I just replaced one of these this morning (passenger side) and really started to panic when I realized that the nut was not going to come off with that spline (?) in the way. I had no idea it was just fitted onto that bolt like that. THANK GOD I found this video! I used the exact method that you did with needle nose pliers and a hammer, and that bit just popped right off. I'm not particularly gifted at doing some of these little oddball RV repairs, and cannot thank you enough for this demonstration.
I'd recommend contacting AM Equipment for any future windshield wiper arms, motors, or blade replacement needs. They were the original equipment manufacturer for many of these RVs.
