Got mine a few days ago, love it! Got a bunch of small tube heads and combos, this one is a rocker. Really nice high distortion sound, of course not satisfying for modern metal, djent music.... great classic hardrock sound.
easily the best demo of this amp that there is out there. thanks so much for this! i do have one minor request though... would you ever upload another playthrough with this amp on the
Was waiting to hear some gain, and there it was, I liked it very grainy, good for early Zeppelin and Ac/Dc,,,that's what I like a simple tube amp with great tone and gain, a lot of amps today give you one or the other, sounds good enough to purchase.
Im choosing between the laney cub15h or blackstar ht5 head and i decided to go for laney because the tube sound is better than ht5 i just need a descent distortion peds to catch up with the ht5 metal sounds.laney is more versatile amp for me from warm cleans to heavy gains. But ht5 is really good for modern metal but for cleans not as good as this laney.tnx for this video it helps me a lot.
Great amp, just a question... isn't that position preventing the amp to have a good air ventilation for the tubes? I have the same, that's why I'm asking... cheers!
Nice demo, but missing a couple of really important bits - high volume low gain, what does it sound like when power amp is flat out, and in both the 15W and the 0.1W output. This is a really important feature of the amp, and you missed.
I've got a small head with switchable output, critical to home use / recording when needing to really push the power amp to get the classic low gain ACDC tones.
Can anyone explain the difference between turning down tone and just turning down treble? And also what the difference is between the tone on the preamp and a guitar tone knob?
Joeri Van den Eynden the three band eq is part of the preamp. The tone control sits between the preamp and power amp sections, so it shapes the tone more on the power amp section. I've heard some equate it to a presence control. Also useful if you are using the effects loops or bypassing the preamp altogether.
Obigrobi666 Hmm.. interesting. I got the combo version and it has Ruby tubes in it. I guess your amp is from the newer ones - those with the yellow grill cloth.
@@Obigrobi666 thanks a lot for replying. "years" with no issue is a good answer enough. Lastly, very nice demo which show all settings...thanks for that too. I think just throw in an overdrive pedal is enough for neoclassic metal which is less heavy than trash or djent.
Sorry if I seem frustrated, but I have watched an overabundance of demos and reviews for this amp, and I have yet to find the very first one where somebody actually talks during the video telling you what the setting are or how they are achieving the tone they are getting. Would it kill them to throw in an opinion about the amp and how well it would work under different conditions? All these players are talented and we're all happy they know the riffs for popular tunes, but I'm watching the videos to learn about the amp and not their ability to play AC/DC. I'll mellow out later but for now there's just not much available.
Michael Cain '...telling you what the setting are or how they are achieving the tone they are getting.' This is literally a video pointed at the amp with all the EQ settings displayed to you, and everything else (guitar, mic etc) is in the description. This isn't a review, either, it's a playthrough as is written in the title. Clicking on a playthrough video expecting a review and commentary is your fault.
Most complete & best sound demo of this I have found. Thanks.
greatvanzinni I see you can get a foot switch for it. To turn reverb on & off? I'm not finding anything on their website.
thanks a lot!
greatvanzinni yup, is has a jack for the footswitch on the back. i never tried it.
Low volume high sounds lackluster. Terrible review
I picked one of these up a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it! This video was a big reason why I decided to buy it. Thanks!
nice!
Do you still use it? Is it durable in the long run? I'm thinking about buying this one.
Best review of this amp head. Thanks from Venezuela - South America
♥♥♥
Incredibly under-rated single channel (modern) tube amp. I've found the cub and the iron heart 60 extremely versatile and low noise.
Thank you, man, that's a proper demo !
:*
excellent, simple and effective demo :)
Bought it, love it. One channel sound monster. But just for me....
it is indeed

@@snookthering it would be nice to know
It would have been nice to raise the volume lower your gain to see how muck head room on clean it has but you are into high gain sounds

Dude, I just read your comment. :D Sorry, but I dont have the opportunity right now to do this. This would be far too loud here.

Have tried four different HT5's. All were crap.
Why did the power light go bright at 8:40?
because laney sucks at making lights in amps. i know a ironheart with the same problem. :D
Obigrobi666 I guess what's important is that it sounds good (they seem to from some of the demos I've heard).
Great amp, just a question... isn't that position preventing the amp to have a good air ventilation for the tubes? I have the same, that's why I'm asking... cheers!
This position is even better for aur ventilation because the amp is only open on the back. So the back is on the top.

My neighbours wouldnt like that. But I agree.
I tried this.. Still works like a charm..

Nice video. :)
What cab do you use?
Is the Cub Head with stock tubes? What brand are they?
Thanks!
i have a v30 loaded harley benton 4x12 at home. :D
the tubes are stock. they come with JJ tubes.

Johnny Bravo
sorry. my amo has ruby tubes too. i was confused. :D

I have'nt used it for a longer time but in all the years I never had anny issues with that amp.

closed cab ? it sounds better than a open cab ,
Closed cab.
Where can I find a sm57 or 58 clone?
Thomann for example. I think they are called "MB 57"
@@Obigrobi666 perfect! The only thing is that Im across the pool
They ship worldwide.
You can get SM 57 clones everywhere.
usou pedal, ou a distorcão é do amplificador mesmo ?
Carlos Schallenberger guitar straight into the amp.
This AMP start grooving when volume knob on 5, dude. And it sounds sooooooo sexy!!! Very HOT! :) I recomend it. Sounds like Accept. 80-th Heavy Metal.
I liked little ending there pretty decent sound for a Chinese amp..

I tried it with a fairly loud band once and it was just on the edge of beeing loud enough. so maybe this could work.
