I'll just reply to myself since my kindle won't let me edit. It was a knife that was thrown at me when I was vacationing. He was apparently on drugs at the time. It got me in the arm and hurt like hell. I never did find him, though.

Hör mir auf. Total an die Wand gefahren. Dafür hat unsere Grundschule jetzt den """Service""" das man seine Kinder von 8.00 Uhr bis 18.00 Uhr abgeben kann.
Wozu dann überhaupt Kinder haben?
Und dann lernen Sie nicht mal was über Volksgut und Kulturgüter sondern das andere Kulturen ja viiiiiel besser wären....

Ja damit auch die Mutter ganztags in die Lohnsklaverei gehen können...Quo vadis wetsliche Welt?
Nur ein wirtschaftliches Unheil ungeheueren Ausmaßes wird die Menschen wieder zum Umdenken bringen. In der Zwischenzeit, mit Spiel und Klang in den Untergang!
Eine Ursache der niedrigen Geburtenrate ist doch auch, dass Menschen Beruf und Familie nicht vereinbart kriegen. Deswegen sollte solche Angebote doch eigentlich begrüßt werden, wenn sie dazu führen, dass ehrgeizige Frauen wieder mehr Kinder trotz Beruf bekommen können.

I love Landesknecht songs :) it is somehow little sad these songs were composed couple centuries later after them, but I guess that is the romantic period which was also great for Europe in general. I wish I could have lived in either time!
There are a few from the actual period.
If I remember correctly "Unser liebe Fraue (vom kalten Bronnen)" is from the time the Landsknechte were arround.
the landsknechts seems to be as much of a philosophy as a mercenary class

@@weldorn "Wer war es, der den lorbeer brach" is an original one from the early 16th century. Its one of the few that is conserved with the original text as well as melody. The Botho-Lukas Chor has an excellent version on it.
The rest of the songs people commented are also original.

Als österreichischer Soldat durfte ich dieses Lied lernen, ich kanns heute noch! Meinen Dank gilt Ostv Bernar der uns jungen dieses schöne Lied, im 86er Jahr gelehrt hat!
Auch Anno 2009 durften wir beim JgB 12 singen. Erst im Nachhinein habe ich meine Liebe zu diesen Liedern gefunden. Die Nostalgie is a Hund !

One of my FAVOURITE Landsknechts Songs.
Makes me want to get into my Landsknechts Outfit, grab my Dagger, Katzbalger and Pike and play the defense of Vienna in 1529.
That was a bit later, 154 year later.
But still, when they arrived Kara Mustapha and his minions from the deepest Hell got their just rewards.
In 1529 a Early Winter arrived, also just in time.
Who can keep up with the amount of Islamic Aggression against Europe for the last 1400 Years?
I was just Thinking, in 1529 the West was saved by the "Little Ice-age" and if we're "lucky" the next one is just around the corner.
We'll see this coming Winter if they, Farmers Almanac, are right, especially the coming February is supposed to be Brutally Cold.

Sounds like a tribute to the everyday life of the soldiers in the field. They needed to express their experiences in rememberance.

Are these older German songs in an older german dialect, like middle english to english?
Only a few words, it´s already High German, but from a time where the rules weren´t set yet and some words had dialectal influences.

I'm 99% sure that picture was made by the late,great, Angus McBride. Or at least he has left his mark on uniform studies by influencing others.
The UK/GB had no Landsknechts or colourfull uniforms at that time. The English had their red unform the Scots have worn what they had and was suitable for combat. The colorfull suits emerged during the German 30th years war as the Landsknechts raided some cities and decorated their uniforms with at that time very expensive colourfull pieces of textile farbric. Colourfull fabric was at that very expensive as the inking needed expensive ingredients. Therefore they had colorfull patched wear as a full roll of coloroured fabric was rare.

Lustig wie es immer einige Leute gibt die sagen, Barette sähen nicht Deutsch aus und deswegen sollte die Bundeswehr es abschaffen.
PS: Ich habe übrigens neulich unter einem Amerikanischem Video einen Kommentar gesehen, in dem gefordert wurde die US Army sollte das Barett ersetzen, da es zu europäisch aussehe.
Naja es kam irgendwann aus der Mode bei uns, wobei es mich jetzt nicht soooo sehr stört, aber für Paraden könnte man schon noch die Pickelhaube oder den Stahlhelm aufziehen, ähnlich wie in Schweden oder England.
Das Barrett das die BuWe heute trägt hat nix mit dem Landknecht Barett zu tun (siehe Schweizer Garde). Der Herr Doktor hat hier recht. Stahlhelm, Tschako, Tellermütze oder Schiffchen...
