      This is also one of my favorite songs in the world. When I was a kid I totally ripped off the ..... I dunno.... The " E" thing from him and a few other guys. I totally built my style around this. If you could say I even have a style that is. If I did ( I try) it drips with this stuff.

    Don Felder wanted to sing lead on Victim of Love but Frey and Henley would not let him. Said he was a guitarist not a singer. He sounds pretty good to me.

    • @birddogger5150
      @birddogger5150 8 років тому +8

      +Les Mach I love Felder and think he got a TOTAL raw deal from the Eagles...but there is no way you can tell me that song would've been better with him singing on it than Henley.
      This tune, however, is fantastic as is, and I'm glad the Eagles rejected it and didn't get their fingers all over it and water it down so it could become an excellent hard-rocking track (which unfortunately didn't really get its due).

    • @daveballapico7875
      @daveballapico7875 8 років тому +1

      +Les Mach
      That is half true the real truth is you use your strengths and when you have Don Henley as Glen explained you use your strengths. David Geffen called Henley "Golden Throat" which is apt.

    • @daveballapico7875
      @daveballapico7875 8 років тому +1

      +motorboat5150
      How did Felder get a raw deal. He is worth $60 millions from his years with the Eagles.
      He was a down and out musician before the Eagles asked him to join. His ego is what got him fired from the band. Felder only screwed himself and made it worse by trying to sue.

    • @birddogger5150
      @birddogger5150 8 років тому +5

      +dave Ballapico He got a raw deal because they kicked him out of the band, that's why. Clearly he still wants to be there, you can tell that by the tears he shed in the documentary.I don't think his ego is what got him fired, it was his demand for equity. He should've kept his mouth shut and realized that making half of what Henley and Frey were making was still a damn good deal.

      Jonathan Gee Well the last laugh is on them. Unlike the members who quit and gave up their share in Eagles LLC Inc., he was fired, but you cannot remove his share in the Eagles forcefully. They can only prevent him from participating in songwriting, recording and live performing. So he still makes cash from anything the Eagles do as he is technically still a band member.

    They should have let him sing "those shoes" which he wrote, with the Eagles. His voice is not bad at all.

      +Barbara Gregory there is a lot of good rock and roll out there. Back when this was written it was considered Heavy metal but it's mild by today's standards.

      this song came out in 1981 it was somewere between heavy metal and hard rock, for its time it probably was considered a slow metal/rock song like check out saxons early stuff good example to compare this to

    Brisk early morning , hot coffee in hand . BOSS 302 warms up in the driveway. Your road trip is ahead of you as you slip the disk in the player and this is the first song you hear.

    Like just about everyone here, I love this song and love the movie. I had a copy on VHS for years (bootlegged of course) until it was either recorded over or stolen. The irony now is when I listen to this it is SOOOO far from being "heavy metal". As I mentioned, good movie, great soundtrack, all awesome!
