Box top as you called it is called Pelmet .. no to pelmets they were an 80's thing.. Floor to ceiling with rod and awave of fabric over top 😂@@ChateauDeMontmagner
That was fun! We have a host of Thrift stores of all kinds here in the States, but how I wish we had the size of yours! Also you have the history and craftsmanship that's amazing! Thanks for taking us along, looking forward yo seeing what you've done!
I work in Made to Measure dept. of a popular UK store and I have recently been to our Manufacturing centre for training. I think what you call box, most would call a pelmet and can be flat or box style. I think pelmets are neater and swags and tails often are just huge dust collectors!! Good luck with your projects xx
I like the boxed look. It matches the rest of the chateau. It could be made out of wood with some decorative touches in gold to match what you put on the fire place. So fun looking at all that furniture with you at your local Brocante. M Tucson Az
Re the curtains... I recently seen a wooden board, beautifully carved/shaped and stained as a pelmit above a window. Maybe the barn could yield a nice bit of wood again and Ted could work his wonderful magic. 🥰
Whatever you make - a pelmet or swag - will be gorgeous as always. I love art, but never watched an artist like you. I'm grateful how you brilliantly explain your process. Us Americans are grateful for anyone out in the civilized world who doesn't curse at us these terrible days.
The candle sticks with the clock were perfect. Too bad they were too expensive. Yes, that place had so many beautiful items there. The lounge and chair were definitely you. I loved everything in the, except the modern candlesticks!😂 I think what you decide to put up over the window will be lovely. Maybe use the wallpaper design if any is left. Best wishes always. ❤❤❤
Have my grandmothers Singer sewing maching. Gt grandma had a tredl model. I worked at Oldway Mansion (changed by Paris Singer to resemble Versailles) built by his father Issac M Singer in South Devon. (My office was Isadora Duncans bedroom, mistress of Paris)
I think the fire casting would have perhaps of distorted/ flaked the goldleaf when it is hot🤔. It looks fabulous though Lesa. Sending you both everything good n happy. 🎉❤🎉.
I ❤ going shopping with you, hard to deside on draperies, I loved the box look, cant quite grasp the size of the window, but maybe just a valance on the outside, and the draperies inside closer to the window with tie backs. I know that you will make the perfect choice.
I agree...the gilding turned out nicely - the gold leaf would have been too much! Sadly - half the US is likely looking for another country to move too, and the other half...well there is nothing you can really say about them, just shake your head and shrug because they are incomprehensible.
As I understand curtains in France do not have anything on top. 🤷♀️ I actually like the candelabra pair, just as is, no bling needed, especially if they are made of pewter. Not too modern at all! With tall candles they’d be taller.
Hey there Hope you are both well, cannot believe you are leaving the Chateau but I am sure that you will move on to something equally fantastic if a bit more manageable. Are you planning on staying in the area? I must try to pop in before you leave. Stay well x
The fireplace is looking great. For the window, I think I'd go with a pelmet rather than a swag. The window looks a bit small for a swag; it might be overwhelmed.
Nice job on the stove Lesa! I think swags are too Renaissance, and think boxes or even just a plain rod with curtains would be more Medieval. But of course your chateau survived both those periods, so whatever you decide will be fine!
That's why it's always best to stay away from politics, everyone has their own opinions, but hopefully people respect that it is everyones right to their own opinions. I certainly respect that we all differ in minds but that wouldn't stop me being friends with someone just because they see life in another way. I hope that makes sense. Someone once said to me, if we were all the same, the world would be a boring place, I think it's a good way of putting it 😁
To ne truthful I dont think you need anything on the curtains Lesa keep it simple. That chaise longue would have been ideal in that room and would have matched all the decor colours you have 😘
I think box or swag would look good on the window. It’s a difficult choice as keeping the box design would keep the consistency of design throughout the apartments, but swag would give you an opportunity to learn a new skill.
I would have just a carved curtain rail made or bought with ornate closures no pelmet do something easier and less work and simply the room let the rest of it show it's beauty. Maybe a stencil design on the beams the part facing down so when you look up you can see a slight design have seen it at older properties is lovely.
Have you found a way to carry on at your home yet. ?? I do react to vloggers who forget to go slowly around the places.lol. and I think the word is Pelmets. I personally love em as great draft proofers Made of wood or fabric ar combination of both. Swags usually are att ached to pelmets. XX And DONT overdo the fire !! am assuming Its just a showpiece, ?? I keep saying to me Daughter who is an artist to stop meddling. heehee
I think swag would be better. It wouldn’t look a little little bit more feminine instead of the box but I think it would have to do a lot with the fabric, the look of the fabric the pattern
Windows - no draping. Do your regular thing. You are going to have enough complicated stuff in the room and it will not need more. Great as it will be without swaggering.
Can't wait for the dressing of the room❤
Lovely job on that fire place, it’s always amazing to see the difference a small detail can make to an item.
Definitely!

