- In this video, I test 3 of the best distance track spikes heading into the 2024 track season. I recognize that I may be missing some other GREAT track spikes, these are just a few. I'm racing a track 10k in just a few days, so this is a REAL test for myself to pick my favorite. I hope you enjoy, and find this useful!
Man those Asics Metaspeeds are sitting there on Running warehouse for $70 with one left in my size. The urge to buy a spike I don’t need is strong
Haha I’ve been there all too frequently 😅
Bro ₹70?? 😳😳😳😳
the metaspeed ld feels extremeley fast in the 1600m for me. the carbon plate is the snappiest, most stiff I've ever used, and it forces me to run. No spike plate is just more convenient since i don't have to screw spikes on and off for track meets. I definitely prefer this over the avanti tyo. Though I've never tried the dragonfly.
My personal opinion. I have all 3 as well
1. Dragonfly
2. Metaspeed sky LD
3. Adidas TYO
Can’t argue with the dragonfly. I’ll probably choose those for anything shorter than 10k tbh
Good luck bro 🙏🏼
D1 tm8 encourager 🥶
I have questions: Nike dragonfly spikes size is true size with shoes?
For example I have nike rival distance , the size of rival is small . My running spikes from adidas is 8US 26cm. There is no free spaces. It is right size. Soo which size I will be buy from dragon fly? 8.US or 8.5US
I appreciate the work that went into swapping all of these shoes during a workout. And on a windy day no less!
I had to do it, I really wanted a good comparison! Plus I appreciated the extra rest time;)
Are you gonna watch the mens paris 10k race while you’re there
Wouldn’t miss it! That’s half the reason I wanted to race at this meet 😅
Exactly the same thoughts on the Avanti. Raced a 800 with it and got massive blisters after that. When running through the curves I can clearly feel the rods under my feets that rubs heavily against my skin🤒
i do my track 10ks in vaporflies and my shorter events in dragonflies🙏 also good luck on your 10k🔥 also also the longer hair is a look for you👍
How does the Adidas Adizero Ambition compare to this. Its dificult to understand the difference betweem some of these shoes and the brands dont provide much help in that.
I’m actually not familiar with the ambition :/
Where’s the link to buy these shoes?!
Hi! I'm a new in running (5/10km) (3-5days a week) I'm planning to buy a new running shoes, here's the list of my choices hope can you help me to decide
1. Nova blast 4
2. New Balance Rebel V4
3. Nike Pegasus 41
My favorite is the Novablast 4 on this list. But all are great choices!

My personal opinions on track spikes:
On 10ks
Nike Dragonfly
On 1500
Adidas Avanti TYO
Nike Victory
New Balance MD-X or LD-X
2 more days!
Keep up the work man! Great video!
Appreciate it!
I’m a distance runner but from what I’ve heard is that the dragonfly is pretty good . I run track but I’m not the top runner I’m more of a middle of the pack runner and so I’ll probably get the alternative which is the Nike rivals.
Adidas finesse for 4 and 8 , is it fine ?
there is a new asics long distance spikes, its called cosmoracer ld 3
Great review! How would the Asics shoe do in grass for XC? I also bought a pair for $49 on Amazon
The cushion on the ASICS would be great, but I'm not so sure about the spikeless plate. If it's dry grass / gravel, I think they would do well, but any mud these won't dig as well as some nice 1/2" spikes
Please could you do a video on how to run intervals similar to your video on threshold run
At some point I plan to! Idk when though
What’s your height and weight?
5’11”, around 150 lb
What’s the best for 5k boss man?
All good options, I ended up going with Nike Dragonfly for 5k.
Question, can you wear spikes on the dirt or would it ruin the spikes?
I’m sure it wears them down a lot faster, I wouldn’t say it immediately ruins them. Spikes are really effective on dirt, so I think it’s worth it. So depends on how long you need a pair to last
Also keep in mind the general rule of spikes. You can use XC spikes for track, but not track spikes for xc. This is because the track spikes don’t give as much support, and aren’t fit for the alternative terrain. Especially in dirt/grass.
Can you wear the asic for cross?
You definitely could. On some courses it would be great, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a wet day on grass. You’d want some long spikes for traction!
