It’s actually the website that inspired Moot to create 4chan. Anyways, these characters then inspired a group of indie musicians to assume the identities of the maids for their music, creating the Maidcore microgenre. Not to be confused with Maidcore, the aesthetic based on maid fashion. Maidcore isn’t insomuch a genre, but a catchall term for any music made by the “maids”. every maid dabbles in several subgenre's, with quite a bit of overlap. The unifying elements is that it tends to always be electronic music, with some rock and metal touches, and usually has a depressive atmosphere to it. Which is quite fitting to the original characters.
