This album is Say Anything to me, this album defines them to me, I think it's they're greatest one JV, Menorah/Majora, and Baseball have a nice sound to them too, I always loved the raw sound of audio and those albums had em great, they had some pretty badass songs too, "Dreaming of Manhattan" "Walk through hell" "I am a Transylvanian" are some of my favorites on those albums In defense of the Genre is good, and they're self titled is ok, but nothing like the previous albums
What did you think of Hebrews because honestly that’s probably my favorite album just because I am so into Max and that feels like such a personal album
3:25 is a perfect example of why Say Anything will always be my favourite bands. It starts out feeling phantom of the opera-y, then it starts sounding like rock, then you got this freakin circus music and him saying "hahaha, show me what you got" over and over again, then it goes back into the rock n roll. Love it. Its like listening to multiple songs from different genres in one song with them. I've always heard them get categorized as "melodic rock" because they can't figure out wtf to categorize them as.
im going through all these songs on youtube from this album. there are a bunch of comments saying, "omg best song ever." i really dont think its the best song ever, but perhaps its one of the best albums ever
Passing slowly through a vector Damp with fog the bog that grows the former business sector With my laugh, my lone companion Only I can save the lives that blink within this canyon Woah, we're passing slow, we're passing slow, woah, slow, slow Drink the colors of the night time If you were wrong then I was right and this will be the right time I'll display my disaffection you grind me up, yeah, you spit me out Out across the city loud and proud in your direction Woah, we're passing slow, we're passing slow, woah, slow, slow Woah, we're passing slow, we're passing slow, woah, slow, slow But when I get to your apartment I climb the rail outside the building A band of them were in your apartment they tied you up unwound, unwilling I watch them cut, watch them touch, watch them do what they came to do And in I come to lick it up, clean up what is left of you Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Said, "Ha ha ha show me what you got" (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got) Ha ha ha show me what you got (Ha ha ha show me what you got)
@coooliox27 i think that the 'girlfriend' is his album, and the raping was labels/producers/industry wanting to take it in a direction that he absolutely hated..
@HolaMat I agree with you on ...Is A Real Boy defining them, but I believe there albums after are equally as good. I love Defense of a Genre because the songs sound just as soul searching and awesome as the other tunes I have come to love by Say Anything. Plea which is on Defense of a Genre..its ending is nothing but epic. :D
oh and i'm probably going to get a lot of shit for this because nobody's going to understand, but i don't think max bemis' lyrics are spectacular. but i think his composition is. his songs have REALLY interesting structure.
I've been thinking about the lyrics, and I'm pretty sure it's about a guy who goes to break up with/beat up/do something even worse to his girlfriend (He's angry at her, that's all I can say for sure). But when He climbs up to her apartment, he witnesses her getting raped, and does nothing. That's what I got. His lyrics are a little tricky to crack.
ive noticed something. the less mainstream a band is, the less dislikes it has. maybe it is because there arent many views for this video, or something. but i think its because non mainstream music is the only good music, and only good people listen to good music.
xxhardforcorexx max bemis states this song is about "watching someone you love emotionally hurt themselves as you drift through life not being able to help them"
I just don't understand how anybody could mistake this song for anything but genius song writing.
This might just be the greatest song ever on the greatest album ever. That says a lot
This one of the greatest albums of our lifetime

him and Anthony Green of Circa Survive some of the best song writers in my opinion
HA HA HA, SHOW ME WHAT YAH GOT!
My favorite part of the album, definitely, with the intro of Woe coming in second.
7 years later, and still listening.
Did you make it to 8?
Yuh
@@lunaghbest2436 I made it to 11 and counting.

But when I get to your apartment I climb the rail outside the building

we are moveing at a slow rate through a point in spacetime to another.
This song reminds me of phantom of the opera, at least the beginning up to when he says "drink the colors of the night time"
I would go gay for Max Bemis. Only him, no one else.
my favorite band since they first released this album =D
This song fully expresses the feelings a man has when he is forced to watch the "fuckedness" of society screw over a gem of a woman
Still such a dope a** song!!!
This song is the bomb
I really dont like my girlfriend right now, but when I listen to this song it makes it all better
saw them play this last night
This song reminds me of The Phantom of the Opera, especially the part about drinking the colors of the night time.
yellow cat/red cat.

@Keokeokitty Swear to god I always thought it was "We're passing slow!" Like .... ya know.... through a Vector. lol
@MrDabangles23 yeah it makes sense. that was kind of what i thought too.
does anyone listen to the lyrics of the bridge? theyre really fucked up and saddening
It's a metaphor fool.
@@xoxxpeach underrated comment right there
1:10 to 1:16 is one of my favorite moments on that album
Loud & proud in your direction!
We’re passing slow
@Creed1921 That person probably passed way too fast through a vector

This is where my life is right now
No thanks to Max Bemis, or Say Anything for creating so many awesome songs? WTF man... wtf...
1 person can't show what they've got
lol... i never thought that was a nose... think it's another part of a boys anatomy
he has extreme social anxiety he cant even smile in pictures with fans! its not his fault!!

its very unfortunate that they cant
Why does he wanna see what I got so bad? Its not even funny. >:(

Bunch of ''funny'' guys.
say anything isn't an obscure band, sorry.
Best break up song ever. Just laugh in her face while publicly putting her dirty laundry on display for all to see.
Thats not what the song is about.
Care to share what the song i̲s̲ about?
xxhardforcorexx max bemis states this song is about "watching someone you love emotionally hurt themselves as you drift through life not being able to help them"
That's interesting, thanks for the fast reply.
Its all good, i love this song more than life itself haha
