Chris 2bhp really makes no difference though and I live in a rough area and my job makes insurance generally £2-300 more expensive than average so it would only really be cheaper for other people.
With an i30 N they’re newer so don’t have a history of crashes. Vxrs on the other hand have been round for years with engine problems which people claim on and plenty of crashes which unfortunately puts others insurance up when getting one. I was 19 when I insured my corsa e vxr a couple month ago; was only £700
I have a 58 plate corsa vxr that I have now owned for over 3 years. Bought on 64k and it’s now on 105k. Engine hasn’t skipped a beat because I’ve looked after it. Gearbox needed new bearings but didn’t break the bank at all and it’s been sweet for 25k miles. I would recommend buying one if you’re going to keep it at stock power level but wouldn’t recommend if not. If you look after the car, it’ll look after you. The people that usually buy these don’t look after them and are young lads with no mechanical sympathy, that’s why they have the rep they do.
I hope you rite I have mine 3 month now and it's in garage for p4 looks like woteva nob had it before didn't look after it.... I look after my cars.... Its only done 57000 hope wen I get it back if I look after it i will have it a long time 🙂
I’ve had mine for nearly 3 years now a 2009 pretty much standard and had piston issue had this forged and put to stage 3 and never skipped a beat and had been the most reliable car I’ve had, would track it, take it to Santa pod and yet could drive 10 hours straight no issues at all, currently being built to 330 bhp having the correct work done by machining head, supertech valves, valve guides, valve springs as well as piper cams and K04 turbo, as well as having the gearbox upgraded with bigger bearings and having the brembos put on from the Nurburgring edition 👌 you want it to last do it properly don’t cheap out because then it will fall apart like everyone else’s 👍, track this car a lot and never causes me issues and can daily it with 31 mpg, regular serving (3-5k miles) using good parts and oils will keep it running and make sure it warmed up probably and cooled down 👍
owned my corsa vxr for about 3 years now, stage 2 running 220, cant go wrong with it. never had any issues, all this piston 4 bollocks puts people off, if you maintain it like a normal human being like any other car, it will be fine. mine isnt forged either.
you still got it another 3 years later? How has it been since... I got a stock standard OPC now 2 months ago... full service history and I look after stuff... high milage and now issues at all... hope I can keep it that way
I love my VXR but I've been driving for over thirty years and know to take it easy with something that kick outs 205BHP through the front wheels. I think for someone who's new to driving yes they're an awesome car but that power difference between your average corsa that your driving instructor probably has and the VXR Nurburgring is night and day. You'd probably struggle to insure one of these anyway as a new driver but if you can and you get your hands on one take the time to get used to the handling of the car as it's probably unlike anything you'll have driven before as a young driver. Drive safe guys, I just love my VXR Nurburgring and wouldn't drive any thing else after owning one.
I’m 21 now and just bought my burg yesterday!! Black sapphire colour with all the upgrades & lower mileage, I’m so so happy! Upgrading from the limited edition Corsa SRI so am super super excited to start driving😍😍😍
I’m 19, got myself 2 years no claims after having a lisence for 1 1/2 years, getting one of these next month and my insurance quote is £850 no box, fully comp so they’re actually not bad for young drivers at all I’d say
Previous owner of a Corsa VXR for 4 years. If you plan on modifying the car YOU SHOULD NOT BUY ONE. They are built incredibly cheap and fall to bits after adding power to them. Had nothing but problems and spend thousands to achieve what most cars do with a stage 1. Would never recommend one to anyone and would say buy a Fiesta ST, which is what I now have and is miles ahead.
CG yep, very similar scenario to me. Bought mine in 2016 it was 3 years old with 14k miles. Put about 20k on it trouble free then remapped it and it fell to bits. Piston 2 cracked, gearbox, turbo, clutch, loads of sensors, the list goes on. Not worth it one bit.

