  • In the opening chapters of Romans, Paul looked at the world's righteousness and his own righteousness next to God's righteousness-and he despaired. But in chapter 8, he looked to Jesus and the righteousness He freely gives-and Paul rejoiced. In this study, Skip Heitzig explains why Romans 8:28 is a great place for weary and anxious hearts to rest as he shares the life-changing truth that God is working together all the circumstances in your life for good.
This teaching is from the series 45 Romans - 2021 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

The key to understanding Romans 8: 29-30 is of course, context.
The context is in the same chapter in verses 17-25.
What Paul is talking about is the future of the already born again believer, that of future glory, not someone being predestined to get saved.
Calvinism and context don't go together.

    Chose us for what???
Chosen or predestination is never for salvation specifically. It is chosen “in Him” - all who respond in faith are chosen.

Now that I'm old at 76, everything bothers me. I think I must be a hypochondriac. It feels like multiple chemical sensitivity environmental disorder (MCSEI). Coughing and gasping for air and burping and all that gas in my gut. It's difficult for me to be joyful. Always wanted to go to Bible college and study the Word. But when I apply they tell I'm too old. So Holy Spirit said I don't need any man to teach me. And the Word is very strong to sustain my life cause I'm so weak.

Thank you Pastor Skip Heitzig for being my Bible college in the Spirit. I would never understand Romans but for you and Derek Prince. Praise to the Father of the Lord Yeshua and my Father through him.
