someone to film me playing with it.
@@PaintballRuinedMyLife if I was in California I’d be your guy. I run a video production company. But I’m in Michigan.
Ordered one for my brother for his birthday, makes me want to get back into paintball now.
Excellent Markers. Excited to get my hands on one! I've heard the o-ring update for the bolt eliminates the need for the soft tip bolt, allowing you to keep shooting the lowest pressure possible.
Yea it makes a big difference. I have 12-15 cases through my AMP. Shot 8 cases in our last tournament "WCPPL". And I never broke one ball.
@@Th3unknownuser111 have you updated your amp I just bought one and it didn’t come updated really giving me trouble trying to get this thing updated
@@Th3unknownuser111 would you recommend the AMP ? I’m thinking of getting one. For bang for the buck that’s seeming like my best option atm
Right, as long as a gun is capable of 10 pods on a 68 in today's day and age that's all you ever need for even the grindiest of uncommon long games. So like you said: cs2, amp, geo4, or XDR it really is kinda placebo we have hit a point in high end guns where there is nothing extraordinary or super revolutionary. The o-ring leaking thing is kinda neat, same with tool-less bolts and grips on some guns, but really as long as the amp is as reliable as the PE lineup then I feel like it's placebo at that point (and $...).
Yoo imagine one day we get a case on a 77
Instead of using paint for air efficiency what about reball? Or do you think they will act differently?
I have 15 cases through my AMP. And it's been a solid marker this season. The air efficiency is on point. I did go to a stanchy deuce trigger.
The revised O-ring changes to the bolt have made a slight difference to shot quality. I haven't used my LV1.5 or my Luxe X since owning the AMP.
I've played in wet/cold conditions as well WCCPL, UPL. And have had 0 issues. Overall I like it. I'm going to shoot it all season.
dude same. its an absolute beast after being dunked in snow, gross conditions, anything. its a damn ak47.
This piece is awesome. I too have had a great experience with my amp!
Now after a year, Are you still using your Amp as your main marker? Do you think, it's the best marker in it's price range?
Great review, always look forward to your videos
Just ordered mine and waiting for it to come in. I am used to my tool-less 170r but I dont mind getting used to the amp. I cant wait to get the first shots going!
Would you mind giving me an update on that if possible? Debating on buying an AMP with mech frame but my dad just pretty much told me it’s basically dawg 💩 and that there were a lotta issues with them and that’s why they stopped making them
@@treymerriman3888 it shoots amazing and I LOVE the ergonomics but the couple of small changes that are fixeable from my opinion. Theyre also on sale because the Era is the new gun for them. Similar to how when the 180 came out, 170 eventually dropped in pricing.
1) front grip slides off too easily when I was playing (add some pro dna tape to the top of the front grip frame before sliding the grip back on and its solid now)
* ASA twist knob was hard to turn because its smooth plastic (ive upgraded to the lever ASA or you can cover your knob with small pieces of infamous/pro dna tape to grab it easier to turn),
3) Lastly the bolts twist to unlock feature to pull out the bolt twists waaay too easily. Its unlocked a couple of times during play and Ive had to twist to lock it back up.
@@treymerriman3888 if I were you, id just get the DSR+ because I regret not getting that gun 😂 lol i kinda regret this Amp
@@AaronLopez-wk4xv it’s a super tough decision.. I was looking for the best gun that I can also get a mech kit for , and be able to swap quickly and easily at the field if needed. That’s the one thing that kinda threw me off the DSR+ . And the amp mech kit comes with the asa attached. I found an AMP w/ mech kit for $585 and I can’t find a DSR+ or CS2 near that. But I’ve also heard about “a lot of people that have had issues with their AMP” which ultimately kinda makes me wonder if they’re not very good / reliable
I was waiting for him to go "And pulling this whole gun together. We Have.. The Gamma Core!"
on a scale of 1-10 how good is this gun if you can recall compared to similar priced used guns (400-600), is it a player for like $450-500 or no good pricing?
Did you buy one ?! I’m considering atm
@@treymerriman3888 no im looking for a certain green color thats rare it seems
Damn I didn’t know about the regulator holes to simplify maintenance when a problem pops up. Genius?
Will there be a video on the protoyz speedster?
Hey man been binging your vids now that I’m gettin back in the sport and the information is unmatched. Given that these have been on sale for around 750 would you still recommend given the board issues popping up or do you think those are just lemons? I’ve wanted a shocker forever but the stuff popping up over the last few months has me questioning it. Thanks in advance
Did you ever get one / have any new info? Im in the exact same boat rn. 🙃😅 I’m going crazy lol
Just got an AMP. I'm pretty amped to use it! Thanks for your take!
Also jusy got the AMP yesterday 😎
Did you ever end up having issues with your AMP?!
Did you ever end up having issues with your AMP?!
I always enjoy ur informative vids. Will you do a review of the HK shocker Amp
I have a shocking truth...
The original PVI/Smart Parts "Shoebox" Shocker is not a spool.
