A short distance from the Athens-Corinth National Highway and the Koumoundourou lake in the area of Skaramanga, there are two twin tunnels that were built about 25 years ago, a project that was unfortunately abandoned shortly after its completion.
The tunnels are a very expensive "initiative" with a total cost of 22 million euros for the creation of the Skaramanga Junction. The junction that would connect the Peripheral Egaleo with the Holy Road and would significantly help smooth out traffic leading the area to partial relief.
The tender for the project took place at the end of 1997, however the assignment of the project to Pantechniki was made in early 1999. The technical company undertook the creation of the hub in March of that year instead of 13.46 million euros with implementation set in 2001. costs for expropriations were also calculated in this cost.
However, Pantechniki in April of the same year proposed several modifications for the project. Among these modifications, he proposed to build a twin tunnel through which the Athens-Corinth National Highway will pass, something that was not foreseen in the original notice.In fact, according to the company, the construction would not cover the initial cost, a large part of which would be spent on the expropriations. Despite the looming waste of resources, the then competent directorate of the Ministry of the Environment gave its approval to change the original design and to the tunnels are built, while in a relevant proposal it is stated that in this way the company that had undertaken the project would complete it in an even shorter period of time.
And while the project was progressing and the expropriations had begun with the cost having already far exceeded the initial estimates, a surprise popped up that probably no one expected. One of the houses to be expropriated belonged to a resident, who had a small house above the construction site as well as a 4-acre plot of land.This resident, who was also held responsible for the inability to complete the project because she did not have the title deeds and was one of the owners who was compensated with the amount of 440,000 euros for the house and the four acres she owned in the area . In addition, she did not wish to leave the area and thus resorted to the Council of State, which justified her and did not allow the public to proceed with the expropriation of the 4 acres.
As a result, the works essentially stopped, with Pantechniki meanwhile asking for more money to complete the project, due to the failures that existed in the first study and the changes it had proposed.
The increase in the amount to be paid for the completion of the project (+27.14%) was approved in October 2001, while an extension was also given for the time it would take, until March 2003.
With costs now derailed, Pantechniki was instructed to consider reducing the amount needed for the project. But it required new changes to the study and new expropriations, with the company protesting at the same time about late payments from the State. With a related document, the technical company officially stopped work on the junction and the tunnels in mid-February 2003, with the costs up to that time reaching 22 million euros.
Eight years later, in 2011, light was seen on the tunnel with a new study commissioned by the Attica region, in which the tunnels were once again abandoned by the design that provided for the construction of a triple uneven junction that would connect the Western Regional Aigaleo with Athens and Piraeus at a cost of over 50,000,000 euros.
Characterizing it as a project of national importance last Autumn, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has brought the project back to the fore with its funding to be covered by the NSRF 2021-2027 with the tender to be held by the end of 2022.
The chances of utilizing this great project do not seem to be in the next plans of the state and this is confirmed by the current image of abandonment that one sees with garbage and rubble that have covered their entrances, reminding that time will very hardly turn back.

Πολύ ωραίο ρεπορτάζ. Έκανα και εγγραφή για να σε στηρίξω.
Με μια καλή μελέτη, θα μπορούσαμε να έχουμε ένα αξιόλογο καταφύγιο για το ενδεχόμενο πολέμου, κάτι που η Ελλάδα, παρόλο που περιβάλλεται από εχθρικά κράτη, δεν έχει μπει στη διαδικασία να κατασκευάσει, ενώ χώρες όπως η Ελβετία, έχουν ήδη ολοκληρώσει έναν σημαντικό αριθμό πυρηνικών καταφυγίων.
Και χωραει χιλιαδες κοσμο

Πολύ ωραίο βίντεο Μιχάλη! Μια απορία έχω ,παιρνάω συνέχεια από εκεί και έχω μια απορία, βγαίνει κάπου από την άλλη ή απλά έμεινε εντελώς στη μέση(αν ξέρεις);
Δυστυχώς και οι τρείς σήραγγες ( η μία που βρίσκεται από πάνω) είναι μισές ,για την ακρίβεια το 1/3 της διάνοιξης έχει γίνει.
Δούλευα στην Αττικη Οδό για 14χρόνια. Ηταν ένα απο τα κομμάτια των επεκτάσεών της και μάλιστα στα σχέδια που υπάρχουν στα κεντρικά της (μόνο για εσωτερική ενημέρωση ειναι ) υπάρχουν τα σχέδια που το ''τελείωμά'' της φθάνει στο λιμάνι του Περάματος, κόβοντας την ναυτική βάση στα 2.
Ενδιαφέρον video! Αλλά μια απορεία: εγκαταλείφθηκε λίγο μετά την ολοκληρωσή του; Γιατί απ' όσο ξέρω δεν έχουν έξοδο οι σήραγγες!
Ασ διαμορφωθούν για καταφύγια....οπότε δεν θα πάνε τα χρήματα χαμένα σε καιρό πολέμου θα ήταν σίγουρα χρήσιμα

Διάβασα πριν κάτι μήνες ότι τελικά θα φτιαχτεί ο τριπλος κόμβος Σκαραμαγκά ,τα επόμενα χρόνια.

το πρόβλημα στο συγκεκριμένο έργο το ξεκίνησε το σπιτάκι πάνω από τα τούνελ , του οποίου η ιδιοκτήτρια δεν επέτρεψε τη συνέχιση του έργου. Μετά ακολούθησαν όλα τα υπόλοιπα.
Μια χαρα χρησιμευει για γκραφιτι.
εντωμεταξύ 22 εκ. το 2003 ισοδυναμούν με 35 εκ. σήμερα
