    I don’t get the Asian glow anymore like I used to in college and high school. Which I don’t know of that is a good or a bad thing. My tolerance has increased significantly

      how did you do that I really want to know !!!

    • @willcookmakeup
      @willcookmakeup 2 роки тому +2

      @@dfsdfsdafsd9008 unfortunately it boils down to drinking too much and my body developed a tolerance for it. I'm working on slowing down and trying to drink less heavily - as my tolerance is not something I'm necessarily proud of. So I would focus on drinking things that have lower sugar content and are lighter in color.
      Wine is the #1 single worst thing for me and will make me throw up for hours. Vodka however, I can drink continuously and generally never have a hangover from. But dark aged rum, whiskey, mixed drinks, and beer arent ideal. But Gin, tequila blanco, sake, sometimes bacardi are all ok for me.
      I never want to condone or encourage over use of alcohol, but that is how I got rid of the flush was by drinking more. But that really is not a good solution in the long run and you shouldn't do it. I feel though an honest answer was deserved because I've also seen so many insane DIY at home remedies for the Asian glow that aren't safe either. So just be ok with getting red, drink in moderation, and you might want to invest in a color correcting cream or tinted moisturizer

    I suffered ALDH2 and I didn’t know this until 5 years ago when I looked it up and I still drink to date lol. Myself and A lot of people, (almost all, even my own GP) thought I just have low tolerance to alcohol . I also thought I had allergies. In 36 years of my life only met 1 person who actually know my condition because he’s a research chemist. The reactions I get when drinking even just half a pint of 4% cider.
    - whole body will get very warm, I can feel it mostly on my face and ears.
    -turning red. As in VERY RED
    - very rapid heartbeat
    -difficulty breathing
    -red watery eyes and puffy eye bags
    -Red blotches all over my body (looks hives but they’re not itchy)
    -nausea
    -burred vission
    -very sleepy
    -And the weirdest part is I feel very very cold and shivering
    - I pass out
    Note: this only 4% of cider.. basically the reaction is like a very drunk person.
    ( I am feeling these whilst still drinking not like when it’s finish hence it would take an hr for me or more to finish the half pint.)
    I noticed, the shivering reaction goes away when I’m in the club crazily dancing (my theory is maybe because I sweat it out)
    I can still manage to carry on drinking when I stop in between like drinking water, eating and fresh air. After 1-2 hrs, feels like I can have another half pint. I have also come to the point that I pass out, I remembered my eyes were widely open but saw just black then I pass out.
    On top of all of these... I know exactly what’s going on seems like my brain is fully functioning, remembering every single details unlike to a normal drunk person that cannot remember as much.
    My doctor haven’t been able to help me with this apart from he said “just don’t drink” and said no available medications in the UK (well bcoz he didn’t know the deficiency) there are available meds in America but so damn expensive. So how are we going to fix this?

      ai lee hello and thank you so much for watching and commenting! So sorry you have to go through such frustrating symptoms :( for much of your life. Unfortunately we don’t know of a cure for this. Science today has created products that seem to work for many people, but it is still just a supplement and not actually approved as a cure for what we suffer. Our goal is that we can all come together and share our stories as you have done here, and eventually when new information and new discoveries arise we can be the first to know and share with each other. For now we appreciate all the support that you all are giving each other!

      I too am not Asian and have just now researched this issue that Ive been ignorant too my whole life. I just always dealt with the redness and feeling really warm and just kept on drinking. I'm 33 now and after reading about the link between this condition and cancer risk I've decided to pretty much stop drinking. The C word tends to scare the crap out of most people and now that I have a wife and daughter I'm definitely taking my health much more seriously.

    • @Robinforthewin

      @@driftlessman2094 the cancer part is very low risk when drinking occasionally. So I would not really be worried too much. Hey Mike and Matty, thank you so much for educating the Asian community about this. I've sent this to my Asian friends, and I'm very grateful. I have a question: is there anyway to remove the acetaldehyde from your system when drinking? I don't want to give up drinking, so I'm very much willing to invest in supplements/methods that can do that. Or at least lessen the risk of cancer. If not, I'm afraid I'll have to kick the can!

      Why isn’t it safe?

    • @kynguyen8554
      @kynguyen8554 2 роки тому +1

      Not a doctor, but I would say that it is because pepcid only masks the glow, but doesn't prevent any of the underlying negative effects of the alcohol and acetaldehyde. This just leads to people who are more at risk (People who lack the aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 enzyme) to continue to drink, increasing the risk of cancer.

    I’m not East Asian, I’m Armenian so we come from the Caucasian area (caucus mountains etc) and idk how much Armenians are impacted by Asian flush. But this happens to me and idk if it’s Asian flush or an allergy to alcohol. How can I find out? I drink a white claw only one which is 5 percent alc, and get red patches over my face, legs, back, ches and neck and my body feels numb, super hot and I can feel my pulse in my fingers, tip of nose and tips of ears. My heart beats super fast which is super uncomfortable and my eyes get kinda swollen. I get super sleepy, dizzy and get chills and feel cold.

    Dunno if you guys still read the comment section but I had a question regarding your playlist to Asian glow:
    Im not sure if I have Asian glow... I don’t really turn red when I drink maybe a little but with the right alcohol I can drink without noticing much of the symptoms - at other times I do get the headaches, nausea and sleepiness associated with Asian glow... I was never told that I turned red or sth but I do notice the other Symptoms
    Now im not sure if one can have Asian glow without actually „glowing“. Or maybe I do have it but like not as much as others.
    And another question I had was how do you two handle your glow? Is there any way to reduce risk of cancer while still drinking? Or is reducing alcohol consumption the only Solution? And how much do you guys drink max on a Weekend?

    • @KoiAcademy
      @KoiAcademy  4 роки тому +1

      Good questions. Your case sounds a little more difficult to figure out. It may help to look at your parents, if neither of them glow then you have a low chance of it. There are genetic tests you can take as well but the accuracy of them is not 100%. It’s hard to tell but it sounds like you might not have it because the symptoms you describe (headache, nausea, sleepiness) are normal symptoms of drinking alcohol rather than glow.
      We don’t drink on a weekly basis. Maybe a little bit during holidays or family gatherings