Yeah, I think it was considered a hammerless poppet valve. Dye buying the rights to the Matrix back when Smart Parts was going sue-happy for electronic triggers is pretty much what kept them out of court. They more-or-less said "You want to charge us royalties for using an electronic trigger? Fine. We'll charge you for using a spool valve design in your new shocker SFT." The Gardner's replied with the legal equivalent of "loljk it's just a prank bro.."
@@sharkpocalypse2576 I'm glad somebody remembers. Nobody ever talks about why Smart Parts rebranded. . . They tarnished their reputation horribly trying to create a monopoly.
@@normang3668 are the same people still in charge and making money at Luxe?
Using Allen keys to remove eye covers or put batteries in doesn't matter at all , nobody removes eye covers in the field it's always on a table so taking 5 seconds to take a screw out means nothing . The big advantage of the shocker is the freak barrel , best barrel money can buy and one you will most likely buy for any gun you have . The 170 is also really nice but you will have to buy a barrel at some point . Tough choice between the 2 guns I'm leaning shocker but the quality of planet eclipse is unmatched.
Did you ever buy one?! If so, did everything work out good or did it end up giving you issues
@@treymerriman3888 bought both of them , both guns are amazing. There is zero point to buy a " high end " gun the " mid tier " guns works just as good and are basically the exact same . The 180 is literally exactly the same as the CS 3 except tooless grips and costs $600+ less . The same for the 170 and CS 2 only difference being barrel and tooless grips , the performance and reliability is exactly the same .Paintball has reached it's peak and most guns just perform great .
Dude you are such a Planet fan boy
Amp is a shameless low quality copycat of PE
@@fotenks Maybe, but the triggers better on the amp. I know for me that’s a pretty big deal breaker. To me, Its worth the “slight decrease” in reliability. So to say it’s gonna unreliable and low quality is such an incorrect statement. Get off of PE’s reliability di*k and grow some unbiased opinions.
Great video as always 🙏🙏🙏🥳🥳🥳

I want the emek so bad!!!!
Your hands make the AMP look tiny. Nice review though!
Just got the luxe x............now I wanting this
Lol.....
Now here’s a question. Which is better. The Etha 3 or Shocker AMP?
Honestly I’d probably pick the Etha3, a lot of people might lean to the Amp though.
@@PaintballRuinedMyLife My team convinced me that the Shocker would be worth it so I ended up getting one later that day for $650. Hopefully that turns out okay!
How did the shocker end up working out for you?? Trying to decide whether to pull the trigger on getting one or not. I was so close to buying but now kinda in the middle of the fence about it
The next big change in paintball will be the eye system. The first company to come out with some sort of radar or EFM eye system will be forever known as great. Imagine never worrying about getting paint on the eyes and never having to clean them.
That's the Dye eye pipe system lol
@@austang8556 Still different. What I am talking about is completely different. Broken paint will still interfere with the Dye eyes. Paint wont get on the actual eyes, sure, but will still give a false reading.
@@austang8556 I'm talking about not using light at all. Broken paint will still get in the way of the beam of light making the gun think there is a ball in the chamber. Not sure exactly what to use, but I'm sure there is a way to do it.
Do amp grips fit on the xls ?
I’m thinking about getting this and I’ve been looking for videos on how to out in the battery on the shocker amp
Can you pls do a video on how to put the battery in
Its really easy, there are two screws that hold the grips on, under that is the 9v. Its really easy.
I cant wait for my 170r, coming tomorrow
You will love the 170. You made a good move.
@@MrManson1337 I do its great, I traded my etha 2 and emek for it. I also got the fl kit carbon tip silencio tip and mech frame and hair 45 valve
Ok.. with all these constant reminders about the size of your hands. im curious to know your thumb to pinky length? for it to be affecting you.
I still have my SP ION from 2009
My God your hands are huge hehehe thans for the information, I have this question what's the deal of dye making an upgrade for m3 selenoid?
The shoebox shocker wasn’t low pressure as far as I’m aware
Is it hard to make one? Cuz my wife alweys says, do shocker for me, and im like, bitch just take my etha or look on ebay for one. I dont have tools for that!
i got the ssc soft tip bolt for my amp and a hyper deuce trigger and it made a world of difference its alot quieter and the ergonomics fit perfect for my big ass hands lol and it can shoot brittle paint alot better its amazing just wish it would of came with it for 900
Can you play speed ball with a pump like kp3.5
Where you at brother! Lol. I'm impatient so just ignore me.
Just minor upgrades... like a completely new bolt system.
After 2 years my amp finally gave out, broke microswitch once had it replaced. And thats about the only thing that was ever wrong with it . Yesterday it started leaking bad and i think its just time to upgrade now going for a tm40
Do It!
i’m
about to get my first amp today, and i’m skeptical about the maintenance and durability :(, how often did you maintenance ur amp?
@@PaintballRuinedMyLife i got the tm40 today 😁
@@tankettv1714 i literally did maintenance like 10 times at most in 2 years
Have fun! I kinda am getting border of the Eclipse guns and have been looking at Luxes.