George Bresnan hahahaha you think I didn’t spend top dollar? I sunk £13k into my Corsa over 4 years. Forged by Giz Motorsporta very reputable VXR shop, overbored with refurbished head, new valves etc, serviced every 5k with millers fluids, only ever bought parts direct from GM. Was mapped by RnD to 250bhp with a full Milltek exhaust, airtec intercooler, 613cc injectors. Everything bought new. I did everything by the book and bought the best I could get for what I wanted out of the car and it STILL kept biting me in the arse.
MisterVaneo i meant to put it in the main comments didn’t realise it was put on your comment 😂 I think it’s mainly on lucky if I’m honest mate depends all on how the car was first treated from new in my opinion, not had many issues with mine had P4 and a coolant leak and that’s it 😂 never broke down once, don’t a few 560 mile road trips in a day in it and was still happy 😂
I got one for a laugh and so far it's cost me near 2k to keep running but the engine still has 180psi across all cylinders. I work in Germany and I have hit an indicated 142mph. Cars not stock and very well looked after and I think it's a right laugh and looks awesome in green. Don't buy one if you have shallow pockets as they are thirsty. Mines sits between 22-25mpg. Regular services are essential...
The front end with the grey paint on the grill, the bits either side of the reg and fog surrounds, are not factory. This has been done by an owner. The Burgs and Clubsports (the latter came out after the burg as an end of line vxr before the corsa e came out, is essentially a burg but comes with a remus backbox and a couple of extra interior differences and different colour wheels and mirrors) all come with half leather interior (as per this video), full heated leather is a factory option. I have a clubsport with every option box ticked (incl the heated leather), not a bad motor if driven with respect. I compression test it every 6 months, all is good so far, or have I spoke too soon haha
As someone who lives in London, my cheapest insurance quote for one of these after passing my test was £10,499 for the year.... an Astra VXR was £16,999, and a Renaultsport Clio was £22,999 a year for me to insure... this is no joke, and yes I live in a high risk area😂

i don't know if my area is just cheap, but i'm 17 and looking for a first car and a corsa vxr is quoted to set me back 1400 no box full comp with 2 parents as named drivers.
The Corsa VXR Nurburgring was sold from 2011 so I'm unsure how you wanted one 12 years ago, plus I'm not sure you really know enough about the car to give it a proper review, more research needed 😁
N/a life !! Its a good sounding and very fast and reliable car ! But its not turbo !! Thats why it is so reliable so ... And i think it Burns some oil as the most Japanese cars
I'm still paying £2,200 with a black box for my second year. I could probably get insured on this without a black box in my middle 20s. Wouldn't consider myself a young driver anymore at that point... Plus don't know many young drivers that have £7,000 lay around to spend on a car
What’s point in leaving comments you never reply or like anybody’s points ? Come on Jamie people enjoy watching your vids at least have decency to reply to people we are supporting your vids ✌️
Corsa D 1.2 sxi is the best Corsa you can own. Good points Tons of power for over taking mobility scooters that do not use any lights after dark, also really good for using your local car parts shop as a second home, saying all that my 2011 1.2 has covered 140,000 miles with no timing chain rattle changing oil every 6000 miles takes care of that. now for the not so good points, it's had 1 water pump 1 clutch 1 thermostat. 1 plastic coolant housing common fault. 1 evap thingy 1 battery 1 temp sensor 1 ac compressor 1 . 4 new springs and shocks. discs and pads tires. 1 coil pack and a few other parts other than that it's reliable and only let me down 6 times.
I have had both a standard VXR and the Nürburgring. Both are great cars but the gearboxes were made of chocolate. The Nürburgring I bought from new and was absolutely amazing. My only gripe was that I had loads of issues with it. P4 and gearbox both went in the first 2 years of ownership and in year 3 I had a new Diff and gearbox again and yes I did always warm it up and cool it down, I just drove it how it was meant to be driven. Real shame as they are a blast to drive around in but too problematic for me.
