Nothing wrong with entry-level jobs. These jobs are for serious people who are unafraid of a little responsibility and are willing to keep their noses clean. I know too many people who are stuck in low income jobs because they can't seem to quit their drug habits. Computer programming seems to be the out for those guys employers don't seem to care in the tech industry.

I'm a garbage truck driver. I'm 20 and I'm starting out at 24 dollars per hr. So anyone who needs works or better pay and good benefits, find a way to get a cdl and get a local job. There a many jobs that don't require experience. Most garbage companies don't care about tractor trailer experience neither.
No such thing as air brake endorsement. You need to not have an air brake restriction. As long as you test out in an air brake equipped truck you’ll be covered

Republic Services top off way higher than that, especially in California. Republic Services start off at $31 at a lot of places in California it's just not easy for a lot of people to get hired.
I'm about to go get my class B CDL license...I'm NOT interested in driving semis or cranes or any of those larger vehicles... class B is what I want...I'm interested in garbage trucks or busses or 23ft box trucks... 🤔 I hear to get a class B is about $2500 - $3000 depending on where you go.
It's better to get your class A license and only drive class B vehicle. It will save you a lot of time, money, and have future options. Busses and garbage trucks are considered large vehicles. Once you get used to driving them, it becomes easier.
They make good money with OT. I know you can make 13-1400 a week after taxes. I have a buddy who works there and showed me his stubs. It’s a hidden gem as far as jobs go.

No one really wants to go into the trades now (companies know, the subaru dealership's have a program to provide up $10,000 worth of tools to new apprentices) as we are all taught to peruse higher education why go do hard labour when you went through w.e university/college to get your degree/diploma/certification. We got 3 mechanics at my dealership with degrees in totally different fields. Imaginr getting degree just to end up in hard back braking labour job.

I drive a truck for a small family owned garbage company and I get decent benefitsand. we actually get subcontracted out to do a lot of republics garbage I my area. Also top pay for our smaller company is more than top pay for republic. Also have to think about when working for a company of that size you’re just some other random. Prefer smaller companies feel more like a human being taking pride at work instead of just another hamster spinning the wheel for a multi million dollar company.

You can get a CDL license from a few states with a EAD and being from Mexico. California does let you get one.

You can move to roll-off in the garbage industry and it pays more than that position. No holidays off though
