This to me is one of the best songs of that era, and I don’t know why it isn’t more popular. I remember it from the first time I heard it and love it every time since.
This is also one of my favorite songs in the world. When I was a kid I totally ripped off the ..... I dunno.... The " E" thing from him and a few other guys. I totally built my style around this. If you could say I even have a style that is. If I did ( I try) it drips with this stuff.
there are many where Fingers Felder ramps it up.. When I play drums to One of these Nights, I get tingles when Fingers rips his solo in that tune, he notches up the inspiration to play your best
This song, as well as Felder's song "All Of You" are two of the greatest contributions to music of all time. Interesting that both ended up as soundtrack in the same awesome movie.
I'm 27... butI feel like I grew up a decade earlier. I lived the 80s 20 years later lol. All you fellas who were in the heat of the night in the 80s I salute you.
Don Felder wanted to sing lead on Victim of Love but Frey and Henley would not let him. Said he was a guitarist not a singer. He sounds pretty good to me.
+Les Mach I love Felder and think he got a TOTAL raw deal from the Eagles...but there is no way you can tell me that song would've been better with him singing on it than Henley. This tune, however, is fantastic as is, and I'm glad the Eagles rejected it and didn't get their fingers all over it and water it down so it could become an excellent hard-rocking track (which unfortunately didn't really get its due).
+Les Mach That is half true the real truth is you use your strengths and when you have Don Henley as Glen explained you use your strengths. David Geffen called Henley "Golden Throat" which is apt.
+motorboat5150 How did Felder get a raw deal. He is worth $60 millions from his years with the Eagles. He was a down and out musician before the Eagles asked him to join. His ego is what got him fired from the band. Felder only screwed himself and made it worse by trying to sue.
+dave Ballapico He got a raw deal because they kicked him out of the band, that's why. Clearly he still wants to be there, you can tell that by the tears he shed in the documentary.I don't think his ego is what got him fired, it was his demand for equity. He should've kept his mouth shut and realized that making half of what Henley and Frey were making was still a damn good deal.
One thing I've noticed about Felder. No matter what he plays, he outputs excellent tone. I'm telling you, it's all about the fingers who's playing folks!!
This song and guitar solo is the very reason I decided to become a guitar player all those years ago. The way his leads soar are incredibly inspiring even today
They should be ... it’s auto tuned to the max ... Don sounds like a robot singing ! Everybody uses it now unfortunately which kinda spoils it for me . On a positive note saw the Eagles in 1976 at new Bingley Hall Stafford in the UK and Don has always been a class act.
austin angler Actually, Don Henley and Timothy B Schmit contributed the backing vocals on that song so it's kinda like the Eagles recorded it. Minus whatever Walsh's guitar contribution would've been which, I'm sure, would have been awesome. Who cares what stuck up Glen Frey's part would have been.
Don Felders song heavy metal is 1 of the best sounding song iv ever heard. It's also relaxing. I hope you see my comments Mr Felder. I love this song of yurs,it's my fav. I was also my late dogs fav too, she loved hearing it. She'd wag her tail when I'd say whos that, is that Don Felder take a ride? I miss her.
Thanks Don for this vid , , Fingers never fails to put a smile on this old mans face , There is no replacement for Felder , his playing will never die and frey said he couldnt sing , there is life after the Beagles
Underated lead player, hes really really good, always hits the perfect notes and licks without needing flash, gets it done without it which is rare, great vibrato, great player
Such a powerful and timeless song. Complimenting one of the greatest animated movies of all time (imo). Even after all these years he's still killin' it live.
The guy that's in the henley eagles trying to cop Felder's licks does a fair job, but he AIN'T Felder lol! And besides, without Felder, there would be no hotel California.
Always loved "fingers" Felder's guitar and it appears his voice is much better than Henley and Frey allowed. As they were both average musicians, maybe they couldn't allow other members of the band to outshine them.
Jonathan Gee I agree that they screwed up by firing him. It's my opinion that the eagles were made by felder and walsh, but it was the eagles that allowed felder to shine.
Jonathan Gee Well the last laugh is on them. Unlike the members who quit and gave up their share in Eagles LLC Inc., he was fired, but you cannot remove his share in the Eagles forcefully. They can only prevent him from participating in songwriting, recording and live performing. So he still makes cash from anything the Eagles do as he is technically still a band member.

the movie actually sucked if you ask me.
@@DonaldKoller Though the movie did suck, thank GOD 4 the soundtrack (especially w/Felder & Hagar).
The movie was just OK. The soundtrack was a monster. All of You is my favorite Felder song.
Hard to believe this song was left on the cutting room floor during the Long Run sessions. Resurrected a couple of years later for the film.

It was a different yet unfinished song from that time, but he reworked it into Heavy Metal when asked to contribute to the film
