My high school car was a 1978 Datsun 510 hatchback. It was blue, with black louvers over the rear window, a 5 speed, and chrome wheels. It was so much fun.
I saw an episode of Jay's Garage where he asked the presentor of the Hakosuka GTR if the name Datsun was just a marketing strategy and the guy said YES. That guy must have been either misinformed or doesn't know the origin history of Nissan car company.
Sadly Nissan build Quality suffered badly after they joined Renault, my 90s Nissan is well made. In the early years of car production; the number ie Ford 10 indicated the HP of the engine, that was quite common. Many Japanese car manufacturers and others inc BMW started by making copies cars such as the Austin7. Dat-son was the first name changed to Datsun, when they introduced the Nissan name, this was only used on models they were Confident in to do well!!
@@HOTPLATEGAMING Thankfully my Nissan was built properly!!!! It is 92. Later i think Mitsubishi joined also, Jatco automatic gearboxes/CVTs were BAD POOR quality, it is a Pity Nissan allowed this to happen, their build quality was right up there with Toyota, it just was not as well known, Honda have gone DOWNHILL Rapidly in recent years, their cars were VERY WELL MADE!! Not keen on later model Mazdas, they made some GOOD cars but i,ve heard BAD things about the ''SkyActive'' systems BEWARE if buying one CHECK its Service history IF Vague WALK AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
My very first new car was a blue 1980 Datsun 310GX, an excellent 4DR hatchback sedan priced at $5.5K new. Datsun had been doing well ahead of Honda but right around 1982, corporate headquarters decided renamed it NISSAN, I immediately knew it was a bad omen for the company. Nissan has never been able to regain its 2nd position after Toyota after changing name from DATSUN to NISSAN. Nissan should change back to Datsun.
Cheaply built cars and trucks with numerous quality control issues. The Nissan Frontier is listed as one of the trucks that will bankrupt you with repair bills. Our 2020 Nissan Frontier right side door broke off from its hinges that only a new replacement drivers door will fix it. Windshield Wipers control linkage have been replaced twice at a cost of 1300.00 each repair. The Check Engine light numerous repairs to fix it. This in a two year old vehicle. Nissan makes a very poor product.
How's that for a Nissan history?

Dear Nissan, BRING BACK THE DATSUN NAME TO NORTH AMERICA, please.
its like, the long way of stating the obvious of where the money came from i donno
Have to know where you been so you can figure out where your going
It's a shame, the Renault merger has forced them to produce unreliable crap. I'll never own another.