I love the paste you used, looks great😊
Thank you 😋
Ah you must be quite close to us! we love Herve’s. Can’t wait to get back in the summer! All looks lovely lovely xx

As long as the swags don't block out too much light x
I agree with you as the window looks too small for swags.
I'm tossed on the window dressing, because they open in. I think the lounger and chair you loved would look incredible in that room!!!
That looks like a huge brocante. And full of interesting stuff.
Re the curtains... I recently seen a wooden board, beautifully carved/shaped and stained as a pelmit above a window. Maybe the barn could yield a nice bit of wood again and Ted could work his wonderful magic. 🥰
That fire looks pure Class with the burnished effect you created Leesa 👌 Works beautifully with the surround you created 💕
Happy to have found you. Hope you will soldier on!❤🍀🍍
The attention to detail is a credit to you.
I think you need a bigger window for swags i feel that a box pelmet would be better but whatever you choose it’ll be done beautifully!
I agree that the paste seems more appropriate for a fireplace.
That fireplace looks so good
Good luck America.
We are no longer going to be America…. Likely annexed into Russia now.
Lesa, I was joking when I said that I was car sick! JOKING! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 😅
Close to 20 K subscribers now.... just 107 more subscribers to reach that milestone... Here is hoping it happens sooner than later.
Not any more, gone back to 19848, amazing, we must be the only channel that puts out content and loses subscribers
Very charming vlog. Good luck for your coming projects. Greetings from Switzerland ❤
Thank you so much!

Pelmet is the word your looking for i believe not box top 😊😊
Yes! Thank you!
The paste on the Fire was the correct way to go looks Amazing good job 🤗👍 a pellet in Ted designed wood 🤔🍾🍷🍷🌹🌹🌹
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Thanks 👍

Hi Lesa,Ted, loving Troc, bought a lot of items from Troc in Limoges
❤ lots of good stuff at the brocant just have to find it 😂
Best wishes to you
Shared on FB.. ♥️ keep on, keeping on guys. ❤
Oh I forgot the curtains...hard to say without seeing them up but I think the pelmets give an upgraded look.
I like the paste gold. Other seems to bright.
Absolutely!! I am also wondering how the heat from the stove would react with the gold leaf.
A pamphlet is probably best
Oh look a wardrobe for a GIANT

The single glass cabinet can become a wardrobe.. with glass a curtain and lining in velvet 😅
I like your swag idea for the window
A swag shape for the curtains would look great.
It would be hard to stay on track in a shop like that! So many wonderful things to see! ❤
I think the fire casting would have perhaps of distorted/ flaked the goldleaf when it is hot🤔. It looks fabulous though Lesa. Sending you both everything good n happy. 🎉❤🎉.
Gorgeous fire place ❤
Remember some things you buy now you can take with you.
No worries, not only is everything ok, but it’s great. God bless the USA
Completely agree!
I do like the paste for this job. Gold-leaf can be use in some other project.
The brocante looked familiar!! They had a lot of new items in since you took me there! Ted is still eying that huge armoire. I miss you two!
Melodyyyyyyyyy
Oil burners, definitely, but try to get a pair that match.
Fireplace looks Great! I would do swans, the norm in France! Good video! Well done
Thank you!
Box header.Greetings from the Netherlands. 🇳🇱🤗❤
Good to see you! Could not be happier!
I just love that fireplace
Great furniture and decor items,if u could even find things like that here in the U.S. ,would be ten times the price at least.
Fireplace looks really lovely 😊

