Anuja I was never able to really relate feelings with raags though I learned classical vocal for 10 long years. I have started again after a break of 6 years to sit with my harmonium to go back to what I learnt, your videos has helped a lot to revise as well as clarify things my teacher never explained properly. I will try from now onwards to try to feel the rasas and bhaavs encapsulated in the rags. I resented classical greatly because I think no one made me understand the beauty of it. Thank you so much, your passion and love for classical indian music is palpable in your expressions, voice and the immense knowledge that you carry within yourself.
Bahut sunder, maine bhi Gandharva Sangeet Mahavidyalaya se 5-6 saal sangeet sikha tha par jeevan ke utar chadaav aur sangharsh me Sangeet kahan kho gaya, pata hi nahi chala, abhi bhi main ek sava mahine se bimar padi hui hun, aise me meri bhanji ne mujhe ye video bheji ki Mausi aap ye video dekho aapko pasand aayegi,...sach tumhari surili awaaz aur raagon ka madhur vishleshan sun kar bahut achchha laga aur man ko bada sukun mila, thank you Anubha 🙏🙏

Beta you have such an amazing indepth knowledge, and above all the way you express is superb. Peopl like me can be termed as leyman but it creates immense intrest to listen each every bit of your video. God bless you little teacher....
I am not pro Hindustani classical but listen to his gonre and try to understand. Great fan of you and like your all videos. You very well explain when you say 'ye shudha Ma hai'. This gives very good reference of swar. I listen to Bhairavi quite often and try understand the mood of bhairavi but didn't get it at all. But today when I listen to your explanation I draw a picture like 'now the lover has become bairagi and he not attached to his lover but still he is praising his lover by not attaching to her'. So only now I understood the mood of Bhairavi. Hats off to your explanation.
You are too excellent ! Thank you a lot for the lucid elaborations. Those who don't like song will start loving song after listening your lessons! Thank you once again!
Hi, Anuja. I am impressed with your deep knowledge, and a simple way of explaining. To my knowledge you are the first person to do this, so Congratulations. I live in England and had western style lessons on piano for over 5 years, back in 1980s, but always believed that to play any Hindustani music, knowledge of Raaga is essential. God Bless you.
There are many thousands of people singing and Presenting classical music You r a good musician and narrator ,which is a very important quality for teaching After Shri Amin Sayaani I enjoyed another narrartor who can talk on a Perticular note Conversation on a note is rare quality God bless you
. The way you teach induces curiosity in the listener and binds then to stick to the end and want to know more. You re so soft spoken . When a person learns indian classical music and dance it really reflects in their voice and personality as i've observed . You are doing a great job spreading such valuable knowledge which is must for every indian to know and take pride in their rich culture. May these videos reach out to millions ‼️👌
This is so womderfuly done! Full power! The expressions translate so beautifully to the ras of the raag. Just would have wished to see raag bairagi instead of bhairavi for the last instance.
Raag bairagi doesn't contain komal gandhar and komal dhaibat....but these soft and painful notes represent the 'bairagi' mood better I think, so Bhairavi is best for the situation according to me.
Anuja Kamat ji. Kya baat hai. Itni acchi gayki, aur bohot hi sureeli awaaz, aur phir excellent explanation along with your beautiful voice aur bareeki us mein. Aur kitni khubsurti ke saath aap ne gaya. Mere pas alfaz nahin hai bayaan karne ke liye jo aap ne kiya hai. I am really humbled. God bless you for your singing and the complete moods/explanations of Hindustani raags. I have shared all your videos with my musical family & friends here in New York. Love you and please keep them coming ❤️🕉❤️
This was really fun to learn! I’m very new to understanding Raagas, and this was a really helpful side-by-side comparison. One thing that peaked my curiosity: you mentioned about how different Raagas evoke different moods, hence how you can sing the same words with a different raag. Is there more of a connection between the words and the chosen raag (like when rewriting Mary had a little lamb from major to minor, the rhythm and melodic contour is consciously maintained, and only lowering the third when it’s sung) or is it more like a theme/variations, where the melodies can be closely or loosely correlated? Great video!
Not only you have a beautiful voice but you're a very good and articulate teacher. Thank you for this video (and for the subtitles too!). I've just found your channel and I subscribed. I'm from Canada and I've always been interested in Carnatic and Indian music in general. It deeply touches my hearth. Your video makes me want to discover more ragas. I love raga Bhairavi :)
Thank you so much Anujaji. I like the way you are sharing your deep knowledge of various Indian raagas and how they are used in our Indian hindi films. You are a great teacher and we love your presentation very much. God bless you !
Great video and exposition ….. 👏👏👏….Not many would know that decades ago Vividh Bharti on AIR used to air this awesome program called Sangeet Sarita, 7.30a to 7.50a, daily on weekdays that used to EXACTLY talk about such beautiful comparisons - start with a classical raga topic and sample by some famous classical singer, describe key points of that raaga and its profile and then end on a “light” note showcasing a popular film tune based on that classical raaga and how that particular music composer had creatively adopted that raaga - as a gentle encouragement for Hindi film music lovers to start exploring the infinite ocean of classical music of which film music is ultimately a (popular)sub-genre. Great video that brought back indelible delightful memories of those times …..and very well showcased how Music and Mood are fundamentally intertwined. (and talking of AIR a fond shoutout to Ameen Sayani the Golden Voice of AIR and Geetmala who passed away last week in his 90s………thank you sir and RIP, you will never be forgotten… 🙏🙏🙏)
Actually they came to this clip by mistake and didn't like it. Maybe they are idiots too who don't understand indian classical music. These are of digital.com era
Beautifully, Musically, Articulative Anuja Kamat has instantly found her place in the hearts of thousands of music-lovers, particularly of Indian Classical Music .. Raags so lucidily explained for layman like me who loves music but doesn't have knowledge of classical music. Kudos.👍👍👍 One question: i try to play some song on various mobile phone keyboard apps but not able to do so without knowing the notes. Can you explain some trick for playing songs on keyboard apps for noobs like us, if it is at all possible?
U will have to practice basic musical exercise and train ur EAR ( most important )... To play any song on ur own requires " ear training " which comes only by practice and gradually.. ( no shortcut , except to get notation directly ) All utube videos which claim for 1 day or 1 week are fake ! Good luck
Definitely you can play You just have to practice through trial and error method just pick any song try to find it's notes by hitting any two notes until you find similar one then you will automatically find all the notes I also faced same difficulty earlier I can't play without searching the notes now i can find any song's notes just within 2-3 miniutes and that too by trial and error method main difficulty is the starting notes after that you can play in flow it automatically comes in mind.
@@rythmx8339 definitely it's the most important step when we listen to all the notes again and again it automatically stores in our mind then we can easily find them in any song
Having lived abroad for 35 years, I have come to realize the superiority of Hindu consciousness. Indian classical music based on ragas is just one example to support my claim. Thank you Miss Kamat for expressing emotions of a popular song in multiple ways.
Yes Sunil ..I understand your pain of living abroad and introspection brought about by our classical music in you.You have rightly expressed.Hope you make your journey back to your soul through our music.Thats the beauty of our music.