Fuel is important, it's because some petrol isn't good, you may think you're getting 98 on pump it can be actually 95, they mix em up all time, so you need to use acetone at 3ml per litre, and you never get lean fuel on p4 as highly increases octane to 99.7 Ron, ...
@@aceofspades-ee4ii The issues with P4 were not fuel related but the sump was poorly designed so p4 would not get enough oil and so would get too hot and crack.
these really are not the ideal car for young drivers … you of all people should know that they are quite expensive to run when used hard , the gearbox is made from chocolate the m32 shit it self box , cylinder number 4 is a very big problem with these granted if looked after , maintained etc then yeah a better chance of less issues but the problem then is you will pay way over the odds of what they are actually worth in the real world insurance costs to the normal people is crazy high because idiots buy these cars then batter and crash them because they cant drive or think they know everything about the roads , more to the point a more realistic car for a fairly young driver i would say if your after a petrol turbo car maybe a fiesta st there semi good on fuel when not used heavy easy 40 mpg , when under load they still return high 20 mid 30 s , which isn't to bad really , they are defiantly a lot more reliable than those Corsa vxr's don't get me wrong the fiesta st has its problems like all cars but not as many as those crappy Corsa's also an option for a eco boost 1.0 or i think its a 1.5 in some of the focus models they are ok to a few issues when high mileage and more prone to failure but still even those are more reliable than a vxr. if you as and giv4k me any young driver should hop into quite a slow and steady car to start with as people think they can jump into A turbo car fwd. or awd and be king of the b roads until they end up face first in a tree and put everyone else's premiums up such a unrealistic guy when you speak about first cars and whats cheap to run and insure to you compared to the normal folk out there not everyone has a UA-cam channel and crappy apparel that people will follow and buy lol. if you ask me your a bit of a snob. a lot better reviewer's out there
Dj Lilz Nw Bro, had myself an Artic Edition #007 ... But the inevitable P4 came along. Currently looking at a Burg, hence the viewing of Jamie’s vid, best bet it to look at Plate 11+ Vauxhall near enough ironed out the P4 / Chocolate M32 boxes, but all depends on driving etc etc, fair to say I ragged the s**t out of my Artic, won’t be happening when I pick up my Burg! 👌🏽
Dj Lilz Haha, that’s fair ... Tbh bud, there are a few Insignia VXRs on the market for ball park figures of a Burg ... Might be worth looking into, as they’re stock 320bhp and they look mean as hell! 🤣👌🏽
There is like a £2k difference standard vs Nurburgring/clubsport editions. Saying that I just paid £900 insurance for the year on my corsa vxr running 240bhp with 4 years no claims. Other than piston 4 going which is luck and my clutch going which is wear and tear. The only issues I’ve had during my 2.5 year ownership is a seized calliper and a coolant hose leak which happened literally 2 days ago. £30 fix for that.
Good vid but not a fan of the corsa vxr, don't underdtand how they could justify selling a car that is essentially a ticking time bomb with its P4 issues.
Just wait until your 2 or 3 year point if you want a faster car just give u time to save up for a much better car than being skint every month like most people wanting to remap their car vxr don’t give u a lot of bhp from a stage one from 205 to 225 isn’t a great deal
He’s paying £650 a year he’s 24 and has 1 years no claims? that’s amazing not just good, I’m 24 I have 1 years no claims and all I have is a 1.6 diesel Astra and I’m paying £1200 for the year
Loved my vxr, had remus, filter etc but found the recaro seats very uncomfortable after half hour. Defo need at least stage 1 though as torque wasnt great
Same here. Not trying to put down corsa owners. About 3 people I know with corsas had headgasket problems. My sister had a corsa D 1.2 and I noticed the power wasn't all there. Even on the day the seller was coming to pick up the car it was starting, the starter motor wasn't engaging the engine. Luckily dad fixed that so the new owner was happy
Just take a forged one and enjoy it ! Make it 250hp is a great amount of power for this car!! But it need a lot of fuel !! Its a turbo sport car ! It makes sense is a ibiza cupra 20vt cheaper to run ? Make me know comment below
It’s all fun and games until you roll it into a ditch and a fence post pierces your roof narrowly missing your head. Apart from that, great little car.
