Old Perth Palo Cortado

This weeks review is the final of 2023 and is one of the latest from Old Perth, a blended malt finished in Palo Cortado casks… I make a right mess of trying to describe Palo Cortado, but I put that down to being rusty from not recording for a while, but the whisky is magic and hope you enjoy the video, and a final thanks to everyone who made this year special and a big shout out to Tom O for the bottle too.

Been enjoying the Springbank Palo Cortado.
Getting these notes so far
Nose: Herbal, apples, Funky peat
Palate: herbal, apples, cherries
Finish: funky peat, apples, pine
Never expected so much apple

Glad that this one lived up to your memory of it at the GWF.
If you still have any of the Old Perth Vintage 2007 and the PX finish it would be interesting to see a side by side comparison.

I am finding the blends very interesting and have really impressed with Douglas Laing. I suggest you try Timorous Beastie The Sherried Beast batch 1 @52.4 abv. It would be a great in a blind line up alongside Old Perth. All the best for 2024 Kevin and keep the channel going if you can.

Never tried any of the Old Perth expressions, maybe my next blended malt should actually be an Old Perth 🤔