Wow...you are a warm personality, with a beautiful smile....and it seems...gods hand is on you.....Gratitude
किती गोड आहेस ग तू, किती सुंदर समजावून सांगितले आहे ज्याना राग माहीत नाहीत त्यान्ना ही समजेल , God bless you, अशीच संगीतमय सेवा Tuzya हातून होवो.
You are the person who is giving me more confidence to become a good composer using raag.. Thanks is very small for what you are doing for us.
“Nawabon ke dard be bahut shahi hotein hai.” What a beautiful way to describe the context. Your work is very important and needed.
Bahut sunder, maine bhi Gandharva Sangeet Mahavidyalaya se 5-6 saal sangeet sikha tha par jeevan ke utar chadaav aur sangharsh me Sangeet kahan kho gaya, pata hi nahi chala, abhi bhi main ek sava mahine se bimar padi hui hun, aise me meri bhanji ne mujhe ye video bheji ki Mausi aap ye video dekho aapko pasand aayegi,...sach tumhari surili awaaz aur raagon ka madhur vishleshan sun kar bahut achchha laga aur man ko bada sukun mila, thank you Anubha 🙏🙏
Anu, you are great. I mentioned other places too, no one be able to explain on UA-cam the Raga Chalan the way you explain and sing too in such a Madhur and Melodious voice. We all, who have subscribed to your Blog, love and adore you. God Bless You. Anuja. Thanks for sharing such a Wonderful presentation to the Music lovers.