Had 3, first one at 19 and insurance was £1400, second one at 22 at £800 insurance and a green burg at 23 that was £600. Decent cars, fun to drive, just riddled with issues.
Good vid mate this is my first car love it very quick only had it for a month and can’t get enough of it fuel is not good but I didn’t by it for shit fuel bought it cos of its noise it makes growls and pops like it should not been remapped either mine cost £5200 only had 65000miles so love it mint car

I see everyone moaning about his insurance quotes but he did say its subject to where you live. I'm 25, live in Birmingham, 3 years ncb and 7 years driving and its £800 for mine. It really depends on where you live and your claim history tbh so don't moan at the lad lol.
I had a arctic edition corsa vxr got to say one of the least reliable car I’ve ever had Gearbox is wank Engine is super wank hi P4 :) Goes through tyres like anything. Goes through front shocks like anything Such a shame as the cars look great and those recaros are beautiful Great car made by the wrong company.👍🏻 Just buy a ep3
That’s gonna be like 5k insurance for a young driver, if you want something that’s the same as this but low insurance / low bhp get a corsa limited edition (legit a vxr with a less powerful engine)
@@ihyyhyyi4663 I could of insured one of these at 18 for £600. Not everyone lives in slums most of insurance depends on your postcode. Its not rocket science

£2200 for a vxr and a black box? Fuck that. I was £600 for an ST at 18 and £800 for a scircocco R at 21
I can't hear you over the sound of the gearbox exploding its self...
What 19 year old will be able to afford the insurance 😂. Grow up and live in the real world jamie
Exactly it’s like 200 or something a month on insurance, unless daddy pays for it then sure
eZ easily do able if u work full time
My 2014 Peugeot 208 gti is only £700 a year without a black box. I insured it when I was only 18.
Id be embarrassed if i couldnt afford the insurance on a vxr at 19. I could easily insure a mk7 ST or vxr for £600 when I was 18
Infamouz my first insurance quote is £1700 for a Peugeot 107 LMAO
I have the normal 2012 vxr I'm 23 with 1 YNCB license since 17 and I pays £1400 on insurance, so how has he got it to £600??
You have 1 yncb that explains why? Most 23 year olds will have 6 years no claims
I have one but want to no what I have to do for a stage 1 and then a stage 2 remap anyone that could help Cheers
Best place to get mapping done for vxrs who are well known in the vxr community is wg motorworks
Great video!
Wanted one when I was 20 but could not afforde it so now turning 25 its about time do swap my old vectra and have some fun 😄
are these honestly worth buying? been looking at them recently
Yeah they technically are but it’s best to just get it forged
fully forged or just forged pistons?
@@eightfour5087 It needs to be fully forged it works out cheaper and it’s better for being more reliable after it’s forged
Even if you have all the service history tip top it will still chew up gearbox and spit out 4-th piston. Just a matter of time really.
To insure that or any other car like that or just any car period without blackbox in London u20 is gunna probs be 3k+ a year 😭 great vids tho
The VC LTD is 1800 insurance for me
I have had both a standard VXR and the Nürburgring.
