Das ist meine absolute Lieblingssinfonie seit ich sie 1985 in der Alten Oper, dirigiert von Eliahu Inbal, zum ersten Mal gehört habe. Da kommen immer warme Gefühle in mir hoch und ich kann die Natur und ihre Wunder sehr gut nachempfinden. Ob Mahler das auch so meinte, das weiß ich leider nicht. ❤

Echt toll
Klare und wunderschöne Aufführung dieser melodischen Sinfonie mit gut harmonisierten und perfekt synchronisierten Tönen aller Instrumente. Der zweite Satz klingt echt kräftig und voller Bewegung. Der intelligente Maestro dirigiert das perfekt trainierte Orchester im gut phrasierten Tempo und mit effektiv kontrollierter Dynamik. Echt erstklassig!

When listening to the third movement I sort of get the impression that this work influenced some of the soundtrack of "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask", in particular the stone tower temple theme. It's only slight but they have a very similar vibe. Considering that the central theme of the temple is titans it seems only logical that the composers of the soundtrack were inspired by this majestic work.
it happens very often that soundtracks of video games or music for movies is inspired by classical music
In Close Encounters Of The third Kind the "conversation" with the aliens 'resembles' Mahler's theme in his 9th symphony, another movie score where John Williams ripped ...er, was inspired by Mahler is Schindler's list... actually, so many of his movie scores are "homages" to other composers it is almost risible...
III "Frere jaques" en tono menor, convertido en marcha y despues repuesto en tono mayor no modo Klezmer. "Frere jaques" se uso para asediar judios en Francia. "Broder Martins", la version alemana era usada contra los protestantes. Este moviniento, pequena suite, parece decir que otro mundo es posible.

If you listen to 1:38 you can hear that the trumpets are playing from behind the stage or atleast further away, Mahler wrote that in the score. At 3:15 they are simply going back to there normal position.

A fantastic performance ruined by so abrupt a cutoff at the end that the natural reverberation of the last chord was removed, and so was the well-deserved applause. Please, SWR video engineers - you can do better than this!!