Personally I'd have a box pelmet, something simple if you want the focus to be the fireplace, just have one focal feature. : )
Swags will.look fabulous ❤
Love the fireplace ❤
Love the box tops but maybe have a swag for a change whatever you do it will look fabulous ❤
Great going.
Always fun shopping at a Brocante.
So many beautiful things. I wish we had them in the U S.
Pelmet or swag either will look great x
I agree...the gilding turned out nicely - the gold leaf would have been too much!
Sadly - half the US is likely looking for another country to move too, and the other half...well there is nothing you can really say about them, just shake your head and shrug because they are incomprehensible.
Someone said he is the best man for the job . It’s like getting plumber to do open heart surgery . 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Trump definitely is the ONLY one who can save USA with the help of the honest people chosen already for critical positions. ❤
I like a pelmet myself xxxx
That’s a big brocante to lose yourself in 😊
It certainly is 😁👍
Thanks for the shout out, every little bit helps? @everyone,like and let ads run.
It aint over till the fat lady sings.
Absolutely 👍
Perfect with the paste, would have been to blingy with the gold leaf
Agree 👍
Obhhh what a tease!!!!!! Wonder what you bought?
As I understand curtains in France do not have anything on top. 🤷♀️

Don't want to assume your statement, regarding Our president elect.... Was really enjoying your channel...

Blackout curtains
That's the word I was looking for!
To ne truthful I dont think you need anything on the curtains Lesa keep it simple. That chaise longue would have been ideal in that room and would have matched all the decor colours you have 😘
I totally agree!
Fireplace looking nice, I think swans would look nicer than a permit x
Sara from Manor and Maker would love the sewing machine. Can you show what the curtains look like? Or did i miss that part?
Not a box top Lisa it's a pelmet
Could do a swag or valance
We are better than alright 😁
😂
❤
I think box or swag would look good on the window. It’s a difficult choice as keeping the box design would keep the consistency of design throughout the apartments, but swag would give you an opportunity to learn a new skill.
I totally agree!
It’s swags for me

👋👍❤️
Box header, to keep in keeping with the building, swags are not in keeping with the age of the château
Comment comment comment comment 🤣
What?? Haha - clever
Typical Charlene. Love it. ❤❤❤.
@@lmdyment 🤣🤣 I’m always here for the algorithms ✌🏻

About the fireplace insert, do you still need to repair the grate? Or will you put a smaller grate on top?
🏰🏰
I think no swag or pelmemt for the curtains. A simple rods would be nice since the window smaller.
Windows - no draping. Do your regular thing. You are going to have enough complicated stuff in the room and it will not need more. Great as it will be without swaggering.
Pelmets !
Open a brocant & fabric shop & Ted could refurbish / repurpose to order.
Brilliant idea!! Or an add-on service for brocanteurs
Oh that would be amazing!
Please don’t sell the chateau, you two are soo made for it to bring it back to life, you can see that you have soo much passion for it xxx
Rhe window is not super large. Why not skip the Valance / Cornice( Box ) and swag and let the curtains be the star?
Love the way you put that 😁👍
I think a rod with the curtains hanging without swags or pelment
🫶🏻🌟👍👏🍀💐
Swags just gather dust in the folds, box is better 👍
Pelmet. It finishes the window.
In the days of yore I understand they did not do and type of "topper'..the English did but not the French...
Swag