Hate to be a buzzkill, but the insurance would kill any young lads hopes of owning one of these
these really are not the ideal car for young drivers … you of all people should know that they are quite expensive to run when used hard , the gearbox is made from chocolate the m32 shit it self box , cylinder number 4 is a very big problem with these granted if looked after , maintained etc then yeah a better chance of less issues but the problem then is you will pay way over the odds of what they are actually worth in the real world insurance costs to the normal people is crazy high because idiots buy these cars then batter and crash them because they cant drive or think they know everything about the roads , more to the point a more realistic car for a fairly young driver i would say if your after a petrol turbo car maybe a fiesta st there semi good on fuel when not used heavy easy 40 mpg , when under load they still return high 20 mid 30 s , which isn't to bad really , they are defiantly a lot more reliable than those Corsa vxr's don't get me wrong the fiesta st has its problems like all cars but not as many as those crappy Corsa's also an option for a eco boost 1.0 or i think its a 1.5 in some of the focus models they are ok to a few issues when high mileage and more prone to failure but still even those are more reliable than a vxr. if you as and giv4k me any young driver should hop into quite a slow and steady car to start with as people think they can jump into A turbo car fwd. or awd and be king of the b roads until they end up face first in a tree and put everyone else's premiums up such a unrealistic guy when you speak about first cars and whats cheap to run and insure to you compared to the normal folk out there not everyone has a UA-cam channel and crappy apparel that people will follow and buy lol. if you ask me your a bit of a snob. a lot better reviewer's out there
How many additions of the vxrs are they
4 bud
Standard
Artic
Burg
Clubsport
Push To Start thanks mate iv been trying to find it out for ages
Dj Lilz Nw Bro, had myself an Artic Edition #007 ... But the inevitable P4 came along.
Currently looking at a Burg, hence the viewing of Jamie’s vid, best bet it to look at Plate 11+ Vauxhall near enough ironed out the P4 / Chocolate M32 boxes, but all depends on driving etc etc, fair to say I ragged the s**t out of my Artic, won’t be happening when I pick up my Burg! 👌🏽
Push To Start yeh am looking into getting a vxr as the 1.2 sxi isn’t enough any more 😂
Dj Lilz Haha, that’s fair ... Tbh bud, there are a few Insignia VXRs on the market for ball park figures of a Burg ... Might be worth looking into, as they’re stock 320bhp and they look mean as hell! 🤣👌🏽
Had mine for ages and never had any issue guess iv been lucky
Love the Vxr 🏆
Love watching your reviews Jamie.,, your a funny guy. Top one mate.👍
I've just won one, 220 bhp mountney stage 2 tuned.👍
in my opinion opel corsa is the best youth car 👌🏼
There is like a £2k difference standard vs Nurburgring/clubsport editions. Saying that I just paid £900 insurance for the year on my corsa vxr running 240bhp with 4 years no claims. Other than piston 4 going which is luck and my clutch going which is wear and tear. The only issues I’ve had during my 2.5 year ownership is a seized calliper and a coolant hose leak which happened literally 2 days ago. £30 fix for that.
Iv had my corsa vxr for ages its got 100k and still drives good, gearbox is fine and so far the engine 🤞
Defo need at least stage 1 though as torque wasnt great
Anything with a Vauxhall badge on is not worth buying, nothing good to say about any of the range.
- a vehicle technician from Vauxhall
Nice brake calipers not so great cars people i know that had corsa,s had nothing but trouble with them i would avoid them .
Same here. Not trying to put down corsa owners. About 3 people I know with corsas had headgasket problems. My sister had a corsa D 1.2 and I noticed the power wasn't all there. Even on the day the seller was coming to pick up the car it was starting, the starter motor wasn't engaging the engine. Luckily dad fixed that so the new owner was happy
what are all of the corsa VXR drivers going to do now that their girlfriends have went back to school lol
my brother has one of Opel corsa opc
Only time in 29 years of driving that a car has let me down... avoid.
