Hey, love the new addition, but being someone who's nerded thermals for far too long, here's a few suggestions to them: not all thermal sights have the low framerate, the more expensive a thermal, the higher resolution, FOV, Framerate and lower delay. one unique aspect to a lot of thermals, is they have tiny pauses where they "recalibrate". even very expensive models, can have this, where the image pauses for a short period, ranging from .5 seconds to 2 seconds, before it resumes as normal. the interval also increases the more expensive the unit is, meaning less interruptions. Additionally, Thermals can see straight through smoke, a feature getting used by certain firefighting departments for search and rescue. Thermals can also not see through any glass you'll realistically find, only capable of seeing through Germanium, a rare metal, and some special Silicone lenses made for the purpose. Mirrors on the other hand, will work with thermals too! Shiny metal, will also work like mirros and reflect the same way as a mirror would. All this is based on hundreds of hours of research in to this, as well as my own findings with my own thermal camera, being two units, one the cheapest possible, and one on the high end spectrum.
Also forgot to add, another idea could be making that cold barrel, make the sosig and enviroment around the barrel, make the thermal pick that up as a dark blue color, indicating it's colder than ambient tempature
Glass and smoke stuff is already in, mirroring doesn't work since we're not doing raytracing. NUC-ing wasn't implemented because it's kind of annoying, so I'd only want to do it if it's done correctly, and I don't think we can reliably get data on the timings for it for every thermal device we'd implement (my understanding is that the timing would also change over time as the device starts to heat up while in use)
Please don't make it so that sosigs just automatically aggro on your exact location if they see your laser, that would make them extremely lame and bad. I think the best course of action to take would be to just make them go on high alert and turn toward the your general direction if they see your laser. That way they still have to look at *you* for at least a half second before they start shooting, but it *will* still be a tradeoff.
While I agree with you, it would still be interesting if they can aggro on you, as long as the type of sosig is capable of doing so. While civilians or sosigs from the past would be confused, those that are trained in modern combat and possible even have vision enhancing gear could trace back where the laser comes from. Of course it would still be good to get a setting for that, since I do like to up the difficulty in take and hold from time to time. Other times I just want to run and gun for fun.
I think it should depend on exposure time (if they only see the laser for a split second they shouldn't know where you are, but for a longer while they should be able to pin point you)
Hopefully, after all the headache of implementing the NV and IR systems, we get to see the m3 carbine in a future update and it's ridiculously gigantic night vision system!
Are you gonna add a dark/night TnH map in the future? Being able to shoot out lights in TnH levels would also be really cool to go alongside the NVGs and thermals (Adding nvgs to the buy menu for any dark maps would also be swag)

Really going above and beyond on this Anton! Out of curiosity, will you be applying the heating effect you demoed on the minigun to suppressors (since there are significantly fewer of those in game versus the firearms)? I can absolutely understand if you still decide to only apply it to stuff that already has the effect built in. It's probably a huge amount of work as it is.

Maybe you could add a refresh rate override in setting for the thermal sights? Like a playful setting that will keep the refresh rate the same as HMD refresh rate, and a realistic setting that runs at native refresh rates.

With the 3 categories I hope we get a revamp of T&H's accessory spawn system. It already sucks to get non-compatible parts, imagine getting a clip-on night vision for a map with no dark areas or when you don't have any other kind of sight.
Hey Anton, love the work! Any plans to make the night vision systems have an optical focus? I use night vision regularly and it really makes weapon manipulation and other tasks close to you very difficult when your goggles are set to optical infinity. I think it would really add a layer of immersion and realism, as well as highlight the importance of red dots for passive aiming since iron sights can't be used.
Me whos playing H3VR with the Modern Warfighter Remake Optics Mod, which have thermal Scopes (sadly not working correctly at the moment): I would love it to have heat signatures from Sosigs. Anton now: Here you go. In some time i can use for example the torrey pines logic t10 (1x Thermal Scope) What i would also like: (I have a lot of Light/Laser Combos (Modern Warfighter Light and Lasers Mod) and they have the option to toggle stroblight on most of these Light/Laser combos. ) The option to blind and distract Sosigs with Gun mounted Lamps and the Stroblight.

You should make a night map version of the big icy map (forgot the name) for the night vision
