This video demonstrates that perfectly; nobody expected you to put one out like this, but the fact that you do shows one of your most unique strengths. It's not just the building, or the chateau (yours or anyone elses) even though that may have been the initial pull for many, what keeps us interested is the person you are, have shared with us, your drive, fearlessness and multitalent but also the fact you are Dan, a warmhearted human being with a dark sense of humor, a foreigner in the land you live, working hard at getting your sotuation sorted and achieving a life balance between family, work, dream projects, immediate future sustainability and a place to stay reasinably comfortably while yoi tackle these huge projects. I didn't know the story behind his lone efforts building the addition. That makes me very sad, marriage is never easy but it is awful when the relationships come to grief. I enjoy watching this young man, he doesn't have all the advantages the others do, but he has dreams and takes on adventures. We have been married through ups and downs for 58 years and we still try to have 'adventures'. We bought a little house in The Limousin in 2002 as another crazy adventure, I am so glad we did. Perhaps one day we will all meet up, that would be another adventure!

I don't think it's weird at all to feel a connection from vlogging. I remember Stephanie saying there was a time she lived in the Chateau by herself but didn't feel lonely because the vlogging helped her feel connected to people. I think it's pretty cool that you get something out of it, we are all here watching your work from our desks/couches. If anything, we're the weird ones.

Love you, Dan! You must know we all are rooting for you with every fiber of our being. You are usually the first one I watch on UA-cam and it is always, "I wonder what Dan is doing today?" I count you as a friend even though we have never met. I think builders have much in common and I just enjoy watching what you are doing. My husband and I built our house and extra buildings on 20 acres 47 years ago, raising lots of animals and lots of vegetables....it was a good life and stands out as our best years. I am 76 years old now and my husband died 16 months ago, so yeah, it was my happy time that I will always remember.😊🙂🥰

The last three years have really re-written the way we connect and communicate with each other. I can understand that talking into a camera is a form of two way communication now. I think that most of us will be on the trip with you for years to come and of we can help by watching our 'friend' work and struggle and laugh and show us his building talents then it truly is a two way communication. I have been watching you since the virus hit in 2019. My saddest time for me was seeing you and your wife, go your separate ways. After all you accomplished together and watching you both with your little boys, it was so heartbreaking. Now every time I see you trying to finish your house, in the rain, snow and windy days and late into the night, it just amazes me. And I always pray that you and Annalise could renew that love you once had! 👍🏻💕
LOL I know what you mean! I go days and weeks without talking to anyone. I tweet and I watch my fav UA-cam channels. They are creative, as I am. I have a great time chatting with friends but in the back of my head I'm itching to get back to my projects. Nothing against the people, it's just that being creative, working on projects that will go to my forever home and gardens is my main focus. Once I am set up I will enjoy sharing it with my friends but honestly, I don't ever see a day when I won't be into some project or other! It's what keeps me going and happy! I made a documentary over a period of 5 years (!) and it was wonderful to have that rewarding work to do, especially during Covid. I get the isolation thing, whenever I’ve gone through major events or changes in my life I crave my own company. I listen to music, read books, eat when I want, sleep when I want, try new things I guess it’s sort of a metamorphosis, changing from one lifestyle or definition to another. I enjoy spending time alone, even though my daughter and family live upstairs I still spend a lot of time in my own space doing my own thing. Good luck Dad, hope it all works out for you. 🙋🏼♀️ 7:11

My daily journal was written and doesn't make much sense anymore, but it did at the time. You're such a mensch Dan, and really, truly that's why you've aquired all these followers. This video demonstrates that perfectly; nobody expected you to put one out like this, but the fact that you do shows one of your most unique strengths. It's not just the building, or the chateau (yours or anyone elses) even though that may have been the initial pull for many, what keeps us interested is the person you are, have shared with us, your drive, fearlessness and multitalent but also the fact you are Dan, a warmhearted human being with a dark sense of humor, a foreigner in the land you live, working hard at getting your sotuation sorted and achieving a life balance between family, work, dream projects, immediate future sustainability and a place to stay reasinably comfortably while yoi tackle these huge projects. I, and I'm sure pretty mich everyone who follows you get it, we care, and we're routing for you. We KNOW you can do whatever you set your aim at, and we're here (even to watch paint dry on occasion lol) because we love you and admire how well you carry yourself even through the toughest chapters of life, like separation, and we all envy your energy and courage to not just dream BIG, but really dig in and go after it, follow your heart, dare to say, I can do it!
It's clear to me you're also a very kind and considerate soul. And on a personal note, that's what's most attractive in a man, and almost rare these days.
I've been through separation and had long periods of living out of a couple of boxes in different flats, countries etc. I've been through depression and experienced stretches of social disconnect. I'm probably never going to have everything figured out, but hey, life is process, growth, inevitable change.
I can relate to what you're going through and have been for a while, and I admire your candour as well as your selfdicipline and productive attitude also in the face of adversity and bum luck now and then.