Just take a forged one and enjoy it ! Make it 250hp is a great amount of power for this car!! But it need a lot of fuel !! Its a turbo sport car ! It makes sense is a ibiza cupra 20vt cheaper to run ? Make me know comment below
I have a 1.8t ibiza and I can get 400 miles to my tank with careful driving also I've owned both and I can say the ibiza is better that the vxr
@@ethanj948 400 miles ?? omg !! this is good !! i just want one of them like crazy ! its fun cars and beautifull both
Jamie not just vxr like to eat there own gear box any corsa d likes the taste of there gear box aswell my 1.3 sxi has started to to go aswell
its my dream car vxr opc
Test drove 2 of these they pull nice when on boost but the throttle response is very very bad , shocking . And if your over 5ft11’ then look elsewhere
do a stock mk7 fiesta st
Awesomeness brother 🙌👑🌈💗
Vxr's are alright for young people where mummy and daddy pays their finance and insurance for one
All good until u get smoked by every other hatchback just get a s1 I own a s1 at 18 with 1200 insurance no box
Iv got one, best advice, don't get one, stage 2 (230bhp) and iv gone through 2 engines, a mate has a 300bhp fully forged and even his blow 🤷♂️ these engines are made out of chocolate 🤦♂️
I see everyone moaning about his insurance quotes but he did say its subject to where you live. I'm 25, live in Birmingham, 3 years ncb and 7 years driving and its £800 for mine. It really depends on where you live and your claim history tbh so don't moan at the lad lol.
Apparently when comes to him it don't matter what car it is there cheap for #young drivers 🙄
buy an unmodified example and appreciate it for what it is.
There is a Difference in prices with the vxrs
Do some research mate you have no idea what your talking about, like £5000 insurance
Plus I don’t think parents are going to have 6-10 thousand pounds to buy this beauty
I live in Birmingham. Two reasons why i wouldn't 'corsa cannibals '
Insurance is high on VXR & the fuel economy is awful plus 4 piston going is a common issue. Bad advice really.
He hasn’t a jar of glue what he’s on about #spacka
I had a arctic edition corsa vxr got to say one of the least reliable car I’ve ever had
Gearbox is wank
Engine is super wank hi P4 :)
Goes through tyres like anything.
Goes through front shocks like anything
Such a shame as the cars look great and those recaros are beautiful
Great car made by the wrong company.👍🏻
Just buy a ep3
That’s gonna be like 5k insurance for a young driver, if you want something that’s the same as this but low insurance / low bhp get a corsa limited edition (legit a vxr with a less powerful engine)
Lol most 18 year olds can insure these for less than a grand. More to the point is nobody wants a vxr in the first place
@@360FAMOUZ360 no you can’t at 18 the insurance is around 2-3k
@@ihyyhyyi4663 I could of insured one of these at 18 for £600. Not everyone lives in slums most of insurance depends on your postcode. Its not rocket science
@@360FAMOUZ360 I live in a very posh area with hardly any crime
i’m 19 and it’s 11k to insure a vxr😂😂😂
Sorry but Astra gtc 1.6 turbo edition 180 bhp more fun in my eyes 👀
Hi remember in the 90s. Had corsa gsi. Reckon it wuld of smoked this thing. Lol
Thing is there very very expensive and I bet the insurance is through the roof
Someone lived off mummy and daddys money at 19 🤣🤣🤣
To me it's always just a corsa
Why young drivers shouldnt buy one
Piston 4 rod and or piston failure is a pretty good reason to leave these pieces of shit alone
gary gluebag thats you but what about the others
Thats a fitting name you have.
@gary gluebag nah it with throw a rod before you get there
aha only been driving for 2 years have 0 ncb and I am 23 but got my self a BMW 320D 177bp E91 touring for less then 5k ... think I know what car I would get XD
Ye would take a vxr over that any day but each his own
Eydiat
Have you seen the white socks bruv.......lol.....or is this now in fashion??????
Lol first I need a job and I turn 17 next month
VXR for a 19 year old? What are you smoking 🤣
Is this a Nurburgring vxr Corsa 😂😂✌️
get a 1.2 limited edition thy look as good but whit out the insurance
Or the power lmao
THE slowest car I've ever driven lol. Handle well though 😂
And anyone with any knowledge on these cars will know the engines are dog shit!
Too much insurance.