I am completely new in this world ...an absolute naive...but I must appreciate and acknowledge your knowledge / studies of music... precisely the Raagas...👍👍
Keep up the good work...this will help to retain our ancient treasures of Hindustani Music/ Raagas...and the mental peace, joy it brings with it....👍👍
How nicely did you interpret this whole concept of playing with ragas' and moods ❤ Kudos to you for such amazing work 😊
Darbari because Tansen was bounded by the Akbar's court, so was expressing Royal pain
Bhairavi has two moods -Romance and Devotion
Very nice explanations all ragas, thanks once again...
Anuja please make more videos. I have no idea what you are saying but trust me your in depth knowledge of Indian classical music is too good to listen. You have melodious voice. Please don't stop making videos. All my family enjoy your videos. God bless you!
I just started Classical Hindustani lessons, I LOVE IT! Your videos are so helpful! I am just leaning the 10 Thaats. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!!! YOU are wonderful!
Mind blowing . Voice as sweet as a cuckoo
And the knowledge of Raga and Sur - top level.
May God bless you even though you are already blessed.
We think of comparing someone to a cuckoo as an insult. But since you gave this as a compliment I looked it up. I understand now how it's actually a complement.
@@jasonsdodd
Dear sir, I am comparing sister's voice and gayaki to a cuckoo's song. You can better relate to it the birds singing in the Hebrides.
मोहक प्रस्तुति! जयतु!!💐🚩🙏
Your singing is really divine....but at the same time when you talk about Indian philosophy, you touch something deep inside me....💞
Thank you very interesting! From Kabul and Jai Hind!
Any Afghan song recommend ation ?
A delightful explanation. This is the first time I have seen anyone explain different ragas with the same song. Thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you!
Raagas + moods + Anuja mam's voice + anuja mam's knowledge = Incredible 💜💜

खूप छान!असेच वेगवेगळे प्रकार सादर करत रहा.तरुण पिढीने हे अभिजात संगीत जपा.व आनंद द्या. खूप खूप शुभेच्छा आशिर्वाद.

ANUJA ... YOU ARE EXTREMELY TALENTED...A BRILLIANT NARATOR...NO COMPOSER CAN STAND YOU... YOU ARE SIMPLY OUT STANDING... GREAT.
👍
मां सरस्वती के आशीर्वाद है आप पे

You r a good musician and narrator ,which is a very important quality for teaching
After Shri Amin Sayaani I enjoyed another narrartor who can talk on a Perticular note
Conversation on a note is rare quality
God bless you
Wow this was such a simple yet effective way of explaining the differences in raags, thank you so much for making these videos :)
Absolutely wonderful. Thanks for putting it on UA-cam.
Can you do some more such videos. What a marvelous presentation. Very impressive indeed!
I am now sending your link (I had this marked long ago) to my friend Bharati in Mumbai. I am in Toronto. Its 3.35 am. And this is high priority for me. She will love this. She probably already has subscribed.
Thanks Anuja Kamat ji.

God bless you for your singing and the complete moods/explanations of Hindustani raags.
I have shared all your videos with my musical family & friends here in New York.
Love you and please keep them coming ❤️🕉❤️
अनुजा जी आप अच्छा तो गाती है ही पर आपकी आवाज़ भी बहुत प्यारी है । 👌
I like
the way you are sharing your deep
knowledge of various Indian raagas and how they are used in
our Indian hindi films. You are a great teacher and we love your
presentation very much.
I have 0 knowledge of music, I loved your exposition of the ragas. Will look forward to other videos

Madam I listened to this again. So clear in thought. Particularly the way you touched and stayed in Sohni. Simply beautiful. Prof SAS
Raags so lucidily explained for layman like me who loves music but doesn't have knowledge of classical music. Kudos.👍👍👍
One question: i try to play some song on various mobile phone keyboard apps but not able to do so without knowing the notes. Can you explain some trick for playing songs on keyboard apps for noobs like us, if it is at all possible?
U will have to practice basic musical exercise and train ur EAR ( most important )...
To play any song on ur own requires " ear training " which comes only by practice and gradually.. ( no shortcut , except to get notation directly )
All utube videos which claim for 1 day or 1 week are fake !
Good luck
I would suggest that you find a guru to teach you the fundamentals, it’s crucial for any kind of musical exploration
Definitely you can play
You just have to practice through trial and error method just pick any song try to find it's notes by hitting any two notes until you find similar one then you will automatically find all the notes
I also faced same difficulty earlier I can't play without searching the notes now i can find any song's notes just within 2-3 miniutes and that too by trial and error method main difficulty is the starting notes after that you can play in flow it automatically comes in mind.
Sunil Arora The moment superiority in consciousness is claimed, said Party loses the superiority, IMHO.
Conciusness was more developed.............. Thats what he meant... :)
Yes Sunil ..I understand your pain of living abroad and introspection brought about by our classical music in you.You have rightly expressed.Hope you make your journey back to your soul through our music.Thats the beauty of our music.