The Beer Bug Drag is something most of us are dealing with. Even if people haven't gotten sick, they are still coping with others who have the blahs.
Many of us OG people will be with you for the long run, because we are invested in your journey. The chateau will be awesome to watch coming together. Let's face it we like you, we like Annalise and the kids. We are sad you did split with Annalise, I have to admit that, but everyone is on their own personal journey. We want the best for you and want things to go your way. I know many people are excited for your future to be a happy one, with great success. I didn't know the story behind his lone efforts building the addition. That makes me very sad, marriage is never easy but it is awful when the relationships come to grief. I enjoy watching this young man, he doesn't have all the advantages the others do, but he has dreams and takes on adventures. We have been married through ups and downs for 58 years and we still try to have 'adventures'. We bought a little house in The Limousin in 2002 as another crazy adventure, I am so glad we did. Perhaps one day we will all meet up, that would be another adventure!

I don't think it's weird at all to feel a connection from vlogging. I remember Stephanie saying there was a time she lived in the Chateau by herself but didn't feel lonely because the vlogging helped her feel connected to people. I think it's pretty cool that you get something out of it, we are all here watching your work from our desks/couches. If anything, we're the weird ones.

Love you, Dan! You must know we all are rooting for you with every fiber of our being. You are usually the first one I watch on UA-cam and it is always, "I wonder what Dan is doing today?" I count you as a friend even though we have never met. I think builders have much in common and I just enjoy watching what you are doing. My husband and I built our house and extra buildings on 20 acres 47 years ago, raising lots of animals and lots of vegetables....it was a good life and stands out as our best years. I am 76 years old now and my husband died 16 months ago, so yeah, it was my happy time that I will always remember.😊🙂🥰

The last three years have really re-written the way we connect and communicate with each other. I can understand that talking into a camera is a form of two way communication now. I think that most of us will be on the trip with you for years to come and of we can help by watching our 'friend' work and struggle and laugh and show us his building talents then it truly is a two way communication. Stay strong, fukc the bad comments, take joy in daily life, you are young, handsome and talented with two great kids, some great friends and a chateau ! xo

I think it was a heart thing. He said he just saw it and fell in love with it and couldn't stop thinking about it, so he made it happen. As for strategy, I'll just watch, wait and see 🤗 Can't wait!

After all you accomplished together and watching you both with your little boys, it was so heartbreaking. LOL I know what you mean! I go days and weeks without talking to anyone. I tweet and I watch my fav UA-cam channels. They are creative, as I am. I have a great time chatting with friends but in the back of my head I'm itching to get back to my projects. Nothing against the people, it's just that being creative, working on projects that will go to my forever home and gardens is my main focus. Once I am set up I will enjoy sharing it with my friends but honestly, I don't ever see a day when I won't be into some project or other! It's what keeps me going and happy! Thanks for explaining about your projects. I'm glad you still go to dinners at LaLande quite often. And you are a great father and it's good to know you're still working on the farmhouse for your family. I made a documentary over a period of 5 years (!) and it was wonderful to have that rewarding work to do, especially during Covid. I'm still promoting the documentary, submitting it to film festivals. Creative work can be exhausting at times, but it is worth it. Take care!

I really love this channel for its simplicity to the point it feels relateable and dear which also means there is alot of potential for growth to the point where building on a budget in a stressful, creative and relateable way is no longer necessary with ad revenue, sponsorships etc. So on one hand I wish nothing but success to Dan and his family on this youtube only journey and on the other hand I really enjoy watching this somewhat stressy, unpredictable yolo a chateau time as well. I get the isolation thing, whenever I’ve gone through major events or changes in my life I crave my own company. I listen to music, read books, eat when I want, sleep when I want, try new things I guess it’s sort of a metamorphosis, changing from one lifestyle or definition to another.
I enjoy spending time alone, even though my daughter and family live upstairs I still spend a lot of time in my own space doing my own thing.

Dan, your daily vlogs are like a trip down memory lane. In Feb 1992! (when?) I was in l' Indre (where?) (36000) knocking down walls and making regular trips to Brico in Le Blanc. My daily journal was written and doesn't make much sense anymore, but it did at the time. Keep up the good work you are making us all very happy to see your progress, and leaving a record which does, and will, make lots of sense in years to come. "Dan, le mec formidable." A plus!
