So. I got emotional as soon as he appeared on screen. It's hard for me to see these legends age. I have him pictured as his original Into The Woods self and it's sad to see time moving on and nothing is forever.
This whole show felt like the passing of the guard. The old generation passing the baton to the new. And with Stephen now gone...I feel it even more, and it makes me incredibly sad.
Can Brandon Uranowitz please just play all of the roles that Chip has ever done? Or can someone write a show and Brandon can play Chip's son/younger self?
Like Chip, I was able to Play the Baker (when I was in High School)... Now in my early 30s I was cast to be the Mysterious Man...Then the COVID lockdown happened right before our Tech week started. This song is a big ood.
WHY DID THEY CUT THIS FROM THE MOVIE?!?! Ugh! It makes me so angry. When I did this show, we all used to hang out in the wings just to listen to this every night. (I guess they cut it because Corden played the Baker and the Narrator, but IDC, this is one of Sondheim’s best songs and it’s so perfect for this part of the story.)

In fact in the movie the soul of the baker’s father appears to him when the baker ran away from the group reminding him to be better than him. While this happens the BG music is an instrumental version of No More
2 things: He still sounds as great as he did in 88, and the fact he still has the hat is what got me at the end. Chip Zien is legendary
I'm not crying you're crying.
He needs to play the old man/narrator someday so he can have played both parts in this amazing duet✨
He did😊 In the Central Park production back in 2012.
Clay Flix In that product he only played the old man. the narrator was replaced by a little boy.
@@reigningastrid339 wait so they sacrificed the kid to the giant?😂
@@garch9719in that production the second act is the kid's nightmare
Chip played Cinderella’s father and the Mysterious Man in the Central Park Into The Woods in 2012
IS THAT THE BAKERS HAT IN THE BACK
It’s rare that such a voice is perfect for a role.

His voice is as ageless as that moment in time when he played the baker. He has an impeccable voice.
@@JBeeship truly.

@@Kasino80 too true. I don’t know when I’ll be able to watch his stuff again.
Wow, he still sounds the same as he did in the original cast recording xxx
Not really, his voice has definitely aged slightly, but he still sounds similar. He’s not as strong on some notes as he was back in 88.
The Baker's hat at the end held to Chip's heart just kills me. I'm always moved by this song, especially performed by him.
Chip is sheer perfection and is my one and only baker.... his voice and emotion are breathtaking.
On the night of Sondheim's death, I first went to "Sunday". This is the second. Great job, Chip!
This song is the whole centre and pivot of 'Into The Woods'. It's the Baker's own potential "baking accident". Chip Zien - isn't he lovely.
Songs and performers like these make the world a better place

idk I think chip will always do it better like...what's the point

Into the Woods revival with Brandon as Baker and Chip as Narrator/Old Man
They both played Mendal in Fallsettos!
this is a voice that will never change and i love it
I remember you, Chip. Love that you have the hat.
This just makes me cry to no end.
what a beautiful voice and performance and song. just amazing. Such talented man crazy how his voice still sounds absolutely perfect.
He is a legend.
How excellent! What a legend!
...the voice, the song still breaks the heart...
Chillingly beautiful
His voice literally has not changed. How.
I’m not crying, you’re crying...
i love that in this performance he still sings the lyrics wrong. "Till that happy day arrives" indeed chip....
I know you since my teenagehood Chip Zien, i love you.🥰
Extraordinarily moving
Absolute legend ❤
Loved him in In trousers
Beautifully performed
Much love Chip and thanks for this. You'll always be the Baker to me. A fine performance, comedic, sad, hopeful. God bless
RIP Sondheim, your compositions will always move the world!
I love this song and Mr. Zien!
Beautiful thank you I hope get a chance play that on my bucket list.💐💐

The hat ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
If I can make it to my 80’s, I hope I can still have this delicacy.
I love this moments into woods!!!
So lovely
This is New Year's Day 2024. The lyrics starting at 2:50 say it all. 😣
You too Stephen Sondheim ❤️💓
❤️
Anyone else just burst into loud tears immediately?
Yep
Yes!
His voice barely changed!
The hat on the piano!

The movie is definitely the weaker version of the story. :(
YES!!!!!
THE DAMN HAT! DO YOU ALL SEE THAT?!
Always wanted to hear him sing outside of ItW, but can't find much of anything.
Listen to the original recordings of the Marvin trilogy by William Finn. He plays Marvin in In Trousers, March of the Falsettos, and Falsettoland
@@skysstuff8540 hes also in a new brain by william finn
@@skysstuff8540 (only Marvin in the first one - he was Mendel in the others.)
Well, f***. Now I'm crying.
Nobody messes with a master of Quack Fu
How does he sound younger?? Or is that just me??
The hat
yep, somehow also the voice of Howard the Duck.
Great guy.. too bad i haven't seen/heard much of him since Howard the duck.
Can you please do Johnny Depp in Helena Bonham Carter singing Epiphany from Sweeney Todd next please and thank you?

they cut out the baker's entire story arc smh😔
Not to mention, this song really carries one of the main themes and resolutions. Big mistake by producers of the movie
Because james corden could never live up to the legend that is Chip Zien
It’s the heart and soul of the musical. Them cutting the baker’s arc is the biggest issue with the movie. They changed the tone dramatically.