DSR a forgotten champion lol
Just bought one trying to get into the tournament seane
Do it!
What’re your thoughts on buying one as of today?! Would you do it again? Basically, is it worth it or am I going to inevitably have problems with the solenoid / o-rings ?
@@treymerriman3888 I had one problem with the board connecting to the eyes but It was just a screw lose they are great guns and shoot great
@treymerriman3888 had mine for 2 years now and have had zero issues...maybe broke 5 balls in 50+ cases...it never breaks paint! Shoots absolutely Lazer beams and is a breeze to clean
I hate that they’ve extended the reach of the guns forefrip / ergos… miss the tight compact feel of the sft and guns like the fep quest. Why do ppl like holding tipman rentals?
Amp or 170i or a lv1.6 ? @ paintball ruined my life
Gamma core-IV core. . . Don't care (The guns shot sounds so good.)
Do a video on the ion haha itll be a fun video
This man is obsessed with his normal hands..
Gotta do the empire sniper 🙏🏼
i have a empire sniper and it’s a good gun for the price i would recommend saving a little more and building your own pump but end of the day the sniper is reliable only problem with mine was the handle was sticky easy fix tho!
Yoo CCM leaps and bounds better than empire sniper
It just feels like a spyder compared to a ccm
luul everyone is stealing on PE :D dafq thats the gamma again !
Yeah, why buy the ripoff for 900 when you can actually get a CS2 for around that now?
If i buy this gun will i have ball breaks in the barrel? how many cases can you shoot with out breaking paintlol
be quite kid
Shocker Nerve
I'm surprised how many people like this gun
its pretty damn good cant lie. will outshoot most guns in the right hands, has no issues in harsh conditions, never breaks
❤️my amp great gun
what color is that
black on pewter
@@PaintballRuinedMyLife Woohoo - I'm getting mine on Saturday!
I’m stuck between this and a 170r 😅
Me too what did you go with
@@colinorton4811 170r. ZERO issues since purchasing
I REALLY wanted the AMP to be good. In real life it was pretty bad. Traded for the 170R and couldn't be happier.
@@___meph___4547 I know plenty. Including, but not limited to, several weeks of play with both markers. For me, the 170r was much much better.
@Aaron Gormley I am very curious as to how / why you feel that way when I and everyone else is absolutely blown away by the amps performance/price ratio ect. Honestly asking
@FreeLife1775 just my personal experience. To start, the 170R has a for grip that doesn't spin all over the place.
2nd the 170r doesn't break paint like my Shocker did.
3rd the overall build quality is just plain better on the 170r.
I came into this completely blind, knowing nothing beyond the Ion i built back around 2006. Now that I'm an adult and have some money....100% I'd spend my money on the PE marker every time.
@FreeLife1775 like I said. I've owned both. The rubber grip on the AMP was in no way affixed to the frame under it. The rubber grip spun all over the place, and I met 2 other early adopters that sold the marker after their first day at the field.
I was lucky enough to have a player let me use his 170R the same day I brought the AMP and I posted the AMP up for sale/trade the next day. Keep in mind this is my first "high" end marker. Got the 170R and couldn't be happier. I'll never sell it unless there's some major shift in tech regarding accuracy.
@FreeLife1775 lol, just stating my experience man. I seriously have no dog in this race. I also have bigger hands and prefer the grip and layout of the 170r.
I'm not sure how you don't know what I mean about the foregrip. Mine basically just slid off with zero resistance. Mine was an early. 3 digit serial number. So it's possible they've made some revisions? I simply haven't heard of anything being changed aside from the o-ring.
Dang I just bought a xls
Cant go wrong with P.E.
grip material is still shit, worst grips in the business. Love my RSX tho, just annoying that I have to buy new grips each year.
saying long term reliability could be better with a planet eclipse gun is nonsense
RSX or XLS > AMP for the price. unless they come out with a new marker and this one drops in price, isnt worth the buy yet.
Quick rundown of the differences?
@@rybobuno better bolt takedown, less screws, more efficient on air, and the eyes dont have wires going between the frames
Next step in paintball is battery powered system like in airsoft. But Graphite batteries need to actually be developed
Love my 170r. Why buy something that tries to clone the real deal and spend more money. Just my opinion.
third
Can't believe anyone actually supports this company still. Paintball would've been better off without the Gardner brothers.
Yup. Another 2nd rate Gamma Core knockoff from them.
True that
Smart Parts did hurt paintball with some of their tactics but to say paintball would be better off without them is a little much imo.....they came out with the first electro gun, great barrels and some very good regulators. That original PnueVentures Shocker....for its time was an incredible gun....I had one and compared to my Automag, Tippman Pro Am, VM68 and my buddies cocker it was a huge improvement in technology....plus The All As were one of the dominant teams for years.
I’ll still disagree. SP stiffed Pneuventures even though they were the real mad scientists. Once Pneuventures was properly screwed, SP went in and bought up the IP when they were in receivership. Dye had patents too, for the asa…I believe. Gardners are greedy lowlifes. Simple as that.
