I'm an Axelsen fan but LEI Lan Xi deserved this win
Axelsen kept giving him tough shots on the 3rd set, but LEI's physical endurance was able to match them (though Axelsen was impatient on the 1st half of the 3rd set)

After a lot of time, someone who really knows the weakness of Viktor - bring him to the front and engage more in flat exchanges without letting him smash. It's easy to say but extremely difficult to execute. But the Chinese man did it so efficiently. Hope he wins this tournament.

Axelsen made many powerful smashes, but he returned them at unexpected angles, causing Axelsen to become tense and even miss some shots. This level of play is quite rare and seems to stem from his reflexive responses.

At time 0:17 to 0:20, Viktor was swinging his racquet & shuttle set from left to right to left to right repeatedly. The umpire faulted him for delaying.
      Delay is true.
But in my view, there is a MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM here than just the unnecessary delay.
Viktor has this habit of swinging his racquet & shuttle from side to side multiple times and making his opponent guess for quite long when the shuttle will actually start coming across the net, before he decides to hit the shuttle forwards.
I think this habit is unfair to his opponents, and that BWF should ban/prohibit such acts.
If i were his opponent, i will halt the game and tell the umpire to please ask Viktor NOT TO SWING HIS RACQUET & SHUTTLE SET side ways left to right repeatedly before serving.
Swinging his racquet and shuttle set sideways repeatedly, is NOT SERVING.
Hitting the shuttle forth across the net is.
Shifting his racquet & shuttle set sideways repeatedly is DISTRACTING, which i think many will agree with me and which technical explanation i will expound further below.
If server is not yet ready to serve, or he has not yet made up his mind which direction he wants to serve, then stop the game and signal that he is not ready. Only when he is ready, then only serve ...and please serve across the net WITHOUT FURTHER ADO or engaging in acts which are other than sending the shuttle over the net.
Before serving, he may rightly pause and take reasonable moments to decide which direction he wishes to serve towards, but once he takes up shuttle & racquet, he should just serve with ONE Single MOTION.
He may flick or cut or slice the shuttle whichever way he wishes under BWF rules, but it should be a single motion, as soon as his racquet is paired with shuttle, and not to be preceded by other racquet motions which do not send the shuttle over the net.
      The TECHNICALS:
The natural justice for an opponent receiving the shuttle serve is that he/she should be given the chance to fairly anticipate WHEN (the moment) the serve and game has actually started. Opponent should not have to keep eyeing the shuttle being moved sideways (like some hypnotism going on) unknown number of times, be distracted by the sideways movements and left guessing WHEN the serve will actually start or has suddenly started (at which moment of the sideways swing), as the server can suddenly flick the shuttle to serve forth at any unknown moment during his sideways act, surprising his opponent.
This is not fair to your opponent to keep them waiting, and guessing the exact moment of serve, as every 0.1second in badminton counts.
A badminton serve is supposed to be a single stroke going FORTH.
Moving the serving apparatuses sideways from LEFT TO RIGHT TO LEFT TO RIGHT AGAIN & AGAIN ....is NOT SERVING.
Instead, it is DISTRACTING your opponent from the actual game, as opponent is now loaded with an extra burden of guessing when the server is actually going to start the game. This is UNFAIR to the opponent, whether the server realizes this or not.
My personal belief (and i think this is a logical argument) is that ONCE YOU START ANY MOTION WITH YOUR RACQUET, YOU ARE DEEMED TO HAVE STARTED THE SERVE, and you should just follow through with the racquet motion resulting in the shuttle moving forth towards your opponent.
Once you start ANY MOTION with your racquet, your only act should be getting the shuttle moving across, and NOT BE HOLDING UP THE SERVE (example: by moving the shuttle sideways, repeatedly and still not serving it forth).
This way, your oppoent is given fair expectation and anticipation that the shuttle is now coming across to him/her at his side of the court.
Serving should not be a game of waiting and anticipating tricks from the server. As with most sports, we win by skills, experience, fitness, mental strength etc but not by distraction and unfair surprises to our opponent.
This rule should apply generally to all racquet or bat games where the racquet or bat can be FLICKED upon the shuttle or ball suddenly.
This is unlike table tennis, where sideways motion prior to serving the ball may be acceptable, because in table tennis, you drop/throw the ball first and you normally never flick-serve the ball suddenly but spin/cut/slice it. This way, your opponent has time to anticipate the moment the ball game has started going.
If people understand or agree with what i am saying, kindly share your thoughts - comments welcome.
I urge BWF to please look into this issue, and decide if such acts should be prohibited.
And if Mr.Axelsen is reading this, kindly assess. It will benefit you too - to avoid losing precious points.
You are nonetheless a great player, one of the best in your era. Well done. 👍

We win badminton by skills, experience, fitness, mental strength etc but not by distraction and unfair surprises to our opponent.
